>bring Steve back after all of Rememnder's fuckups
>give his a shit costume
WHY FUCKING BOTHER
JUST KEEP HIM A NIGGER IF YOU'RE GOING TO CONTINUE STUPID AESTHETIC BULLSHIT
FUCK THIS COMPANY
This is so fucking stupid. You would think the point of a line-wide relaunch would be to simplify things.
Marvel editorial needs to get their act together by making a solid 5 year plan and sticking to it
What if....A Cap for every State?
There's Pete, Miguel, Miles, Isn't Pete using Prowler to stand in as well?
Plus there's alternate Spideys but they're kind of cheating.
something's off about it but i can't tell what. Either way it's shit.
This would've been an ideal opportunity to actually upgrade his suit in useful, interesting ways, if not giving him actual armor.
He's got a hardlight strip at the base of a boring shield. How bleeding edge...
Also, NO STRIPES?!!!
Wait, that reminds me, there's ALREADY two Caps. Captain America 2099 is a supporting character in Spider-man 2099 and that's set in present 616-8.
So, counting Steve, that's 3 Captain Americas.
The fact that if they wanted to go out of circular they probably should have just given him the original shield or something more stylistically similar. It's so barren, like if U.S.Agent made a design of it.
Let's have more. In fact let's do like Batman Inc and have Caps allover the entire world. It doesn't matter if the country isn't America because America owns the world anyway.
Irrelevant with the halfie supers, it's what the public decides you're more akin to. Kyle Rayner is half-white, when was the last time it seemed he exuded anything other than just white though?
It's preachy, but it's fun. I can understand it losing its sales.
Captain America 2099
Danielle Cage Cap
Spider-Gwen's Captain America
Hot damn, you can have a Captain Americaverse!
cap 2099 is stuck in the present too
Wasn't he originally created white and then he found out his deadbeat dad wasn't even his biological dad?
Does New Nova count as white or hispanic? I remember when everyone just thought he was white, but do people even know about his hot Spanish mom?
Her husband has cancer.
I think the problem with Old Steve was that it wasn't very consistent as to how fit he was. In Squadron Supreme, Nighthawk mentioned that he needed all of his focus to beat him, even though the fucker was way too old to be out in the field in the first place. Deodato draws him as ridiculously ripped, but that's Deodato, so eh. Other times we see him walking around with a cane like he should be. So I guess this just makes Uncanny Avengers a bit easier to deal with.
No iirc the chart showed that thor had a lower drop percentage but still sold less. Kinda like how iron man had a huge drop percentage from it's #1 to #2 but still outsells most of the line.
Two of every original X-Man
Two Hawkeyes, both of them shit
5 or 6 Deadpool
Two Iron Man, I think
Two Power Men, maybe
Two Ant-Men, one of them a gay terrorist I believe (/co/ told me this)
Twenty or more meme Spider-females
It was using "percentage drop" as an actual statistic.
It didn't account for femThor having a high debut, thus a higher initial drop, but settling at 70K, right at the top 10, which was higher than where Thor was.
>That new shield and costume design
Are they gearing up for a new captain America corps?
>Hydra is back, and stronger than ever.
>JUST KEEP HIM A NIGGER IF YOU'RE GOING TO CONTINUE STUPID AESTHETIC BULLSHIT
The fact that he has a different shield than usual kinda tells us that Sam's still gonna be Captain America, just there'll be at least 2 now
>Cap is back
>Starlord is back
>soon Thor will be back
>Spider-Man never left
>Dead No More will surely be Wolverine
What was the point of all those changes? Like, this whole All new ALl different is the biggest scam Marvel ever did.
>Everyone being triggered by the new Design and Shield.
I'm dying of laughter.
I dont care, the real question is will Sam keep being a werewolf?
Yes. Kyle Rayner was made retroactively mixed like a decade after he was created.
Just like they did with Grayson like 65 years after he was created.
I'm sure there are more of them.
