Yeah and it only took WB to ape gotg for us to get that.
I think it was more The Flash that proved the WB started to embrace the fantastic elements of the source material. Just took to Arrow as an example. The first two seasons were pretty much The Dark Knight on TV, but then Flash came out and was all "Super powers all around! Time travel! A goddamn telepathic gorilla!" Then Arrow was all "Screw it, let's throw in some fucking magic!"
A shame the CW version of the Suicide Squad was scrapped for this, but if all goes well it will be worth it.
That only shows how retarded you people are, the first two seasons of Arrow were good, since then it's been crap. Different tones for different characters. But I guess the MCU has brainwashed you with their same-y tone all around.
>mfw don't know if Jai Courtney is really good as Boomerang or I just have the hots for him
So this is what it feels like.
>oh, haha, that was just the voices in my head!
Well that was the most cringeworthy line and delivery I've ever seen in a comicbook film.
Other than that I liked the trailer, but is Harley's first film appearance going to suck?
Seriously? How is that line not the absolute worst? "haha I have imaginary voices look at me" is the most overt, unsubtle, shallow and unimaginative way to try and establish her character. And she delivers the line awfully because she's probably aware of this.
dificult to say at the moment until we get a real longer trailer for cap 3
but i think it will be cap 3 > suicide squad > BvS in terms of being a good movie and fun.
in terms of money BvS might score good (because come on it's batman and superman)
yes mark. common is playing him. also this isnt confirmed that tattooed man is the villain but that is clearly tattooed man and we know he is in the movie but not part of the squad
An A.R.G.U.S. soldier turned into an actual argus by Enchantress.
This is Tattooed Man.
Notice the tentacles tattooed around his head?
i like both marvel and dc
but you have to admit with BvS
the first trailer was all super serious like mos
second trailer, they tried to copy marvel with the humor and for a movie about batman vs superman
they added wonder woman (skinny ugly jew) aqua man, luthor (as a jim carrey ridler knock off) and now doomsday (who looks like a cheap cgi cave troll from lord of the rings)
they need to do better to make it a better movie.
i'm still gonna watch BvS, but i have a feeling that both Cap 3 and suicide squad will be the better movies and also be more enjoyable
Not mismanaged at all, they are making sci-fi epics not bright silly pandering the everyman blockbuster crapfest.
You not being among that target audience doesn't make them bad products or on a ill intended path.
I'm on board with you. The only people who are on board with that shit are the lolsorandumb crowd who thinks she's a deadpool style comedic character or people thinking with their dick
I really wish they'd stop having to demonstrate the collars in the first 15 minutes of every Suicide Squad related thing. Fuck, in the original run we didn't have anybody get blown up until like the fifth arc or so.
Admittedly, it was Hangman
Ok, and? Still doesn't change the fact that the first two seasons of Arrow were dreadfully dull.
Moreover, a verity of tone is fine, I'll agree with you that everything being a quip-fest in the MCU has grown stale. but when I think superheros I want there to be some crazy fucking shit. If you're going to dress your protagonist up in a colorful costume, there better be more going on than just the run of the mill vigilante fare. If I want that kind of thing, I'd watch Die Hard or Rambo.
>A shame the CW version of the Suicide Squad was scrapped for this, but if all goes well it will be worth it.
Not a shame at all, CW version was shit. So nothing of value was lost.
>I hope it gets demonstrated on some random crook who's not part of the main squad
>They bring out another dude who tries to run away but it's blown up on the spot
>yfw it's fucking Kite-man
So were Bronze tiger and Plastique and Count Vertigo and many more, but Ayer chose Slipknot of all people.
I don't think any character is out of the realm of possibility at this point.
You and me. It's the kinda movie I would wanna watch even if I wasn't a fun of the comics. Over the top action movie with absurd characters killing each others.
Plus, I like Ayer. Fury was great and I even liked Sabotage. The guy films awesome action scene.
Why are people constantly going on about this killing Marvel? Is that the only reason why you want to see it? It won't kill it because MCU is (like it or not) the highest grossing movie franchise today. Why can't we just enjoy one without shitting on the other? Or better yet, can some of us at least stay neutral?
