I don't think this is entirely a bad thing, the lack of character depth kinda helps support the perspective of Wendy as an unattainable prize that Dipper really wants but that he neither truly understands or can ever have. But it does mean that Wendy ultimately isn't a very compelling character.

Padippica works because the characters both gel with each other and we actually understand what each of their personalities are.

Padippica works because it's incredible close to the sound of the name "Pacifica. It makes the ship roll off the tongue much nicer. Kinda like the way "Bipper" works so well to describe Bill-Dipper. Dippica doesn't sound like Dipper or Pacifica and is therefore inferior.
