this is also the reason I agree with this (>>79651477), it showed dipper becoming more competent, but in a way that felt believable to his character (so he's not SUPER amazing at handling supernatural stuff, but he's as good as a kid could be at it).
Plus, she's a bit more serious than the other girls his age. If Mabel, Candy, and Grenda were just random girls and not his sister/sister's friends, Dipper would probably just find them annoying and weird.
At least the Pacifica was cute
Pretty much because the episode showed how much pressure is on Pacifica to live up to expectations and despite her confidence in previous episodes she's really repressed. But every scene shes in with Dipper you see her coming out of that shell and actually enjoying herself.
Plus that scene where she's sad he left and then comes running back in excited when he returns.
For one, she's not his sister or his sister's friends. Two, they're a classic hate ship. Two people who originally don't get along, but end up hitting it off eventually. She's also not a one dimensional shrieking weirdo like Candy or Grenda, and had some (late) character development.
Ironically, Dipcifica is the tumblr name for the ship, while Padippica is the 4chan name for it.
Although I actually really like Dipper/Pacifica and hope there's a nod to it on the show, its shippers are by far the most obnoxious in the fandom. Especially considering they only didn't despisr each other for half of an episode and there was nothing romantic, just starting to be friendly, no, this isn't some major point in the show. The same thing happened with Pacifica and Mabel in Golf War and I know a lot of people ship that too but I never see them whine and bitch about how it has to be in the show. And again I like this shop and hope it happens but shut the fuck up.
It'll happen in the epilogue because Gravity Falls isn't an "Explore relationships" show, it's a comedy/mystery where relationships only happen incidentally to further whatever gag or sitcom plot happens to be on the menu.
That's not a bad thing, it's just a difference in tone, not every show can be Steven Universe.
>p1 of two parter finale happens
>bill does something that'll destroy the world completely
>everyone is in shock
>soos pulls a 2K12 TMNT Casey jones
>"THIS. IS. AWESOME."
That's how I think will happen
It's not "hooking up with a rich girl", it's that dipper was competent and successful. don't let the femdom types fool you, 90% of padippica didn't exist before dipper got the upper hand on her.
Basically this. It felt like Pacifica really wanted Dipper to stay and enjoy the party with her, especially after it showed that she was putting up a facade with her bitchiness, and Dipper seemed more confident and eager to impress her after she showed that she was actually nicer than he first thought. It felt legitimate.
This ship was practically nonexistent before NMM. Hell, most considered it a crack ship before that, I certainly did. It's just that the episode showed the most romantic potential of anything in the show, the one ship that isn't a complete pipe dream. It truly speaks volumes about the quality of the episode when it single-handedly saved a character and started the most accepted ship now.
>fantasize about hooking up with a rich girl
Honestly, the low income fat friendless introvert I am, I'd suspect some Eliza Doolittle level game afoot. Normal girls don't even acknowledge me, now some lady in a mansion is attracted to me? Why? I have literally nothing to offer this relationship, by all intents and purposes I shouldn't even be noticeable to her. So, naturally, I'd suspect something ulterior, and it would paint the relationship in a foul light the whole time, like any minute her friend's going to hand over the deal money because the lumpy commoner said a line I was supposed to, and I'm let back off into my natural habitat of being ignored. Probably right when I stop worrying.
Don't get me wrong, if one of the River Oaks heiresses actually had an interest in me, I'd be flattered, but what do even give a rich girl like that that wouldn't seem like a kid making arts and crafts for his parents? I'd feel like an accessory or a project than some equal. And I'm not about to start asking to spend her money on stuff, so there's no point in fantasizing that. I mean, I bet half of the country club thinks I'm gold digging anyway, so why give them ammunition? It all feels like it would be an endless stressful wave of social requirements or expectations mixed with this wave of feeling like I didn't belong there or I was just someone's joke.
