>not even one reprise of Vampire Killer

Fuck this gay show.

Science Dracula was pretty cool, though.
>>
I heard a rumor that Konami wouldn't let them have the rights to any of the music

Which is bullshit but I 100% believe it
>>
>>93719974
How the fuck does science explain castlevania dracula?
>>
>>93720113
Yeah I can see Konami doing that.
>>
>>93720124
Transistors.
>>
>>93720124
It's a prequel to Vampire Hunter D.
>>
>>93719974
>Science Dracula was pretty cool, though.
Dracula was originally an alchemist dumb dumb. It's what turned him into a vampire and got him Death as a servent.
>>
there was very little in the way of fanservice. Which is fine I guess. I wish they'd at least used some recognizable monsters instead of generic hellbeasts.

There was the cyclops at least.
>>
>>93720152
Vampire hunter D is magitech though
>>
>>93720124
It doesn´t, The writer has some weird hate bonner for the Galileo vs churchs thing and decided to make Dracula and enlightened pursuer of science. Which still doesn´t explain why he can summon the hordes of hell to punish his wife killers.
>>
>>93720169
So is Castlevania.
>>
>>93720175

Because he also happens to be the lord of hell
>>
>>93720175
Isn't he literally a faustian figure though?
>>
>>93720175
I can't wait to see how many fedoras fall in love with this show.
>>
>>93720124
See>>93720163
Dracula was originally an alchemist and tactician part of a clan who had been alchemists for generations not unlike the belmonts. He recreated an artifact called the crimson stone. He tricked his friend Leon Belmont, into killing a powerful vampire then absorbed it's soul into the stone completing it. As a result he became a vampire and also gained control of death (the stone grants the one who holds it death's loyalty).
Tl;dr he was always a scientist.
>>
>>93720175

Dracula is canonically an alchemist. And also a vampire. How is this hard to figure out? This isn't some "any sufficiently advanced technology yadda yadda" thing, his powers aren't scientific but he does have electricity and running water
>>
>>93720243
>Tl;dr he was always a scientist.
Alchemy isn't science, it is a form of magic.
>>
I liked it , I thought I was looking at a dark souls intro at one point.

That sounds like fucking magic though. I think what you mean is scholar
>>
>be an immortal vampire lord

>learn electrical and mechanical engineering as a way to pass the time
Seems legit.
>>
>>93720374
I mean, it's what I'd do. Once you uncover the secret to immortality and commanding Death Himself, you're gonna want to find a hobby or risk going nuts.
>>
>>93720113
Knowing Konami these days, they probably did.
>>
>>93719974
Isn't there another season being made? Maybe they are holding it back

Otherwise it could be a rights issue
>>
>>93720167

The giant gears in the last episode were a fun nod to the actual game. It was nice that SOMETHING made reference to the source material at least.
>>
>>93720175
What prevents someone being capable of both the conventional and demonic sciences? Supernatural powers are just another thing that exists in this world.

Helps when the guy that knows it all happens to be immortal.
>>
>>93720428
Plus losing your human wife twice, one to illness and the other because they thought she was a witch. Leaving your hybrid son with daddy issues.

Not a fan, to be honest.
I always saw the Belmonts as driven. They have to be because the games are so fucking hard. The fact that he's such an emo kid and a drunk is annoying to me, even in his situation. Doesn't come off as cool at all. He could have been the same in terms of motivations and have the same problems and he could still be written to be more interesting as a protagonist.

Here's hoping that looking at this show's popularity, Konami stops being shits long enough to get Simon in the game.

Though Trevor might be more relevant, but without Simon the Captain N trio won't be complete (I do have the idea of the Belmonts being different skins for Simon a la Bowser Jr. and the Koopalings.).

I completely agree. I actually thought for the first three episodes, that the series was going for the "God is not real, fuck christians, atheism rules"
And i was really satisfied after seeing that they aren't going for that, but for the idea that being a blind fanatic is dangerous. My sister originally said the scene wasn't satisfying enough, but hell... I felt satisfied simply imagining how much fear that bishop was feeling. Also...

