I actually do live near what's considered beach city and go there all the time, from what I can tell it's based off of ocean city Maryland. >Beach city walk fries is boardwalk fries. >funland arcade is playland arcade >big doughnut is fractured prune And you can occasionally see utz chips in some scenes which isnt found outside of a few States.
>>79760566 It's based off of Dewey Beach, even has Rehoboth Bay in that map
n the real Rehoboth Beach, there is a candy store called Dolle's Candyland which is parodied as Danny's in Steven Universe, a restaurant called Bricker's Famous French Fries which has a french fry mascot, and Funland is an actual amusement park for children.
Rehoboth Beach, Bethany Beach, and Dewey Beach are all in Sussex County, Delaware in real life.
>>79760022 where's roses garden? how come we've never actually seen Dewey Park or those hosues for that matter? why is the Funland Amusement Park on the opposite side of all the beach side stores, and arcade which Mr. Smiley works at both apparently why is there no proper trail to the Lighthouse? what is "???"
>>79761006 nah most of the super natural stuff seems to be kept relatively under wraps considering no big government has put their eyes on the city at any point apparently (or its just the writers asking you to have a little suspension of disbelief because they don't want government to have a big role in this show)
>>79761441 >>79761543 The US government probably already knows in that the gems seem to have some role in altered American history. There's gem imagery on the money, and if gems helped colonists, I would not be surprised if they were involved in the Revolutionary War. Hell, Benjamin Franklin was probably one of Rose's old human playthings.
>>79760581 speaking of Tiger Billionaire, where is he? I miss him and Purple Puma's teamups, it's like PP is just a shallow excuse for violence without TB.
And what ever happened to those League of Professional Wrestling Haters? They were a great new gimmick and only got used once?
I feel like that chick who hangs out with Steven (she like his mom?) would have loved the sunglasses one. You know, the one with the square hair?
>>79761725 Steven, go to bed, okay? I get you're upset about Cookie Cats no longer being sold but you can't cause chaos over a damn ice cream sandwich that managed to be soft, creamy, and still have a crunchy cookie-...
>>79761745 I never said war didn't exist. That would sure make for a boring world. Also, yeah, you're right. Bombing would definitely be the best and most practical way for humans to fight gems, or anything for that matter.
>>79761794 Government probably lets them do whatever as long as they contain corrupted gem threats. And really, this is Rebecca Sugar's world we're talking about where the majority of the population is somewhat nice and tolerant. The US government would never go full ET in this setting.
>>79761759 >Rose liked Greg because he reminded her of old Ben. >Greg decided to play on this once and greet Rose dressed in a Benjamin Franklin costume and read off his treaties on taking an older woman as one's lover.
And that's how Steven was conceived.
>Garnet began doing the glasses thing because she likes the Secret Service's style.
>>79761915 So a world that would literally never exist, but then again, it's a cartoon, so i guess I'm asking for too much. >>79761925 Well the thing is those stories existed in more or less ancient times where normal humans still used bows and arrows and those guys could throw mountains and humans were powerless against them, even united.
The gems exist in a MODERN world, one with tanks, jets, and guns. We could stand up to them. Hell, we could destroy them. But a smart government would detain them and figure a way to make more and create an army to fight the soon coming evil gems that these race-traitors have brought onto the planet.
>>79761441 >>79761759 >>79761794 The government is run by sneople, they're too busy pitting humans against each other with elections, sports, and anime message boards to care about some weirdo space aliens that have already been chilling here for thousands of years.
>>79762605 Country was founded late, due to Gem interference. So basically the first 100 years of the country didn't happen. Going by the 12 stars and the snake emblem, the US may have only just seperated from England.
>>79762721 Delmarva is (in part or in whole) Delaware, Maryland and Virginia. We know there is Keystone, which is Pennsylvania. Kansas has been named as the home of the Hollywood expy, so that's 3. I'm guessing that the states are larger, possibly extending westward through the midlands like the original boundaries.
Is everyone in this world just retarded or something? Even in Invader Zim, where the average IQ is in the negative hundreds, people still freak the fuck out when Zim's disguise is compromised. In Steven Universe aliens and monsters are running in plain sight yet everyone has about as much of a clue about as the Hartley Hooligans. Fuck, if human stupidity were robots, Steven Universe would be to Zim what Gurren Lagann is to Mazinger Z.
>>79766292 >less places for people to live than a skyrim town I'm pretty sure there's only like 20-ish families that live in Beach city, and there's more than enough for them >huge water tower what's wrong with that?
