The script was retranslated to be more cookie cutter like the japanese one though. The original translation was handled by the guy who did Silent Hill 2 as well and they added flavor to make it feel like the characters belong to that time period, something the Japanese version didn't do (while they were talking about how religions are just as bad as Dracula, in the japanese it was some trite crap about how he doesn't know what justice is)