Its the highest grossing franchise because they vomited out 20 movies in the span of less than a decade.
Pound per pound franchises like Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings are far more successful.
That's some amusing bullshit you pulled from your ass.
Stop replying with made-up shit from now on, dumbass. If you can't contribute that's fine, no more attempts at genius deductions, you're no Sherlock.
The point is that it's displaying that the world wants more than the characters we get all the time
That there is a place for Booster Golds in the cinema
The movies may or may not be good but it allows for more variety
They used it in Beware the Batman. Granted, it never became her sword.
He still looks and sounds and acts like an enormous faggot and it doesn't change the fact that he still looks like richard ramirez. I don't understand what his race has anything to do with?
The problem I have with this already is it seems Harley and Joker's characters are simply being directed to "act crazy" which leads to stereotypical crazy tropes being littered throughout the performances.
It completely forgets that the terrifying moments with them aren't when they're being obviously crazy and we can't comprehend them, but rather when they're seeming somewhat sane, making sense to us in a way that is relateable.
would love it
Ezra is godlike as flash, it's just the assblasted tv show fags who don't like him
Christ, imagine if every Rogue member was as this good as Boomerang? imagine that shit in a flash movie, that makes my fucking dick hard
would watch, make flash like joker in ss, just kinda there as a threat to the team, and make him appear from time to time, and once in the end, make the story about the rogues
fucking book it
>race is very important to you
It's more important to me to be faithful to the characters and find the best actor they can to portray them
Will Smith certainly didn't have to audition for anything, they just wanted a big name.
Unlike SJWs like yourself you want everybody to be a PoC or gay or transgender for representation purposes, whether they're good or not is irrelevant
Love that joker.
Side note, love the trailer, looks like this film we be a blast, Harley is a cutie and I want to have Enchatress dominate me.
>Why does everything always have to be about the fucking Joker?
He's one of the most popular comic characters of all time
And he's probably the reason this movie is getting made
>And what does he get some mutation thing?
No he's not the main villain in this movie
>Are the movies now going to be about the fucking games?
I feel ya. I think Harley will be a worse offender than Joker, though. At least people recognize he's supposed to be scary as all hell. Harley, on the other hand....even her fans can't decide if she's tragic and abused, remorseless psychopath, or wacky genki girl. Even people say "all three", a good divergence or mix is never found. In my opinion.
>Harley, on the other hand....even her fans can't decide if she's tragic and abused, remorseless psychopath, or wacky genki girl.
No one but a handfull on tumblr landwhales believe that. No one.
Don't like Harley voice, trailer is pretty okay (but nothing outstanding) and whole thing looks fun, but my autism won't allow me to enjoy this. Her voice is part of her character, symbol of change from seriuos psychiatrist to batshit insane girl, I just don't feel this here.
Voice, outfit and little details create the character: when I think about Harley Quinn, I don't think about "oh, ok, she's from New Jersey". Her squicky voice from other media fits to "unstable" theme of her, accent less so. But as I said: it's just my autism scream "NOT MUH"
Not quite, although it IS an Alex Ross design.
>No one but a handfull on tumblr landwhales believe that. No one.
That is the character though
Landwhales believe she's some sort of role model and is some symbol of fem power when in truth her tragic side is very underplayed and she never really reaches the point of independence from Joker unless he's gone for whatever reason
Oh dear god, DC remembered that movies can be fun!
This might actually not suck!
>Amanda Waller assembles the Suicide Squad to perform black ops missions for the girlfriend.
>Meanwhile, Rick Flagg's girlfriend June Moon gets possessed by a witch and besieges Midway City with demons and monsters.
>The Squad has to get into Midway to disable the Enchantress dead or alive.
>Joker gets involved somehow, probably trying to get Harley back, since she apparently broke it off with him when he "went too far" and murdered Jason Todd.
Obviously, but you can do so with respect to the character in a better way than "lol I hear voices in my head. jk. jk". Show don't tell.
Magic trick with the pencil from Ledger's joker comes to mind.