Hell, I'd probably break it off, tell her to go find someone actually worth her time with a real future instead of whatever the hell she saw in me.
Nobody's asking for it to be exactly like their fanfictions, most just want it to not be disappointing, which the second half of season 2 is in every considerable way.
>not every show can be Steven Universe
Why would any show WANT to be Steven Universe, anon?
>don´t like the initial episodes of Gravity Falls
>watch this one
Are there more episodes like this?
And while the shipping is nice, it would also be quite nice if they became good friends.
Steven Universe explore relationship like Korra does. Shows like Gravity Falls or MLP focus on adventures and friendship. Romance is usually made as a joke or to introduce new characters that were born recently.
>Steven Universe explore relationship like Korra does
Is that supposed to be a good thing? Because both of those shows handle that aspect pretty poorly.
This. Before NMN there really WASN'T a ship to speak of. I love both the Golf War and NMN because it's rare in a cartoon for a side character to get as much development as Pacifica got.
Also the only ship that the previous Pacif episode had was with Mabel, and maybe some shipping with Gideon but I can't really ship that guy.
His hair is just so ridiculous, it's like an old guy midget.
wendip only has one-sided attraction from dipper's pov. Wendy only sees him like her little brother, nothing more.
That's why I found the fake wendy scene in W2 was cringeworthy as hell
Wendy was hardly a character, despite being a part of the central cast she was explored less over the course of the entire series than Pacifica was in the 2-3 episodes dedicated to her.
What character defining moments did Wendy ever even have? Not telling anyone about the Lamby Dance?
I don't think this is entirely a bad thing, the lack of character depth kinda helps support the perspective of Wendy as an unattainable prize that Dipper really wants but that he neither truly understands or can ever have. But it does mean that Wendy ultimately isn't a very compelling character.
Padippica works because the characters both gel with each other and we actually understand what each of their personalities are.
Mine ain't happening either but I ain't crying.
the stupid thing is that Wendy doesn't even look like an unattainable prize, she is only 2 years older than Dipper, its really not that big of an age gap, they consistently play it like Wendy is 18 but she isn't, she is 15
It would basically be a high school junior dating and freshman, and I have seen that happen plenty of times
how did butch hartman manage to do shipping better than the manlet? i seriously cannot wrap my head around this.
it's about placement though. RA was despised because they forced candip out of nowhere and padippica darling were buttmad about it because NMM has affected them.
Imagine if it was placed long before NMM and right after ITB, where padippica still consider as crackship. The only option left is candy because their cute little interaction on S1 and short. Even though in the end, it was shutdown, shipper won't stop shipping it because there is no choice left for dipper's romance. And then when NMM comes out, I can imagine the ship wars will be much crazier
I liked Padippica, but I wouldn't have gotten buttmad if Dipper wound up with Candy or if they implied something could have happened later at the end of Roadside Attraction.
There's always MabelXPacifica to fall back on.
The best ship is Pacifica having a threesome with the twins, but that's even less likely than Pacifica/Mabel.
knew a girl in hs who parents kicked her out over dating a black guy.
after stalking her twitter recently, i learned that she's now a cam girl and trying to get into porn.
don't kick your daughterus out the home /co/.
its a bit disappointing that the best chemistry between two characters happened in a fucking video game.
She's gone through puberty, he hasn't.
They aren't starcrossed lovers, she just has no interest in a child, and most women don't. As for Dipper, as the manlet himself said
>crush on the babysitter
>Been shipping this since 2012
>It's been almost 4 years
Good god, I'm gonna miss Gravity Falls. It was fun /co/ didn't think there would be a western animated show to catch my interest again.
We could have had Dipper and Candy entering a monstermon match that inevitably goes wrong and winds up creating a bunch of weird monsters that they have to go round up together episode instead of Roadside Attraction.
probably another plot that was lost in the sands of season 3
thanks hack, have fun at fox being shitted on by zombie simpsons arrogant writers.
