One of the best Donna moments is when Byrne retconned her origin for literally no reason except autism.

He rewrote it so she was like a magic mirror clone of Diana as a child so she would have someone to play with, but then she got like time fucked out of the universe, and Diana used her power as the goddess of truth at the time and Wally's memory to restore her origin to how it just was.

So basically at that point her origin was that she was LITERALLY, IN-UNIVERSE retconned into existence by her two best friends.

What kills me about Donna is that 52 gave a perfectly serviceable explanation for all her conflicting back stories. Essentially, she is a living continuity error. Like, literally, she's more or less a glitch in space time, and that's why her personal history keeps changing.

Not really sure why everyone keeps ignoring this, especially since Hypercrisis is super popular nowadays, and 52 is regarded as a classic series with tons of influence.

All I'm saying is that writers either need to do something with this idea, or better yet stop fucking harping on her origins and let her be a damn superhero already. For fucks sake.

The actual reason is that they added Wonder Girl to the original TT lineup without realizing that Wonder Girl was the same deal as Superboy, the adventures of Diana as a youth, so had to rush job the creation of Donna Troy. Being that her entire reason for existence was editorial having a "Wait a minute..." moment, her backstory never sat well with everyone so every once in awhile someone comes along and adds something to it. They've also outright retconned her origin about three or four times. Basically no one is entirely happy with her origin which means lots of people have tried to fix it and those fixes have never pleased everyone.