>How the fuck does science explain castlevania dracula?
It doesn't, he's still a supernatural vampire demon, he just has some advanced (for his time) science.
>>
>>93723204
Some of the stuff can be explained by science, some by magic, some by science exploited by magic, some by magic enhanced with science.

The weird thing is that the castle actually makes a lot of sense when you look at it from a scientific angle, because it could easily just be using extra dimensional architecture to be larger or located in different places at the same time.
>>
>>93721597
>93720505
>Lies? In your house of God? No wonder he has abandoned you.

best fucking line.
>>
>>93722551
Alchemy didn't really believe weird things. It's just that alchemy had a very different way of describing things than we do today.

For example, a chemist and an alchemist would have a formula for making a chemcical compound. But where the chemist would use a formula from the periodic table and math, the alchemist would use different descriptors.

Thats why in alchemy you'll find a lot of really, really weird pictures with oddly colored things. That was their version of chemical formulas, and that's how they talked about them.

so the chemical formula for vitriol is FeSO47H2O, but in alchemy it was a Green Lion. But anyone trained in chemistry would look at a green lion and go "what the fuck is this shit?" the same way a 5th grader would look at FeSO47H2O and go, "what the fuck is this shit?"
>>
We can only hope the success of this convinces Konami to let them in season 2.

Primus knows they could use the good will.
>>
>>93723204
I´m just going to asume that the castle is a satan powered tardis and called it a day.
>>
>>93722909

Well why doesn't Dracula himself just go around slaughtering everyone? It's not as if there are any Belmonts around to stop him. He'd rather they be tortured by a shitty existence and bled out slowly.

Dracula is pretty much the personifcation of Evil, but he did give them a year to get the fuck out of his backyard, but they just had to be defiant ignorant cunts about the whole thing.
>>
>>93721835

>>93721902
Eh, by the end, he's clearly driven. He just needed that push to get him there after all the hard shit that came on him. I liked it well enough. It gave him a character arc.
>>
>>93727580

>>
>>93724719

>>
>>93722501

They can consolidate or skip over some of the more bareboned Classicvanias like Soleiyu and Christopher Belmont since it wouldn't be that interesting otherwise. The script was retranslated to be more cookie cutter like the japanese one though. Either he doesn't actually know about its history. and its going to be a "holy shit" when it does power up.
or, he does know, and was just throwing shade. and we'll get a flashback or something when we do get told its true history.

I will not deny that throughout history CERTAIN Catholics are done evil in the name of the Church. But the amount of hatred towards Catholics in this anime is beyond the pale. Bitch they throw a monkey wrench in the "defeat dracula" thing almost every time past fucking Rondo of Blood.

its never that simple, each game has a far different take on the general premise.

Ironically ole Simon is like the 4th belmont to kill Dracula, and by this time the Belmont bloodline has added quite a bit of power to it through eugenics, with Sylpha and later on Alucard adding to the gene's.

culminating in Rondo of Blood's Richter, who's basically a super saiyan, and Julius Belmont, who's fucking insanely powerful.

I commend your powers of cognition. An erudite summary of why Dracula is the villain of this story and not the protagonist.

To be fair Igarashi was booted from Castlevania years ago so there's no telling what Sonia's status is now. They might make her and the other games canon again

Symphony of the Night.
Aria of Sorrow.

The main Metroidvanias are Symphony of the Night, Aria of Sorrow, Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia. Don't let the generic anime art style of Dawn/Portrait fool you, they're great games.

As to how, well, Christfag here so I can point out there's literally an entire book in the old testament in which the Devil shows up to the council of heaven and challenges God to a bet.