Their motto is literally "cut off one head and two more take their place".
One of the cool things about Hydra is that they have so many "leaders" who are all constantly dicking each other over that you can wipe out one wing and the others just move in, take over territory and then recruit a nazi with superpowers to become a potential leader.
White Nick Fury is still The Watcher and will never again be mentioned, lest someone remember that we haven't always had a Black Nick Fury.
Is it true that Ultimate Fury made it over? I would be fine if they replaced the current guy with him
I don't think there's actually a chest-high limestone wall that crosses the front of the Capital building like that, but it's been a while since I last visited DC
I hate the design, but there's literally no reason for him not to have a forcefield of some kind when so many others do.
If nothing else, one or more adjustable fields would let him protect infinitely more team mates / civvies than a 3ft circular area.
It's possible I can forgive Slott, I didn't hate him until Superior.
Honestly, how the fuck do we tell the difference? They're both Samuel L. Jackson, and they both go by the name Nick Fury, even if one of them is actually called Marcus Johnson.
How bad could Marvel financial situation get if they cancel all the shit of the A-list? Like they start putting books (good or bad it doesn't matter) of only B-C-D list. Teams made of B-C-D List only. Could Disney help them as an investment for the future or is the industry dead and that would be the final blow?
This is still his best costume
just use the standard shield or the enegy shield
In theory they could stick it out until people got used to the new status quo or new readers were attracted.
In practice? Who fucking knows. Disney wants them to make money, not take risks, and comic readers
myself includeddon't know what they want because after years of abuse by the Big 2 we've got some form of reverse Stockholm Syndrome
Basically you know how Marvel has those Pundits or talking heads spouting "Well Captain America would do this" or "Cap wouldn't stand for..." whatever, well Sam decided he wasn't going to put up with whatever FOX or CNN in the Marvel U using him to prop up their views, So he gets on national Television and lays it all out....Sadly people including SHIELD don't like that. Plus D-man and Misty Knight are his supporting characters. It's a good read. and honestly I hope Sam keeps the costume after he gets knocked down to Falcon in 10 months.
I'm honestly impressed they didn't go full movie appearance for Cap's return, considering how they've done that for several characters lately
>Yondu is now canonically Michael Rooker
Depending on the writer, Fury Jr. has no personality to distinguish him, they basically just let everyone assume he's Fury from the MCU.
I haven't read anything of Ult Fury since Ultimate Avengers, and that was shit.
Did they ever fix him, or did they just continue to make him more and more retardedly despicable?
Imagine if he lost the ability to use one of his arms.
>Shit, there goes my arm.
>Good thing I have my handy healing nanomachine serum that I keep in my-
>And the greatest part [is] the shield, indeed! Its shape is similar to the original shield Cap had back in the 1940’s, the pointy one, but this one has two main innovations: its tip can deploy an “energy blade” so Cap can cut into things, and the shield can be divided in two, so Steve can use both halves, one with each arm.
The fuck is this
>Did they ever fix him, or did they just continue to make him more and more retardedly despicable?
Oh yeah, he was the guy who ordered SHIELD to attack 616 Earth to save 1610, so he's indirectly responsible for the heli-carrier that landed on Tony and Steve as the worlds ended.
I really wanted Steve to come back... but not like this.
Also god-fucking-damnit if I'm not triggered by Wilson keeping the shield. IT'S STEVE'S FUCKING SHIELD JUST GET A NEW ONE FALCAP REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>So how long until Jane dies and Odinson is back as Thor
When does Thor: Ragnarok come out?
Because the films have done a good job of returning characters back to their status quo over the last few years. Cap, Spidey, Guardians, Iron Man, etc.
Costume's okay, the shield looks a bit eh, no idea how the fuck it's gonna look like when it splits into two parts.
Also, energy blade? What happened to smashing shit so hard that it just gets cleaved in half?
>we've got some form of reverse Stockholm Syndrome
So you're saying that the Big 2 (the captors) are beginning to sympathize with the readers (their hostages), ala Lima Syndrome?
