I would have sent a good message too, about how easy it is to slip into being "the villain" in someone else's story while thinking you're the hero in yours because you acted hastily and with insufficient information and didn't stop to question and analyse your own actions or whatever.

Anna was at death's door due to the curse. White-haired, too weak to move, so inhumanly cold Hans felt it through the winter outdoors clothes the moment he touched her etc. She told Hans that Elsa struck her with her powers and froze her heart (pretty obvious) and the only thing that could save her is "an act of true love". Everyone so far, Anna, Kristoff, the trolls and also Hans assume that to mean a true love's kiss.

However, Hans knows that he doesn't love Anna, he doesn't even like her. He doesn't know about Kristoff etc. Thus there's no-one who could possibly have romantic "true love" for Anna. Or even familial love, since her family is dead and Elsa doesn't love her, since she cursed her to death. When Hans says "if only there was someone who loved you", he thinks it's the truth.

So no true love = no way to save her = she's already as good as dead. If he'd have "just married her" she'd have died within 20 minutes, probably. As for banging her - again, she was literally ice cold. It'd have been like fucking a slushie.

He probably would have married her if he'd have thought there was any chance of keeping her alive, since it would have been safer and secured his position. He was willing to go after Anna again (even though the last rescue mission nearly cost him his life) even though all of the dignitaries are telling him to leave Anna in the wild to fend for herself because "he's all Arendelle has left". He also looked genuinely sad and shocked for a heartbeat when he realised she's doomed to die.

Yeah precisely. The twist is hamfisted as fuck but I guess from a Disney movie narrative point of view it makes sense, since they want to make absolutely sure the audience isn't confused about who they are supposed to root for. Hans is an ambiguous, grey character, and Disney characters aren't usually ambiguous but very, very clearly good or bad. So he had to be placed firmly in the baddie side through giving him a Bond villain monologue with pointlessly cruel gloating.

Because otherwise it might have made Anna, the main heroine princess, look a bit bad, ditching her handsome prince fiance who saved the citizens or Arendelle and just wanted to save the country for this new hot guy she happened to come across. Even if they would have "parted amicably" or whatever. People are supposed to be happy, indisputably happy at the outcome. Hence, he has to be a massive douche.