>>93732551
I'm more disappointed that they chose the 'Galilleo controversy' rather than using the Orthodox/Catholic/Muslim conflict that actually raged in the region. I'd think Ellis, being a European would at least have pulled on that rich history of political fuckery/counter-fuckery. The actual history of how Vlad was screwed over by Muslims, THEN by various Christian rulers he was basically acting as a buffer zone for, is terribly interesting and dramatic. (his greatest rival IRL was his bishonen little brother 'Radu the Hansom' who may very well have been the young Sultan Mehmed IIs boytoy/favored warrior.)

>Dracula describes Lisa as the only true love he's ever had
What about Elizabetha Cronqvist, considering she was the main reason he forsake God and became a vampire? Does she even exist in this continuity?
>>
>>93734813

So what if 4 is easier. Its still one of the best ones.
>>
>>93734767
Because the Dracula of Castlevania isn't based on Vlad. He's a tactician from the middle ages
>>
>>93734827
Lisa was Elizabetha's reincarnation. She's reincarnated again by aria of sorrow as Mina Hakubi
>>
>>93734852

It is implied he lived Vlad's life though. Maybe. Or maybe he just took the name after the real Vlad died. The games never say.

Both camps get defensive for no reason it's actually funny.

I know Mina Hakuba is apparently supposed to be the reincarnation of Mina Harker, but were all four supposed to be the same single person?

You kill enemies that used to take 6 hits with 3
there's no tension, the music is ambient stuff, one of the levels has a really bullshit trap. Dracula is anti-climatic as fuck.
It's honestly the worst classicvania, but people like it because it's the only one they can beat and the multidirectional whip.
Even the underrated Dracula X is better

IIRC Mina Harker isn't even a thing in Castlevania. Hakuba's name was just patterned after hers.

I'm well aware of the long standing use of characters from the Bram Stoker novel. What I'm saying though is that there's never been a Castlevania version of Mina Harker, just like how there hasn't been a Castlevania version of Abraham Van Helsing despite him being arguably the most popular Stoker name when it comes to vampire killers.

That said, if the Stoker novel is indeed canon to the series rather than it's characters just being paid an homage to, then I retract my statement about Mina Harkness.

A blow to the nuts, especially through clothes isn't as bad as you might think. You'll recover most of the time. Now if they had gone up between the legs and grabbed and twisted then he'd probably be severely damaged. But just striking for it through clothes you're much more likely to hit the majority of the crotch rather than the testicles.

>>93736531
>Because these things are exposed.
So you don't know what has been going on in the caribean for over 60 years I take it.

by that logic a sword is a generic weapon. Skeletons are iconic to castlevania, and they come in a lot of different varieties. from the bone throing skeleton to the bone dragon.

>To be fair Dracula is higher up than Satan on the pecking order in the castlevania-verse
How does this work, exactly? I wasn't aware Satan existed outside of mentions by priests in this series and such.

>>93737041

Satan hasn't even been confirmed to exist in the classic continuity. Just implied.

>The Castlevania Opening Title sequence is officially up! This opening in particular was a special passion project for us, as we wanted to create an opening that encapsulates the feeling and themes of the show along with doing something visually exciting in the vein of opening sequences we at the studio admire.
>The opening was also done by a small crew of us in an incredibly short period! It was spearheaded by me and Spencer Wan with help from Danny Araya and Adam Deats in just about 3 weeks. I hope folks enjoy it!
>>
>>93737273
>>93737041
It could also be a relative thing. Dracula is the present threat. While Satan may and probably does exist he probably works much like God. In roundabout and mysterious ways.
>>
>>93737499
My understanding was that the holder of the Crimson Stone fulfills the role of "Satan" in this cosmology.
>>
>>93736274
Imagine working on something passionately and it dies, but finally after 10 years it comes to fruition. Ellis must be on cloud 9.

Amazing to see how many specific details from that first draft for an abandoned movie survived in this iteration of the project. A little bummed Netflix made him put clothes on Alucard, but it's a minor thing.