Or do you mean that the readers/hostages are expressing apathy and indifference while having negative feelings towards the Big 2/Captors?
Either way doesn't make much sense. I think you just slapped that on there to make yourself look smarter/informative.
It's like no one this thread knows how to capitalize on market awareness. This book, and CW II, are timed to coincide with the next Cap movie. Brand synergy demands that Steve's in the suit in the cover.
Shit, I fucked that up.
I meant that we've reached a point where no matter what they do, we cannot react positively because we're convinced that we're going to get screwed again.
Which really isn't related to Stockholm Syndrome at all, is it? Really more normal reaction to abuse.
I just got off work, I'm tired.
I would argue that the problem isn't that Steve is back in the suit, it's that he's back in the suit so quickly that the change seems pointless
I mean they knew they were going to keep making cap movies when they Depowered Steve in the first place
Yeah because Becky had ducking respect for Steve he want just a "friend" of cap he was a damn brother in arms. Sam should of never have been Cap. If marvel wanted a black cap bring in the patriot from new avengers not birdman.
He's already Jewish. Every character Bendis writes is Jewish as long as he's writing them.
Even devout Catholic Matt Murdock and devout Khonshu-ist Marc Spector were Jewish under Bendis. The entire Guardians of the Galaxy? Space Jewish. "Flark" is just "oy vey" in Marvel Basic.
Shit man, they should have given THAT to FalCap. Him flying around and cutting niggas up with energy blades then turning it back into a shield sounds tight as fuck.
Steve doing it sounds horribly cringey though like what the fuck.
You don't even need bootleg. Thors ended with Ultimate Thor's Mjolnir landing in Old Asgard. It looks like an axe and Odinson became worthy again when fighting the Beyonders. I'd be shocked if his next appearance doesn't have him using it.
That's alright. I shouldn't have accused you like that. Been fighting a cold/sinus infection for the past 5-6 days that doesn't want to go away. Totally miserable.
But yeah, it's pretty much "Fool me once, Shame on you. Fool me Twice, Shame on me."
With Sam they were responding to "market demand" and bad press. In this case they're using the tried and true method of market saturation. This a business and good businesses respond to the situation to capitalize at the margins. Plot is only a vehicle to push units.
>Captain America Corps
How the fuck is he young again!? Did he take more super expensive drugs?
Reading for continuity is doing it wrong, reading for characters getting into different situations and seeing how they uniquely handle it is fun.
Which is why I have no want to read Marvel until they give half of their staff the axe. It's not about writing good stories right now, it's about writing a book in between the inevitable next relaunch that will only lead to the same situation.
pick and choose what's good, ignore everything else.
That's why I actually like the endless renumbering. It's easier to find Comic #1-12 (2012) than Comic #276-289.
Through selective endorsement you can create for yourself an optical illusion of a rich, virile setting that's just as satisfying as a real one
to all the people saying they will make a captain america corps. they wont
that would force marvel to acknowledge that US agent exist, and we all know that marvel will never do anything to go against its tumblr masters
we will never ever get our favorite racist, bigoted asshole back
>Mishmash of patches of colors
>Buttfucking ugly shield that should at least be the OG triangular one
>NOT EVEN PAINTED ON THE SIDES
Looking at this costume hurts my soul, I'd rather have nothing.
Ask us, we know if things are good or bad without reading them!
Generally speaking? Follow writers, not characters, and always pirate the first three issues before actually paying for something
Just yesterday I was wondering why they haven't tried to go back to Cap's original shield, seeing how revamps of first appearances is a thing again. But this... this is just boring.
Oh, and the suit's overdesigned as well, but that's to be expected of modern Marvel.
He was suffering from the side-effects of the original super soldier serum back then, then falcon replaced him...and now he's back.
the next thing you'll know is that the original Thor will be worthy of his hammer back
The description of the new shield reminds me of Gundam Deathscythe's Buster shield.
