When will French animation finally get the attention it deserves?
The day a single European admits in public he watches animation above the age of 10.
Until then it's all clumped up in the "trash for kids" pile.
Also it is still 100% treated, studied and written as "trash for kids".
Because animes cater to one of the most easily impressed demographics on the planet: Teens and young 20somethings who have only consumed genre entertainment.
Not that this is much different with, say, superheroes.
The only reason teens watch anime is for violence and fanservice.
French cartoons have that.
>w-western animation is better than jap animation!
>muh justice league!
>muh steven universe!
this meme needs to die forever
>Wants to see thread about animation industries outside of the US
>/a/ goes into it spamming all anime are good seinen meme
>/co/mrades willingly take bait
I'm not even angry anymore
, should we sage this thread and start anew?
I'm only one minute in and half of it is self wank but here.
Also if anyone can name some french cartoons I might not have thought of be my guest and suggest some.
nigga please.France adveritise the fuck of any animated movie even when it's not St Disney's latest holy crap. TV still gets animation blocks that aren't hidden in a cable channel, with local made content every season. Sure it's hit and miss but nobody would belittle animation for that.
tfw the Dofus movie didn't even reach 50k ticket sales yet.
I don't know where this stereotype of stinky cheese comes from.
When I lived in France the strongest cheese I ever ate was Rochefort, and it only smelled strongly if you jammed your nose onto it like a sperg.
when they do big project for big audience.
Anime is literally only bloody violence, disgusting character designs, sex, and ten minute long fight scenes. It's awful. I can't stand that style.
Western animation is colorful, sweet, cute, and hilarious. Stuff like Regular Show and Gravity Falls is just edgy enough without being ridiculous.
Transcripts and subs (in SRT) are there; and I'm slowly putting all the episodes on there but it's incredibly long.
And now I'm doing a few more lines of the French transcript of episode 9. But it's not very useful without someone timing it to the episodes.
I know exactly what I'm talking about. Every anime I've ever seen or someone has tried to get me into has all of those dumb cliches and issues. I just don't understand the love for it.
Kids on the Slope sounds like something you're looking for. It's just about these kids in Japan playing jazz in like the 1960s.
A movie that came out recently you'd like is Miss Hokusai. It's about the daughter of a famous painter (the dude who painted pic related.) She just goes through daily life in the movie and some weird stuff happens and some boring stuff happens.
I have been writing a space adventure cartoon since more than one year. You may have seen me write threads.
Would you watch that if it aired on TV?
Read the pastebin and give your opinion.
>PS: Pic related is from before I improved drawing, it is there so that you can recognize the characters.
>recommending it to someone who most likely doesn't speak Japanese
>When ~half of the jokes are based on puns in Japanese language
>She just goes through daily life in the movie and some weird stuff happens and some boring stuff happens.
I want this sales tactic implemented in every movie trailer from now on.
Yeah I don't know how to describe the movie. It's basically like 3 or 4 episodes from a tv miniseries but it's still presented as a movie. I really liked it, but if you expect a typical plotline from a movie when watching it, you'll be disappointed by it. It looks good (but not as good as a Ghibli movie) and if you go into it with the right mindset, it's a very enjoyable movie. I thought about it for like an hour after I watched it which doesn't happen with most movies for movie.
Please answer, I need feedback on episode 1 (bottom of the pastebin).
It seems interesting but honestly what's most important is the writing for individual episodes. I mean Aeon Flux, Spongebob, Home Movies, Courage, King of the Hill, etc. all have vastly different settings but the writing for most episodes is great which is what's mostly important
A Monster in Paris was pretty cool.
My sister had the flea as her husbando for a while.
>And now I'm doing a few more lines of the French transcript of episode 9
And it's almost done, but it's 4 o'clock here so I will see that tomorrow. Good whatever it is time for where you are.
Hopefully never. Millenials have done enough damage sinking their little claws into capeshit, christ forbid what kind of collective aneurysm they'd have if they found out about tintin or jodorowsky.
when they quit making knock off anime ripoffs and can write worth good characters
on a serious note Ernest and celestine is the shit. Ankama can go eat shit, everything they do is absolute garbage
Not all japanese animation is weeb trash.
Not all western animation is Johnny Test tier flash garbage.
