I work at a LCS is a major U.S. city and I can tell you right now that Secret Empire isn't the success that Marvel and Spencer pretend that it is. We had a whole event planned* for this book but we decided not too because there wasn't enough interest in this book, and to be fair I actually thought that the controversy would actually help it out but I guess not. Even on FCBD the Secret Empire book was the that had the most issues left over and I spoke to two customers who are self-proclaimed Marvel fans but they're not really jiving with this story at all.

I really wanted to start a 'People who work at LCS' thread to see if anyone had the same issues or how people are reacting to it at their stores but I guess this will do for now.

I think he is in terms of adding to Bat mythos. The man has done so much great storytelling over the years, but Snyder's got an edge that Dini never had... or perhaps even wanted. After all, he found a home in television.

Most of her readership was not used to the way comics worked. Marvel did three massive blunders:

-Relaunched the comic for no reason other than relaunching titles for All-New All-Different (most people who aren't familiar enough with comics and only started reading them actually don't like when a title restarts over with #1)
-Tried to push her heavily into other titles (ie All-New All-Different Avengers; it was too early to make her an Avenger already)
-Involved her in Civil War II (most of her readership wasn't interested in crossovers)

This actually did happen with Civil War II #1's first issue the week it was out (June 1, 2016); on Comixology that week the top four were:

Other issues of Civil War II did get the top spot later on (#7 and 8). But I think what's really strange is that for this week on Comixology, more people bought a regular non-event issue of Superman over Secret Empire #1. 1) Camstew made Barbara essentially a stereotype of a white, upper middle-class, millenial girl in college. Essentially the main demographic of tumblr
