John K. dad.

The only one who wasn't an inept moron.

Nigel

It's really not fair when nearly all cartoon couples follow the retard husband sexy/smart wife formula.
>>
>>79006542
They're all pretty shit tbqh

Does Arnold's grandpa count? He did raise him

Fuck, I knew I was forgetting a few. Roster updated.

>>79006574
Sadly no. They gotta be biological dads. Grandparents/Uncles don't count.
>>
>>79006588
In that case I gotta give it to Nigel, he cares about his kids and isn't functionally retarded
>>
>>79006542
Better idea

Get the cartoon network dads and nick dads to battle to the death.

No Professer Membrane? Or is this a thread for "good" fathers?
>>
>>79006818
>Professer Membrane
There are still a few contenders that I more than likely overlooked, but are also qualified, like Membrane. Feel free to consider or mention them

>>79006796
Preferably the main dads of the a respective series should be the ones contending here. As in the most prominent example of a dad. If we included him we'd have to include ALL the rugrats dads, which would saturate the roster.

Nigel, because he can do this with his hands

Great taste

If I had to pick one of the stupid ones, my personal favorite is Jack Fenton.

As far as smart dads go, Nigel wins by default.

What about him?
>>
>>79006818
Well, Jack Fenton is a pretty lousy dad for a lot of the same reasons as Membrane. Ironically he is a great husband.
>>
>>79013026
He's got my vote
>>
>>79013026
He's not the main character's dad though, and I think that's what OP said he's going for
>>
>>79015755
OP said "most prominent example of a dad" and he clearly is in LoK's case
>>

Jack Fenton

As a dad
Hugh
>>

I wouldn't consider Stu more main that Chazz, they got similar screentime

So, Hugh, Nigel and Ray confirmed for god tier daddies?
>>
Leonard from Angry Beavers as well, but he was a pretty bad dad. He had a few episodes in the show, but mostly made his boys miserable even if they all loved one another.
>>
>>79020139
Kicking them out of the house was a pretty dick move
>>
>>79020002
All I remember about him is his ability to make rhyming lectures about a kite until his sun had a fantasy about launching him into deep space to die. Also he named his newborn child Cleopatra "Dirt Bike" Funnie.
>>
>>79020096

Ray was kind of negligent and gave shitty advice. Hugh is just fuckin crazy.

Nigel is the best dad. Also Chuck Finster Sr.
>>
>>79006853
Chas would be the only other contender for good dad from Rugrats though. Drew was a subpar dad and a worse friend, we barely saw Howard, and Lou prestiged to grandpa tier.
>>
>>79020766
Is that not an American tradition?
>>
>>79006588

Raymundo the Rocket Power dad.

He has a nice restaurant right next to the beach.
You can get a part time job there easy.
He is pretty chill unless you fuck up like a retard.
Hangs out with Tito so is like having a cool uncle too.
He surfs.
He has a nice house.

Suzy's father was an award winning writer on a cartoon and took care of his family.
>>
>>79020851
Negligent how? He took his kids to Mount Baldy on the regular for snow sports and scouted for good, vacant beaches to have some quality surf time with them. He gave them plenty of attention for a single father and business owner with one other employee.
>>
>>79016992
Otto was a regular fuck up while Reggie fucking out was almost out of character.

Maybe picking up fights with other girls but Raymundo doesn't give a shit about it, so she is a pretty good daughter.
>>
>>79006588
Raymundo because MAGNETIC FORCE JACK!

Hard to place Jack. He did genuinely put in a lot of effort, and despite constantly talking about how he wanted to skin Danny Phantom alive all the time, he was always really accepting the 3 or so times he learned his boy was the ghost kid.

Timmy's dad is %150 the worst. I don't think there's a single episode that I've ever seen were he actually seems to genuinely care about Timmy. Plus between Timmy's dad and mom, they were so bad Timmy got fairy godparents over a kid who lived in a fucking trailer park.

Nigel is the best though.
>>
>>79021017
Oh shit, forgot about Randy. Most successful dad in the show by far. I'd say the only thing hurting his ranking is lack of screen time and possibility that work put a little distance between him and his family, that he still no doubt cared for. The constant moving from city to city must have been a little difficult for the children though.
>>
>>79020002

I can picture this guy not giving that much od a fuck about Doug's problem, saying something '' don't worry, that stuff happens when you grow up, is just a phase.'' and leaving the room kind of laughin while Doug still feels like shit or is worried about something

am I wrong?
>>
>>79021017

I agree with the other anon, he sounds perfectly fine but you never got to see the guy too much

HE'S A STEER.

Not a bad dad, a bit hot headed, but always came around at the end. Caring for Heffer, letting his wife drive his car, coming to terms with Heffer about his Burping Talent. He's just doing what he feels is best for the family.
>>
>>79021163
That was pretty much it. You'd see him frequently, but he usually didn't have much to say; mostly Doug (poorly) explaining his predicament and his dad either not understanding or giving vague advice that wasn't really helpful. These are all the key moments I can remember:

-He moved his family to a new town just so he'd be closer to his job as a mall kiosk photographer.

-He's damn good at kite building. He annoyed Doug with his rhyming lectures on how to build an effective one, but he was right in the end that a simple aerodynamic design is infinitely better than a flashy complicated kite that could barely get off the ground.

-He tried his best to be the angst ridden sailor poet character Judy designed him to be when she was embarrassed to show her boyfriend how boring her family was.

-He made an itinerary for a family trip he planned, but kept giving in when his kids were distracted by some roadside attraction. Every time he'd remind them about what event he planned they can no longer see. I think they almost died by semitruck and had some shmaltzy ending about being closer together now.

-He let his children name his new child.

Overall, mid-tier Nick dad. Not a bad dad, really, but not a lot of praises to sing. I guess in a way that makes him relatable as a father, but not the dad we all wish we had.
