>The project served as the launching point for multiple Cartoon Network series, including The Powerpuff Girls, Dexter's Laboratory, Johnny Bravo, Cow and Chicken, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Mike, Lu & Og, Sheep in the Big City, Whatever Happened to... Robot Jones?, Codename: Kids Next Door, The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy and Megas XLR, as well as Fox's Family Guy .
>recycled CalArts style, most notably and painfully seen in the new PPG >loss of many respected cartoonists, such as Craig MacCracken, Butch Hartman, Genndy Tartakovski, and Maxwell Atoms, to be replaced by liberal tumblr SJWs like Pen Ward, Rebecca Sugar, and Ian Jones Quartey >began to use this board and other places on the internet as their volume advertising spot, resulting in oversaturation of their cartoons and resentment >various bungled reboots, failed live action ventures, and failed projects
>>79828823 I saw this same exact image/filename posted by some shitposter who was trying to derail the FoP thread yesterday. Are you sure you're not a paid Cartoon Network shill? Hows that 30 cents a shitpost working out for you?
>>79826207 It was much less absurd than they're making it out to be. Toonami just wasn't worth keeping around as they hit the end of what they could do with 4kids dubs what with all the people who liked Toonami moving on. The "real" block was a dumb idea but it was just meant to be a block, not a replacement. In the end, the stubborn asshole who made the real block finally stopped trying to push it and toonami got revived for the people who actually want it.
The real downfall was everything Adventure Time onward.
how was toonami not worth it? (at this point int time it was like 3-6pm east coast time?)
After school tv program so it cant air "edgey" anime like death note??
Also they could have brought back old episodes of shit like swatkats and other things. But now that I think about it it seems like your original statement is right. And it is now home in the late evening where it can flourish to do its own semi more teen-adult related anime/cartoons
>>79823841 A combination of shows that are more "based on SJW ideals" than previous shows, Tumblr raids and GamerGate lead to the network (especially SU) becoming the cool thing to hate no matter if it was justified hate or not.
>>79823841 What are you talking about. Its the best Cartoon channel right know. It has tons of shows even if some of them are shit. Still it has the best in Televison. Don't you guys see the polls and earnings of each company? CN did very well last year compare to the others. it was best actually
>>79835272 redditors that browsed /v/ took it a step further and started the movement that became a cryfest for each side of the movement. >>79835406 >>79835515 Its pretty much dead. There are still a few of them out there, but the movement is but a walking corpse now.
>>79835785 I agree, Gumball and at the very least when they first started AD and RS were amazing. People can bitch about SU being "tumblr" but as a cartoon it is pretty great though it have pacing issues and too many fake feels moment for the hell of it.
I don't know, maybe it was because I try still trying to watch CN during that time but it felt like the reality TV stuff lasted for like two years for me. If I recall it only lasted for the Summer right?
If I was running CN every show would be about the futility and absurdity of existence, especially in the context of our overwrought 21st century post-industrial lives,
If I could capture even a fraction of the anguish and despondency that comes with being alive and transmit that into the home of millions of children I would consider it a great public service. Kids need to know that life is a meaningless struggle. That labels like 'good' or 'bad' are illusory. That your parents saddle on your back the same lies about what it means to be human that their parents did to them and so on and so forth, all of it a great deception to invent meaning where there is none. That against the vastness of the universe our entire world is less than a speck. That our specie's grandest crusades, our most shining moments as well as our most pitiful ones will go equally unnoticed by the all-consuming void.
If I'm successful all the kids would renounce life and become anti-natalists and shun the cruel struggle of existence and eliminate some branches of suffering from our collective crucible.
>>79835912 CN Real lasted for only a month or so, with all the shows except Dude, What Would Happen and Destroy Build Destroy immediately canceled. Afterwards, they picked up 6 more live action stuff (Hall of Game, Unnatural History, Tower Prep*, Level Up, Annoying Orange (a mix of both), and Incredible Crew) before finally giving up in 2014 (mostly due to a change in execs probably) with the last Hall of Game
>>79841577 >efore finally giving up in 2014 (mostly due to a change in execs probably) Honestly the fact that that lady hadn't devolved into meme status like the other guy probably means she's doing a good job.
What's really wrong with cn today isn't the shows it's the presentation. I remember when they had new cartoons on Friday and you would have cartoons hosting. Or remember cartoon city where it was one giant cross over in between commercials? It really made the network feel special. Now all kids now a days get is other random kids screaming at their phone for attention. I really feel sorry for them.
>>79836044 What CN did was one of the biggest mistakes and that nearly killed the network. It's really hypocritical to it's name as Cartoon Network airs only animated programming 24/7. Shows that combine live action and animation regardless of degree are the only types of live action content that would be accepted on the channel. It should never try to be like Nickelodeon or Disney Channel. They are a channel with a unique programming schedule.
>>79844641 I agree. Packaging can help a network considerably.
Hell, I hate about 90% of [adult swim]'s programming, but I keep it on in the background because I like to get a glance at those chill-as-fuck bumps. Same with Toonami; if it weren't Toonami and just a block that happened to have anime, I wouldn't be watching.
If CN revitalized the Cartoon Cartoon Friday and Cartoon Cartoon City aesthetics, I feel like that would help them a fair bit.
Other than that, it's perfectly fine. Sure, shows like Adventure Time, Regular Show, and Rick and Morty are past their prime and there's too much Canadian dogshit and Tumblr pandering, but there's still decent shows such as We Bare Bears, Be Cool Scooby Doo, and Gumball.
But unfortunately, /co/ thinks everything without 2deep4u lore or lesbian ships is shit.
They killed all their Cartoon Cartoons, fucked with their logo, and after school Toonami then stayed shit for years while ceding more and more airtime to Adult Swim.
Fortunately a large chunk of that damage is being or has been mitigated.
Adult Swim needs to get its ass back to 11 pm and Cartoon Network needs to stop making shows targeted at older teenagers that fail miserably. I think Regular Show's basically the only thing in that vein that's still on the air thank fuck.
>>79852119 >They thought they could be Disney Over the Garden Wall was solid as fuck. They just need to stick to The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad Disney. >or Nick. Let's be perfectly honest, they could be Nick if they REALLY wanted to. They ran Miguzi for a while and that shit was Nick-lite.
>>79832435 >>79838349 That guy's image is pure "my stuff is stuff and your shit is shit" But honestly, ALL of this comes down to just fucking juvenoia. Yes, it's exactly cherry picking. You remember the best things of your childhood cartoons and forget all the shit. Meanwhile, the worst things of modern times come up the most in your mind because they deviate from the past.
Every era of cartoons has had it's ups and it's downs. Fuck, even during the abomination that was CN Real, stuff like My Gym Partner's a Monkey was around that was at the very least passable. And no, it's not going to be like the past. But then again, you'd complain if it was that way too, because the things that were shit back then would be renewed and much clearer to your more matured mind. For every one going on about how modern cartoons like Clarence or SU looking the same, people forget shit like Korra, Over the Garden Wall, or Wonder Over Yonder.
>>79858259 >Over the Garden Wall was solid as fuck. It is not, CN has no show on the same grade as DuckTales. >>79858325 >Every era of cartoons has had it's ups and it's downs. The 40s will like to have a word with you.