>>79763828 >In Steven Universe aliens and monsters are running in plain sight yet everyone has about as much of a clue about as the Hartley Hooligans. They live in an alternate earth timeline where humanity is aware of magic and aliens and shit but tends to avoid fucking with anything that smells of weird due to the high chance of death and/or dismemberment.
That's also why nobody wigs the fuck out over the gems.
Also all the monsters are explicitly after the gems themselves who live away from town and were there first.
Another major difference, no holidays.
Also, IIRC there was no WWII. I don't remember all the details on the major differences between SU Earth and our Earth, it's been a while.
>gems feed on life force from the local area to grow >presumably gem fragments do the same >the cluster is made of gem fragments >the cluster is big enough to destroy the earth should it reform Why the fuck is there still life on the planet?
>>79760022 Hm. I tried to explore this fuckhuge statue but this woman that sounded like Estelle stopped me. She had this lanky ass woman with some kind of jewelry on her head with her. She was hiding behind her for some reason. Later I ran into this purple dog that stole my lunch and spare oil I had for my car. There's also this fat kid with a jewel on his belly, he sure loves donuts. Must've eaten a bakers dozen. The car wash is pretty nice though, looks like they got new brushes. It's owner is this washed up hobo dude that sits around with a guitar most days. All and all, I'm not sure what's going on here but the people seem normalish? I ask though, why do they all have jewels on them?
>>79766558 what the hell happened to South America. The other stuff I can understand bits being broken off or completely wrecked but South America has with huge tumorous landmass on it's eastern seaboard and what looks like a new chain of islands or the remains of a shallow land bridge leading to Africa
Looking at maps of the region, I think it's safe to assume that the city is in one of two locations;
>Bluff Point, if the original thin strip of land south of Dewey Beach somehow got destroyed. >Cape Henlopen Beach, just to the north; even has a lighthouse, but requires Delaware Bay to be renamed Rehoboth Bay.
Dewey Beach itself doesn't face the right way for Rehoboth Bay to be located above Beach City in the map. The Temple would be facing to the left, with the mainland to the right of the map, for that to be possible.
Just moved here the other day, got to meet some interesting folks. The girl who works at The Big Donut is really sweet but her colleague seems like a prick. Didn't even say "hello" or anything when I walked in, he seemed to be too busy trying to look cool or edgy or whatever, but to me he looked like he was having a stroke.
Tried out some local food, but there's not much to pick. The fries I bought from the stand were goddamn delicious. There was this chubby little kid who, according to the guy who works there, orders nothing but fry bits. Why would you be eating leftovers when the actual fries are much better? He was accompanied by this strange girl; purple skin and very light, flowy hair, and daaaaamn she's quite a shortstack. Seemed pretty fun to be around, even gave me a small packet of what she calls "fire salt", told me to be careful with it when I put it on food. I decided to try it out later.
Local pizzeria....eeeh, I've had better pizza, but this one's digestible. Once your stomach gets used to it.
The mayor tries to come off as a competent, bold leader, but he seems to be a nervous trainwreck if you ask me. His son seems to be embarassed of him, but he's a cool kid.
There was also this guy who seems to run the local arcade and the amusement park, no matter how he talked he -always- had this weird grin on his face. It was reeeeeeally creepy, if you ask me.
Some of the townsfolk say there's a huge temple on the other side of the hill, I may go check it out tomorrow. What should I expect?
I would bully Lars, hang with the cool kids and teach them how to smoke weed to make them more cool, go watch some anime with Ronaldo and hope he has good taste, date Sadie, and that doesn't go as planned I would date Sadie's mom. That slut needs a good fucking in her life. Life in beach City wouldn't be so bad.
>>79767718 >I would bully Lars, hang with the cool kids and teach them how to smoke weed Few things in life are as fun as bullying Lars. Don't sell to that pizza chick though, girl's got no sense of loyalty and will narc your ass out for a laugh after trying to fuckin' haggle the price of a quarter. Oh well though, at least there's no cops.
>>79767194 Australia's actually way better. What was desert is now coastland, so we have far more arable soil, the fracture is too far west to have cracked the Great Artesian Basin so we still have groundwater, and Perth is completely obliterated.
>>79766900 The gem shards already sapped the life force from where ever they were grown,Peri said the cluster is incubating, maybe the geothermal heat is melting the gems into a giant lump? >>79768216 I've considered moving there, is that a dumb idea?