Yeeeaaah, that's not the case like AT ALL.
First, She's clearly already possessed while with Rick Flagg, y'know since he says she's possessed by a witch. And really in a way like he's used to it by now.
Secondly, she actually offers her services to the Suicide Squad as a way to expel her powers so she doesn't lose control.
So yeah, way off.
The trailer reminds me of Escape from NY/LA.
>Sent into wasteland of a city
>Have methods of killing them if they don't perform their task.
I like it.
All it needs now is Will Smith to lose an eye.
Also for Croc to apparently die, then make a triumphant return, with another character proclaiming: "Croc? I thought you were dead!"
Ok, so I'm not sure how many of you will know who I'm talking about, but my theory for who the main threat is after dissecting the trailer, is actually someone who would scarely make DC's marketing team pure genuises.
Things that make this fit are, in the scene with that flume of evil whatever, you can see people moving around it like a ritual, and it could be helmets, but they have horns. And eyes that glow. So, either cultists, or demons.
And then Beelzebub is the Lord of Decay and Death. Remember the truck from early in the trailer? Looked super decayed to me.
And lastly, in his humanoid form Beelzebub has deep red skin, and if you look at the character who tears the subway car in half, especially at his hand, his skin is clearly red.
DCEU related so now that this 2015 Comic Con concept art is finally confirmed real...the top pic was suspiciously missing from the Green Lantern Corps hype reel
Seriously no one got a good look at the actor?
She offers her services to the team and I should of elaborated, Amanda Waller, you actually see her in the scene in the white house.
But she's not one of the prisoners, the Suicide Squad are the prisoners, she's more in a position that Rick is, so no, not part of the Suicide Squad, but not, not with them either.
The only flaw with that is explain the red skinned guy tearing through the Subway car.
It's not El Diablo as his powers are only fire based. And it's not Enchantress as she's, y'know, not a man.
Robbie as Harley is the weakest character in the trailer, the way she delivered her lines were a little too hammy even for Harley.
Everyone else seems spot on though, I'm really intrigued to see Will Smith as Deadshot.
Fuck me, I have NEVER really liked Katana all that much up until this movie. I think she might end up being my favorite character.
Does she have any good runs or what? Recommended reading?
Now to be entirely fair, this is more of a recent shift. Right up until MoS, as well as the success of Arrow and The Flash, WB basically wanted NOTHING to do with their cape properties, aside from Batman and Superman to a lesser extent.
You can't blame people for feeling the way they did when Marvel had their own cinematic universe well into like, Phase 2 or whatever while WB was kinda standing around, shuffling their feet going, "Well...people don't really care about anything other than Batman or Superman."
Just a few years ago one WB executive was saying that no one wanted a WW movie. Now we're getting one next year.
It's actually remarkable how fast they've changed their tone.
>It's actually remarkable how fast they've changed their tone.
I suspect Avengers making all the money had something to do with that, then phase 2 proving that these movies weren't burnt out for audiences after that.
Samefag here. Also to put things in a greater perspective, Marvel was busy giving people a Guardians of the Galaxy movie, and that was a team that NO ONE EVER thought would get a movie ten fucking years ago. Literally a team of, to mainstreamers, nobodies, and then Marvel put together a movie about them and made it a huge critical and commercial success. It was pretty much WB getting blown the fuck out when they couldn't even get a movie with some of their biggest properties, like Wonder Woman or a GL reboot, out before then.
Don't they have LotR and The Hobbit too?
Well yeah. That's kinda what I was implying. Marvel Studios pretty much blew WB right the fuck out and WB is playing catch up now to get some of that sweet superhero audience. They're doing a pretty good job so far, but in fairness, DC make up half of what most normies associate with superhero comic books, and yet they still couldn't give us anything more than Batman or Superman up until now.
I also suspect a lot of different people are in charge now. We have Zack Snyder and Geoff Johns running the show now, for better or worse, and at least they love superheroes and want to translate them to the big screen.
>i'm still gonna watch BvS, but i have a feeling that both Cap 3 and suicide squad will be the better movies and also be more enjoyable
This. I'm hyped as fuck for BvS and I have hope that it's even going to be good.