Well, he wore the US Agent costume as "The Captain" when the US government stripped Steve of the Captain America persona and gave it to John Walker, who eventually became the US Agent.
Completely agree. I will never fucking understand how a fucking costume gets books sales. Like, Rogers couldn't sell well in the Super Soldier book (then turned a mini for that) with this suit, but the body condom will do?
I mean it's not bad but cap tries not to kill people it would be better as stun rods or something less lethal
>Wasn't he originally created white and then he found out his deadbeat dad wasn't even his biological dad?
Kyle was originally created as Irish American, then 6 years later Judd Winnick had him meet his dead beat dad who turned out to be Mexican.
Have they learned nothing from the Green Lanterns? Having multiple characters with the same name and roughly the same abilities just makes internal conflict about who should be the main guy
First of all this >>79139392
secondly thank god, now if we could just get back the real Thor.
gotta have that representation anon, gotta show that anyone can be anyone! Blacks can be whites! Men can be women! Cats can be dogs! A bowl of jello can be a golf club! we need to show how accepting we are!!!
Real Thor is still a part of the book.
Though who knows what it means.
Maybe Whor will stick around maybe she'll just get shipped off.
Maybe they'll just wait till her hype wears off.
Isn't it confirmed that both Steve and Sam will be fighting for Team Tony? and for that matter Spider-man is fighting for Carol's side? Against his two biggest mentors? Man that's some bullshit but I guess they had to make people root for Carol's team somehow.
I like to imagine Marvel has gone full crazy and is sitting there thinking "those awful white people always complain when we take away one of their heroes. So we'll just make like six or seven of the same hero and have them all be a different race and gender and EVERYONE will be happy"
Nah I'm sure they WANT those awful white people to complain.
This may be desperate flailing to be relevant since ANAD apparently isn't the hit they wanted, or maybe they always had this planed as the next step. But ultimately they tried to sell thei legacies as organic steps and not just a gimmick capitalizing on the whole representation schtick and that leaves it so they can't just back out and do their whole "X IS BACK" bullshit.
>one each of Jean Grey and Cyclops currently alive
>those additional Deadpools (not counting 2099) will be back to their own costumes
>implying pooinloo Giant-Man is a villain
the new shield gimmick is pretty stupid, but would probably work better with falcon. imagine the shield spliting in 2 and becoming/ going over his wings so he can shoot wing bolts or something with the laser tips
I'm going to say something.
And I know this is 4chan so I have to expect you guys to rip me to shreds but here it goes:
Would it be a big deal if Steve Rogers came back as a combination Falcon and Cap, but the biggest change was he was a black guy? Would it be huge if Steve Rogers was retconned as a black man?
>retconned as a black man
That would be retarded. How the hell would they pull that off?
I can handle legacy characters. If they're well written, it's fine.
But taking an existing character and going "they were actually black/hispanic/a woman/whatever all along" is just stupid.
>WHOOPS FALCON AND CAP ARE THE SAME CHARACTER AND HAVE A COOL BACKSTORY FROM THIS
>Also he is black
Would that really bother you so much? Would it be that big of a deal? Like, the same dude punching Hitler on a cover a comic but just...darker.
No, that'd be super dumb. If you're going to make a minority character, let them have their own damn story. If they made a whole new universe? Maybe, but they'd have to be a whole new damn character as well.
Okay let me fucking ham this shit even more up for you. Steve Rogers, and a Female falcon have a baby named Steve JR before WW2. Super Solider stuff happens to help him keep up with his parents who are dead or something. He's an orphan. Also black. Now he's Steve Rogers Captain America. He's the same character but a shade darker and you would still shit your pants and scream?
But I'm talking if this shit was Canon. Like, if Steve Rogers was Black. Would you guys really fucking hate it that much? Like, if he grew up in extreme poverty, like the shittiest version of america because of how blacks were treated in the 40s. So he like saw america at it's worst and still loved it, and still enlisted, and still became a super solider and frozen and blah blah blah.