>Day 23 in Beach City >Determined to escape this saccharine nightmare, I acquired a van and began driving out of town >after half a tank of gas, I was still in the middle of nowhere on an empty highway >drive back to only civilization I know to exist >Carwash guy's cool, say's "THERE's my van!" and laughs I think this is hell
>>79760022 Now that those Gem ladies have been gone for about a month my monster hunting career has really taken off! I've bagged two of those big ol' critters already. I tell you having brothers in the military makes it great to get your hands on the kind of gear that makes it easier to drop these things. Plus, did anyone else know these things leave behind gems when they go down? One was as big as my fist and the other was nearly as big as my head! I've got buyers lined up for them and that should bankroll my operations for at least the next year.
>>79768512 I don't think that's a good idea, anon. If those monsters turn into gems when tey die, couldn't that mean those same gems could give birth to new monsters? Wait, what if even normal gems can make monsters? We need to warn people.
Bro, if you're gonna keep those gems, keep 'em in some tight sealed box or something that can't be opened easily. Saw some chubby kid putting one of those in a bubble and saying how now it can't "reform" or something. At first I thought it was bullshit, but I took down one of those monsters and decided to leave the gem be for a few minutes. And wouldn't you know it, that fucker just popped back to life like nothing happened, so I had to waste more of my ammo to take it down.
Seriously though, any kind of box or jar that's just small enough for the gemstone to fit in should do it. Been days now since I did that to the one I got and it hasn't even budged.
Although I am seriously tempted to look up that kid and just give it to him, he seems to know what the hell those things are.
>>79768256 >>79768256 Yes and no. Flooding over here is real. Just had two flood in the span of three weeks, water went up to my porch. Disregarding that, the area itself is nice. Lots of small businesses and low low low crime make it a wonderful little town. If you can tolerate the tiniest extra bit of racism and hyper Christians, its a great place to live.
>ran into a crazy guy who tried to tell me the government is run by snake people >car broke down and that Garnet chick helped me push it to the gas station >saw a girl playing with swords with that Steven kid. >went to the fry shop, but they didn't have any ketchup This has been an interesting day.
>>79762012 What about the fact that gems have been on earth before humans even existed and the fact that crystal gems probably have some sort of immunity pact with the governments due to them defending the earth from homeworld invasion? Or how about the fact that gem tech is still miles above any human tech and seemingly magic. Rose could've just deflected any attacks and heal injured comrades with her tears at ease, not to mention fusions. You think the U.S government wants a fucking gemzilla slapping their shit around?
>>79777395 They aren't really defending the earth from invasion. they are 3 (used to be 4) gems, against an entire world of them. They are more or less refugees that have infested the world with horrid creatures that could threaten human life. At this modern point they are more of a liability. Especially considering they really aren't that terrifying, saving Lapis. But with modern tech like a .50 cal sniper or a drone strike, you could take the gems out in a flash.
I still think harvesting them to create super soldiers/weapons is the best option, for when the gem home world decides to really come to earth, 3 gems and a fat semi-gem won't do shit against a whole planet.
Aww shit I wish I had gotten this info sooner. I had the two gems sitting nice and pretty on a shelf as trophies until their buyers contacted me with proof of payment and the next thing I know I'm fighting for my life. Luckily I was able to take out the smaller monster with a mix of small arms fire and hand to hand combat but the big son of a bitch tore a hole right through my armory. Months of supplies and ammo gone in an instant! I wasn't about to let that stand so I hopped in my car and ran that sucker down, using a mixture of basic household chemicals in the proper proportions I blew his ass to kingdom come. My plans to expand my operation have been severely compromised but I still plan to sell these two suckers now that they are properly secured and rebuild.
>>79763499 Steven isn't from money. Garnet and Amy don't even understand it's concept and Greg gave Steven a bag of quarters(which I assume is everything he made that day at the car wash) instead of $5-$20 in bills when Steven wanted another ranger guy. They also live in a town where everyone freaks out about losing their business if they can't open shop for a few days during a blackout. I Imagine Ocean Town was their upper middle class counterpart.
>>79785493 >Dad gives his son quarters for a machine that takes quarters
Greg barely understood what the hell steven was talking about. He just woke up and forgot the minor details of that day so I doubt he remembers about the machine.
>lol he's so fucking poor and stupid.
Now you're putting words in my mouth. Never claimed Greg was stupid and the guy runs a carwash in a tourist town while supporting his son and his three destruction prone Guardians. He's probably not poor but it's not hard to believe that he struggle sometimes.
>>79767024 >That giant sea in Russia is probably crawling with sea monsters though.
I'm imagining that Yellow Tail actually isn't a fisherman, but goes to that sea with a crew of surly Russians to treasure hunt, like a nautical S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Then we'll get a two-parter where they fight Malachite.
>>79792401 Mayor Dewey probably closed down the police department when he realized the Gems would handle everything for free, and funnelled its budget into his offshore bank account or gave tax breaks to get re-elected.