But it won't be better than SS or CA3. Maybe I'll enjoy it more than CA3 since I'm a bigger fan of DC and I might 'get more' out of it. I think it'll end up being a flawed, but good movie. At least they're taking criticisms of MoS into account.
>trailer with popular mid-70s pop/rock song synced to the action
>similar joke tagline: "Here comes a team so good it's criminal"/"Worst heroes ever"
>both released on the first friday of August
>criminals are forced to work together to save the world
>trailer features a character naming off a rap sheet while showing us the criminials do what they do
>a charismatic human main character (Smith/Pratt) not satisfied with their current life style, who both use guns, wear red and occasionally wear a mask covering their face
>scene with the characters getting abused by the prison guards as they get transported (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Al_EMwvmnV4 [Embed] vs. the begin of the SS trailer)
>stoic female swordsmen (Katana/Gamora) with swords for magic specific purposes (Soultaker/Godslayer)
>bald green guy with retard strength, strongest on team, has feud with female swordsmen and chokes them (Croc/Drax)
There's probably a few more I can't think of right now, but you can't fucking denying it DC fans.
So that 10th of a second shot of a woman slamming her hands on the hood of a car. Past Harley when Joker's fucking with her in Arkham or someone else? I can't tell more than that she's white in that brief second to place her face on Margot Robbie or not
>Does she have any good runs or what? Recommended reading?
I enjoyed her in the book she was created for, Mike Barr and Jim Aparo's Batman & The Outsiders, but I haven't read much else with her in it so I'm also echoing your question. Any more recent runs with her worthwhile?
>Any more recent runs with her worthwhile?
Not really. She popped up in a minor part in the Outsiders War arc of Green Arrow the other year. Most of her appearances in New 52 stuff has been pretty shit though.
>Another Will Smith movie
>OH I THOUGHT THIS WAS CHEERLEADER TRYOUTS BRUH, MY FAULT
Probably this scene.
Someone has to stand up to the emu menace
And if we die fighting Australia's winged oppressors, we die heroes deaths
>>criminals are forced to work together to save the world
Except these are actual criminals not Marvels quip filled lovable dolts. I garuntee they won't save the world with a fucking dance off.....
Do be fair, Gamora was an actual dangerous criminal. Drax apparently just violated peace treaty shit in his murderous rampage, and Quill was a space thief vs. space assassin.
Rocket and Groot did nothing wrong.
>Gamora was an actual dangerous criminal.
Which after her introduction (which is the only place it's ever mentioned and never shown) it's brought up again and all is apparently forgiven cos quips.
>Drax apparently just violated peace treaty shit in his murderous rampage
Same deal as Gamora. Mention how baaaaaad he is then he never does anything bad and it's never mentioned again with all being forgiven (he doesn't understand sarcasm get it lolololol so funny)
So did Croc file his nails and teeth or is he a mutant? Also, I dont think he'll end up a cannibal, just a misunderstood goof
This doesn't make any sense
This doesn't either. I explained why that dude was wrong.
You really think Woll Smoth was WB's best choice for Deadshot and not affirmative action/a-lister dibs?
Fuck mang, just got a chance to watch it. This is fucking everything I had wanted the other trailer to be. This one actually had some personality to it. Color me officially hyped.
Also company wars fags need to fuck off.
The cap special was pretty nice actually. A little upset that they didn't even mention howling commandos, but the whole thing really felt a little rushed. Honestly I think it would have been a lot better as a full hour instead of the 46 minutes with commercials. Other than that it was pretty nice.
fbi agent gets clocked
>feminism is dead
>that bit where he hides in the water when the guards come in
I don't understand why people were ragging on DC/Ayer for being ashamed of Killer Croc by not making him some retarded big mclargehuge like from the Arkham games.
I already love this Joker. Thank you, Jared Leto.
The way I saw it, she was making fun of the guards. She wasn't actually hearing voices, at least not as shown, but was playing with the fact that they might think she was. Not trying to be an apologist, because I think this Deadshot being the sentimental type is absurd, but I genuinely saw that as Harley being purposely obnoxious to the guards by being sarcastic with them.