Would you guys really hate it if Cap was a shade darker than you?
There's like a Civil War where this girl criticizes cap because he's never watched a stupid video online so he's out of touch with what America is. Could you imagine if some black dude from the 40s turned around and was like "Bitch I got rocks thrown at me for going to the wrong school. I've seen the worst of people, I've seen the worst of this country. What the fuck do you even know about america?"
Anon you gave him a ridiculously stupid relaunch premise.
You decided the best way to make him black for no reason was to make him the child of an alternate reality version of himself.
He's obviously not the same character ontop of being a really stupid premise.
I think it'd be better to just ask, would you be alright if Steve was just black. And no, I don't think I would especially not in today's climate.
I can't even accept Superman's New52 costume.
>Hey 4chan, considering the Cap title was held by a black guy for quite a while recently what would you think if we rebooted the universe with a black Steve Rogers
>Well we're not, thank god. Fuck you.
Do you guys think Rick wanted a big three act story with Steve incapacitated for the second and part of the third acts but when he left marvel they decided to get rid of everything he started?
He said in the first issue that his second favorite comic was Captain America, I bet he had big plans that will neger see the light of day.
with the point that Rick is gone, along with Hick, what talent does marvel really have at this point? Fine Nick Spencer's good. Tom King seems to be the only guy doing something truly standout with the visions, and he is not exclusive to Mahvel. so who do they have? are they really banking the whole cow on slott and bendis? cause that feels like a gamble that DC will end up winning. (or they would if marveldrones didn't just follow shit no matter what).
yea it's really weird right? Soule was amazing on swamp thing, I wouldn't change a thing about his run, but over at marvel... he just seems... mediocre? I mean he isn't bad but nothing by him stands out.
You have a point with Lemire but from what I hear his xmen with ramos on art (predictably) sucks. I'm hoping his Old Man Logan and Moon Knight will be better, particularly MK, he seems like he'd really be suited for the character.
I'm cautiously wonder if Sharon is still old in this. She looks like she's been rejuvenated in the pic, but she also has kind of an old face going. I'm just not sure what to think here. Are they trying to undo remender's stuff entirely?
that's another one, he made Red Lanterns one of the best books at DC! Then he writes Death of Wolverine... I guess it was good? it certainly wasn't bad but eh, it needed an extra issue or two. I don't even know what he's writing at marvel right now but I know I'm not following any of it.
>Hydra is back
So, will thet FINALLY resolve all of Remender's unresolved Hydra plots like the Inner Council, Madamme Worm, Brain Drain, Cassandra and the traitor in the Avengers and all the other superteams?
The completely uneven balance of the colors (seriously, what's with all the blue), and the retarded bottom Lazer part, are really terrible. Its like they were trying to fuse the original two shields together, but they took the worst aspects of both and failed in every considerable way.
This is totally shameless
I like old Marvel stuff, but holy fuck how can anyone unironically like and support this absolutely shameless money-grabbing way Marvel operates. Legacies need to be respected, and this whole thing of changing up Marvel with ANAD crossed with movie synergy has made current Marvel a complete and total mess.
Wait what happened to Cap's classic shield, why is he using something you'd expect to see USAgent swinging around?
If he needs a new shield and the basically magical invincible one isn't available why doesn't he just go back to using the projected energy shield generator he was using for awhile?
It reads like trashy pulpy high energy stuff. I don't like it too much but it does have some good points to it.
So... does this mean the one drop rule applys? Or do we go into fractional representation? 30%?
There's a captain sweden joke here that I'm itching to use, but I think it would be in bad taste.
Didn't Punisher wear the cap outfit for a while? Or are we still trying to scrub that from our memories?
She was working, couldn't manage the sheer amount of work required to pay his hospital bills (probably had multiples) or at some point she presumably spiraled into depression, got fired from her job and after she had been fired she couldn't get any jobs other than stripping because her resume basically had her as being fired from her last job.