>She's gone through puberty, he hasn't.
>she just has no interest in a child, and most women don't
Come the fuck on mate.
She's 15, he's 13.
They should just have made her be 17-18 and him be 11-12, that's how they look and act anyway.
Timmy has a crush on a gal named missy, and wishes to be different type of personality. (Sensitive, emo..etc) well long story short, in the end Missy tells timmy that she likes him and they hold hands
>Steven Universe explore relationship like Korra does.
Korra WISHES it could explore relationships like Steven Universe, but that couldn't be further from the truth.
The story of Korra isn't about the relationships, the relationships are just bullshit tacked on at the end or middle of their poorly plotted "Defeat the villain" stories.
Not really. We never explored Wendy's past or family life, nor learn about parts of her character that goes outside the teenage tomboy stereotype. Pacifica was at least a character, Wendy was just a prize to be won.
What I would like to see happen if there's a mass-mindwipe ending, but probably won't:
Pacifica retains her memories and goes on to help who she came to consider her friends over the series at times she feels they need it. No one around her understands why she started acting differently.
I felt like Alex tried to turn Wendy into a loser. The fact we never seen her mom and that Manly Dan hangs out with Tyler a lot scares me.
>cool and relax, jk I'm actually stressed all the time.
>cared about Tambry breaking out of her cellphone. Turn into a jealous bitch when Tambry got with Robbie.
>Caring about Robbie at all
>she's literally the only girl his age in the entire town except for Grenda and Candy.
>She gets really depressed and lonely over her precious friends not remembering the important times they had together
>Eventually some event causes them to remember
>Dipper and Mabel apologize to Pacifica for forgetting
>She tries to act like she's fine, but loses her composure extremely quickly since her few actual friends mean the world to her
Someone already had this idea
How's about I post cute shipping pics instead?
There are plenty of girls in GF, Dipper is just too autistic to get one.
They probably come from outside Gravity Falls so that they can go to the concert.
It can still happen.
We only need a few seconds of it and we still have 44 minutes left
I'm even alright with an open ending so long as one of them sufficiently interacts with the other in a friendly way and not in a "one of them asks are you alright" kind of way which they then forget in the next twenty minutes
Ferb and the mad doc's daughter?
Yeah, I've seen that and it wasn't very good. But I may be a little biased here because I just hate that show, and the only funny character is always treated like shit.
>Pacifica hugs Dipper one more time after he and Mabel saves GF
>"Hah, I suppose you'll be handing me a dollar to forget about this, right?"
"Nah. This one's for free."
>and scene ends with a kiss on the cheek
Always remember the real reason this didn't work is because Alex is an insecure, self hating loser.
Inevitable and ultimately disappointing if they don't do a tease like that.
Then again it's already disappointing that this is the finale but I'll probably just be happy with what we get.
>tfw no Mabel teasing a mistletoe for her ships
Steven Universe is also about a group of sociopath rock girls raising an impressionable little boy because they were slavishly devoted to his mother and want to see her in him.
Don't even get me started on Pearl.
Padippica is cute and perfect!
CUTE AND PERFECT!
I didn't catch the 'between the pines' thing except for the last couple minuets. Just kinda seemed like a clipshow with a couple facts from alex that he's repeated at a bunch of conventions already.
Is it worth a download to see the whole thing?
It's so out of character, it's perfect.
>TFW finale Dipper falls after saving Pacifica. Candy literally swoops down and saves him giving him a kiss "Heh, Heh I like the way you scream like a baby, Dipper."
That kind of plot twist would re-fuel the shipping wars. I love it.
We got to keep hope strong anon. I'm with you.
Padippica works because it's incredible close to the sound of the name "Pacifica. It makes the ship roll off the tongue much nicer. Kinda like the way "Bipper" works so well to describe Bill-Dipper. Dippica doesn't sound like Dipper or Pacifica and is therefore inferior.