So is his skin burning off here or am I seeing it wrong?
I don't mean the stuff in the acid, look at his back and his shoulder and arm. He looks like he's missing the skin around his shoulder and his suit is dissolving lower toward his elbow.
In both instances they "cucked" the whitest guy around. Plus I don't get how well "racemixing criminals" as a message goes if we're really gonna read into this. By that logic tumblr might've had hissy fit over how problematic it is.
or maybe they, did I don't go there
It just looks like his shirt is being dissolved. I don't see any skin damage.
He will be the worst part of this movie.
I also just noticed the filename. I just got this from image search...
i just saw someone saying they think "tattooed man" is actually joker. and the reason he has tattoos is bc he will use them with tattooed man's help. it really does look like joker's face in this pic
and also if you look at his extended arm it looks like he's wearing that crocodile skin coat in this pic. thoughts?
Really liking Leto's Joker so far. I think after Ledger people sort of gave the role a lot of mystique that it doesn't really need. "How could Leto possibly play the Joker? He's such a dark and complex character, no way he'll pull it off." People said shit like this, but the Joker isn't that complex, and Ledger's Joker was almost absurdly simply, no past, and no desires besides creating chaos. Leto's Joker looks like he's gonna be a lot more personal, rather than a concept.
looks like that thing wear the color literally bleaches off your clothes and the clothes become sort of sheer because of the water
I thought the clothes melted but you can tell Harley isn't naked
It definitely looks like Leto
What are the things that make up the outer circle and what do you think are in those bags?
Considering he'll probably wear the mask for a whole 2 or 3 scenes, it kind of is. They hired him for marquee value. His name looks good on a poster and it will get more casual viewers in seats.
Because of this we're gonna see Will Smith in a costume pretending to be Deadshot, not Deadshot.
Ledger's joker was "mysterious" and "enigmatic." It worked, but in retrospect, the character seems kind of vague. Some people seem to think he had some kind of complex ideological motivations, but as far as the movie showed, he just wanted to fuck with everybody and kill some people. Maybe some would rather have him as an enigma, but getting personal with him seems a lot more interesting to me.
That's the problem with superhero movies. Actors don't want masks and producers don't want their expensive talent to be veiled. That's why Cap hardly ever wears his cowl(?) and we see inside Tony's helmet all the time. You gotta show off what you paid for.
It means that the actor won't be portraying the character as completely as they could or that they'll be unconvincing. Will Smith won't play Deadshot as we know him - he'll play himself doing Deadshot things. Kind of like how Star Lord was sort of just Chris Pratt being Chris Pratt.
>It means that the actor won't be portraying the character as completely as they could or that they'll be unconvincing.
No, it means that no matter what you'll see him as Will Smith first and foremost.
>There are still people who act as though you have to like Marvel OR DC.
>There are still people who don't want both of the Big Two to have good movies.
>There are still people hoping for either Marvel or DC's cape flicks to be bad so they can lord the fact that their side is "better" over everyone on the other side.
This movie looks like shit.
>bad guys acknowledging that they're bad guys
Happens in real life too, anon. Not everyone wants to be looked at with pity for being "misunderstood." There are plenty of people who do terrible things to prove how "bad" they are.
>mfw this looks like one old those trashy, ultra-violent, obscuro gems you'd find in random dvd piles at grocery stores
no, she was on set but the scene we filmed was joker's nightclub. margot robbie does like a strip tease dance in a glass box and then has a scene with leto and common. you see the scene for a split second in the trailer, she's holding a chain and doing a shooting action
big willy wasn't on set, margot seemed nice. as extras you don't really talk to the main cast at all. leto was in character the whole time and would break into his laugh randomly in between takes.
gonna go with margot, the other girl was hella cute too
this is the song they used for the dance scene, they played it like 100 times and had us all basically go nuts and party to it, no idea if it'll be in the film
they filmed a few takes of dialogue with a lot of f bombs from leto, I guess they won't use those though as it's going for a PG13
harley does her dance routine, meanwhile common and joker are talking about some business matter, joker calls harley offer and like offers her to common's character, then joker starts like fucking with his mind and drives him insane and common shoots himself in the head, afterwards joker and harley laugh it off and run out of the club together
I like the route they're going with croc, he's got the skin condition and other crocodile features without going overboard and being Leatherhead from TMNT.