We Captain Americorp now!
Is that meant to be a Captain Spider? It looks terrible.
the MCU can exist, the people in charge of disney need to realize though that nobody will start buying comics because of the movies and that the comics don't need to revolve around the movies
I just hate how Marvel is trying to have its cake and eat it too. Fuck this.
They're trying to make a big deal out of how progressive and shit they are for giving legacy titles to POC and women. Like, 'oh look! Our new Thor is a woman?! Yes, but she's not she-thor or anything she's fucking THOR look how cool this is we're taking a bold new step yadda yadda all new all different'
which in itself is a gross mentality anyway, like if you really wanted to just make fucking Falcon leader of the Avengers, you don't need to up his importance by giving him a white man's title, but whatever, the names sell right?
BUT AT THE SAME FATHERFUCKING TIME they're trying to pander to the fucking movie goers who are gonna walk out of Cap 3 and wander into a comic store because they're such a 'huuuuge nerd' and not undertand why Cap is black now. Hence, we gotta have two. Which undermines giving Sam the title in the goddamn first place.
Just fucking commit, how hard is it? Pick a fucking direction and stick to it. Jane's our new Thor? Cool, but don't have Odinson being ALSO THOR CAUSE MOVIES over there in the corner and still act like you're such a cool, progressive company. Fucking marry off Peter. Retire Steve. Do literally anything but what you're doing now.
TLDR; Marvel has no respect for their characters or audience and need to re-evaluate or go fuck themselves.
Yes, unless you're offended by a supervillain making Trump jokes.
Also, it's subtly anti-SJW, which is something we should be supporting.
whatever happened to succumbing/suffering from the side effects of the original super-solider serum? wasn't it to the point that he's confined to a wheelchair most of the time?
Exactly. Virtually every other post-Battleworld costume redesign is more modest and "practical" and SJW friendly. I didn't expect Captain America of all comics to be one of the last bastions of cheesecake. (It's also is very "blackspliotation" - along with Capwolf and vampire Redwing, it gives the whole series a wonderfully campy feel to offset all the serious political discussion.)
And then there's Diamondback's monologue...
Vita Rays. Cap got exposed to Vita Rays, so he doesn't have negative side effects like everyone else who's gotten a dose of the serum.
But if Jane is so fucking great at using the hammer, why would she give it up? Real Thor will probably end up with the Ultimate Thor's hammer from the SW Thors mini since it ended up on earth.
No and they never will. I'm certain of only 2 things in this universe.
1, Aaron doesn't know what Fury said either.
2, He feels some massive sense of Nolanesque artfag smugness about the whole thing. Like he's created some grand work by not having/giving an answer.
But that' not what he's doing. He has no intention of figuring it out later. He wants to sit back and marvel at what a brilliant artist he is for creating what is in his mind his generation's mystery for the ages.
I think the problem is that he only has one glove pouch (per glove?)... I mean seriously? Thats nowhere NEAR enough pouches!
>TOO MANY CAPS
>"Bitch I got rocks thrown at me for going to the wrong school. I've seen the worst of people, I've seen the worst of this country. What the fuck do you even know about america?"
That'd be fucking perfect, honestly.
I'm happy Steve is back to being Cap. I am rarely a fan of legacy heroes taking over. I think it best they have their own identity like Nightwing. I know Sam will stay as cap, maybe they will change his name, and differentiate him enough to be his own hero instead of a placeholder.
It was too meta, right out of the gate it tried to preemptively anticipate real world reactions to Sam being Cap but instead of trying to be a underlying arc it became the plot itself.
Also they made Misty act like a justified cunt towards Steve for no other reason other than he's an old white guy.
I kinda do like the corporate Serpent Society & I like seeing D-Man being allowed to have his shit together (like that'll last).
>where this girl criticizes cap because he's never watched a stupid video online
Ah yes, that was Paul Jenkins using his self-insert.
