>heeeey nice dude, will you do the caliban arc?
I only have the Nu-Earth stuff.
>>93733155
Caliban was nu-earth, but published round prog 600 or so.
It was like them early 2000's strontium dog flashback arcs.
All good though, always happy for some Venus blue

Thanks, never read this before, it's great stuff.
Thanks OP, was just thinking of trying some 2000AD stuff lately.
>>93732741
thanks OP!
>>93732741
Oh shit motherfucker, bumping for later, I've never actually read Rogue Trooper and am a shame to 2000AD fans everywhere because of it.

Awww yisss
Let's knife!!
>>93734824
They are putting out an updated version for modern systems. Maybe we'll get a sequel if that does well
>>93733227
Aww shit, first Rogue Trooper with Tom Frame on lettering.
Rogue Trooper is great. Definitely think more recent stuff like Prophet owes a debt to this.
What does /co/ think of War Machine ?
>>93735082
>Filth Columnists
Bless the Brits and shave Prince Charlse.
>>93744731
It works well as a stand alone story. I think the idea of a modernised take on a character that has run it's course is a good one even if some elements of the plot didn't really make sense. Where it falls down is later attempts to fit it in with the original Rogue continuity.
>>93742465
Thank you.
>>93744223
I hope.
Let's bump!
>>93745486
This. War Machine is a great self-contained story. Fleisher's run was meh but mostly harmless. But White's run is just a mess, and not even a good mess.
>>93747455
>Let's bump!
When it comes to recent Rogue adventures I'd recommend the short lived IDW series. It's self-contained while still acknowledging classic continuity. Modern feeling without becoming a completely different character. I only wish they had pulled the same trick off with their version of Dredd
>>93748752
Sounds good.
>>93744194
This
So that was the beginning of Rogue's story, why don't we flash forward to it's ending?
Or at least one possible end since this particular story probably isn't in continuity any more.
>>93753375
>>93753404
>>93753430
Controversial, very-likely-to-be-called-/co/mblr opinion:Rogue Trooper is gay as fuck, Gunnar Bagman and Helm behave like jealous loversalthough I get that's probably more intended as existential panic - and often just pure comedy, and Venus should be like a twinky G.I. rather than a girl.
>>93753450
>>93753539
>>93753580
The blue guy there is Tor Cyan, a character from the previously unconnected series Mercy Heights. Unfortunately attempting to explain his connection to Rogue pretty much ruined his character but still I really like this ending
>>93753463
Ha, they certainly follow in a long tradition of hyper-machismo shading over into high camp. I wouldn't be surprised if that was part of reason for introducing Venus in the first place
>>93753664
I remember Mercy Heights fondly but when I read it I was probably too young to have any critical eye.
>>93753463
I think that's one of the consequences of 2000AD being a boys' comic: extremely few female characters, constant lads bonding over manly stuff, and super violence and action everywhere. Just look at Johnny and Wulf's fucking retirement cabin. What really cracks me up about Rogue's case in particular is that, save the girls from Fort Neuropa, literally every single female character they meet ends up being a traitor, insane or plain evil. And fuck off with that twink shit, buff blue crazytits Venus is best Venus.
>>93753664
Thanks for this man, I hadn't actually read this (or Mercy Heights) before!
>>93753887
Everything with Sister Sledge is fucking hilarious.
>>93754023
That "twist" wasn't telegraphed, it was carved with a giant laser on the face of the moon. Holy shit Rogue, you *dense* motherfucker.
>>93753887
>I hadn't actually read this (or Mercy Heights) before!
Then I am double glad I posted.
I think Mercy Heights has been reprinted in the Meg. It's one of those strips from the 90's that's just consistently mostly okay, Tor Cyan is probably the most interesting thing to come out of it and I understand that was mostly unintentional