>he was wearing a pink shirt
>she was wearing a blue shirt
>the colors melt off and die her hair
>tfw I thought those were strings with marshmallows attached to the hat
I've seen people trying to upload "Let's Watch" videos of them watching tv shows like Lets Players.
Why are women surprised that a pack of degenerates act like degenerates? I remember a recent hateful 8 article, and how it's supposedly misogynistic, you mean scumbags act like scumbags? Well golly gee. Discourse like this is the reason why we rarely get female villains, something I believe to be severely missing from the MCU.
>Joker shows up towards the climax
>Enchantress leaves Julie Moon's body and jumps into his because why not
>He goes full Emperor Joker in the last 15 min
Leto's hinted that there might be something supernatural going on with his Joker, like that he might be a lot older than he looks (Leto claims that he listened to a lot of 1920s gospel music to prepare because of that) and that he may be delving into shamanism. Joker getting powers doesn't seem too far fetched.
>the woman is an escaped criminal who together with her brother is responsible for everyone's deaths including civilians.
I thought it was compelling because she is an awful person like the rest, but it's executed in a hilarious way to the point where she's likable.
You mean WB shouldn't listen to his idea of making the Death of Superman (aka the best Superman story ever) into a series of films?
He's basically a casual fuck that's only ever read the most popular DC comics ever.
I think in the case of The Hateful Eight, QT actually does a really good job establishing that Daisy really is just as awful as the rest, and that when John Ruth hits her, it's because he likes hurting people.
Also, she willingly goads him into violence, like, every time. I don't remember her ever being a 'victim.'
She was in shackles for most of the movie, yet she held the all the power. That's pure pottery right there. Sure she got hers, just like Hans Gruber got dropped from a building.
what a total fag...
>the Death of Superman (aka the best Superman story ever)
Like seriously what a fag...
I wonder how MovieBlob is reacting to this trailer, Slipknot hitting that fbi woman probably triggered him something fierce.
No, he actually liked it. Dude loves his trashy violence
Given that Leto seems to be doing the "shirtless and fucked up" look half of the time, you're probably right.
I wish we could get a movie Joker like BTAS Joker.
It seems like they're trying to hard to make him more psychopathic and over the top with his killing. The next one will probably rip his face off like Joker did in Death of the Family.
I mean, Grant Morrison said Leto called him to talk about the Joker. The problem is, once you ask Grant Morrison about something, there's no stopping him. He probably told him all about the Hypercrisis and how the Joker is real and shit.
>Grant Morrison explaining the Hypercrisis and Joker's supersanity to an intense method actor playing a deranged supervillain.
It didn't occur to me until now what a huge fucking powderkeg that is.
>being early teens
>Batman R.I.P. was 8 years ago
King Shark is in the credits on IMDB, so who knows
What I'm wondering, is who is Scott Eastwood playing?
Oh my god. This is genuinely going to be one of the worst movies of all time. No higher than 5% on rotten tomatoes. Calling it now.
This is going to go down with The Last Airbender as one of history's worst film adaptations.
Holy shit what a mess.
It's very popular with boomers and gen Y people so you can probably hear it once a day on the radio. It's widely considered the greatest pop song in history by those people.
same universe, no, same multiverse, yes. Flash and Arrow take place on Earth-1, and Flash features characters from Earth-2. Man of Steel, BvS, and the upcoming Flash movie are (no official number but for the sake of it) Earth-3. Supergirl and Suicide Squad are probably also Earth 3, but there's a chance they aren't
>ywn have your soul stolen by best waifu's sword
>what is the multiverse: the post.
Also, sooner or later we'll be talking about the live action universe (movies and tv-series, past present and future ones) as Multiverse-3, mark my words.
