Snyder is appearing on Conan around 9pm Est. What are you expecting?
Post anything related to the dceu in the meantime, especially merchandise.
Yeah actually, I get about $200 dollars to start a thread on a shit anime website
christ, I so incredibly don't care about this movie. There's been teasers and sneak peeks for months and months and I just could not give a rat's fucking ass about anything more about this movie.
Enough. Just tell me who GL is or at least tell me that he's in the Justice League roster, fucking dammit, Snyder
It's all three
Tyrese is confirmed as Stewart though
Wonder woman seems to have the most merchandise. I'm glad they are realizing how powerful and influential she is.
He did, that chart is old.
Of course, Colbert fans are claiming his viewership drop is because Republicans can't handle the bantz rather than because his show is boring.
All I can say is that some people are saying WW is selling a lot because you can't find it on the shelves, but they are not even producing that much to begin with. I saw a guy who work on a shop like that saying they received only one figure of her.
>Start work at local Smyths
>Packing shelves in Boy Toys isle
>Half of the isle is Marvel stuff
>One single shelf amongst Thor hammers filled with BvS Batman masks
>kids don't want captain america or winter soldier toys
Bull-fucking-shit. I have to re-stock that entire fucking isle twice a week. Shit sells like hotcakes.
To put it into perspective, the Star Wars merch is right opposite all the cape-shit on the same isle, and whenever some nostalgia-driven parent walks their kid in trying to show them all the neat Star Wars toys, the kids always run right past it to see the Marvel merch. A lot of the DC merch has to be shoved into boxes and crammed onto a canopy because it's not going anywhere, the Marvel shit has no such issue.
>Why is that?
They don't sell, apparently, but regardless of whether or not that's true I don't think Wonder Woman would have the same problem.
I doubt she'd sell as much as Batman or Spider-Man, but she should sell enough to justify merchandising.
I wonder if blogs like The Mary Sue are going to comment at all on the fact that DC/WB is already ready with Wondy merchandise while Disney/Marvel literally erases their female characters from toy boxes.
I feel worried, yet excitedingly hyped. I just don't know what will happen, all i wan't for this film is to turn out surprisingly great for the whole audience to enjoy; and so /co/ can eat they're words. I want to have hope and faith for the DCCU, to have a stable functional universe.
even more footage?
pretty soon it doesn't even pay to go to the cinema to watch this, because the intire movie gets spoiled with the trailers and clips
I saw someone suggest yesterday that the "super-secret character" Eisenburg was originally going to play was Ted Kord and man that would really line-up with New52 Ted and I guess explain why he fucked off after his quick introduction as well as originally going to be Luthors apprentice.
I wonder if they'd still consider going that direction now that Jesse is Lex and that this Ted is nowhere to be seen in the comics.
Also strangely enough he's the only character Snyder has specifically mentioned that hasn't had casting rumors yet so maybe he's already been cast for BvS?
>Enough. Just tell me who GL is..
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (completed)
I think it's gonna be this guy.
If it is so then why hasn't that been announced yet? Ray Fisher and Ezra Miller are confirmed to be Cyborg and Flash but no GL casting. It's not like he's Spider-Man or Batman, what's the point of secrecy?
we all hope for it. only thing is, I'll need to cut myself off from the internet a week early before release, because of the early screenings. kinda wondering how i'll survive, coming to /co/ is routine
some fucker on here did spoil han's death for me tho
I remember having several liveblogs open during the panel, hoping for DC-related news.
We've been waiting for so long that it feels a bit surreal, being only two months away.
And just 6 months later we another DC movie. These are great times we live in.
Most little girls want magical Princess type of heroines with pretty flowing hair, tiaras and regal looks, Gamora and Widow are assassin martial arts fighting types who wear leather which only appeal to teen and above women and the normies don't buy action figures.
Which BTW is also why you see a lot of little girls dressed as Thor, he is pretty, has long flowing locks, has that regal Prince look, is magical, and also heroic, and the closest female character the MCU has to that archetype is Sif.
They will try to push Carol but if they go with the butch short hair look or mohawk look and if they don't make her outfit colorful then they won't like her.
Still Carol can't hold a candle to Wonder Woman.
He does say that "the reddit thread was all wrong."
Although there were multiple ones so one of them might have been right.
Probably no JL yet though. If there was, we'd know who Green Lantern is by now.
Some people will say that it makes up for showing Doomsday in the trailer, but I think that's even worse. If it is a MAJOR part to be considered even a 4th act, it will make the movie even more convoluted, and probably just for fanservice.
They did, as part of the Halloween costume:
>yfw it's a small epilogue showing the League's first meeting
>Imagine if Thor actually looked like a viking, instead of the alien/disco version.
No mechanical owl, no sale.
It's the fascist symbol.
Is this a comparison between the first and second suits?
I don't know why but I didn't think they updated it for BvS.
Why do they have to remake entire costumes every movie? I understood Iron Man, since he's always tweaking his outfit, but sometimes the outfits go through overhauls for no given reason at all.
As far as I know he has only been in Aquaman and he had gone insane from being imprisoned
>Why do they have to remake entire costumes every movie? I understood Iron Man, since he's always tweaking his outfit, but sometimes the outfits go through overhauls for no given reason at all.
I don't know if you considered this, but I get the feeling that Cavill from 2015 might need a better fitting for a costume than the one he wore 2 years ago.
Also make it more eyecatching instead of the dull crap it was made of initially.
Small tweaks can have a huge impact. This suit is leagues better than the MoS suit. Personally I would have preferred they kept the bigger sheld but it's fine. The up in color and overall quality is visible and appreciated.
Of course I considered changes in bodily shape.
I'm talking about aesthetic design changes for the sake of it. Captain America's a pretty prime example of this. Even his original WWII outfit was changed in Winter Soldier, despite that making little to no sense.
True, it's an improvement, but this would imply that he went back to the ship and had a different suit made.
It's an oft-overlooked hole, especially with Captain America. Even his original (or at least a historical replica) WWII combat suit underwent a design change, seemingly for the sake of it.
I feel like the new look suits him very much. He's meant to look like an alien and the new suit makes him look that way. The more mythological look of the MoS suit is still present, but the deeper colors and the odd-but-sleek design patterns running through the suit seem really give off that extraterrestrial feel. Especially in contrast to WW's worn out battle armor and Batman's rugged suit.
why do shitposting contrarians even visit threads like these?
what kind of lowlives visit the same threads again and again even though they don't like the movies that are subjects to conversation?
>someone has an opinion that's not mine!
>he must be a shitposting contrarian!
I came to see the new footage.
I didn't like what I saw and posted my view on the matter.
Is this somehow wrong?
Alright, this is a pretty DCEU positive thread and I don't mean to sound like I hate MoS, I don't.
But are we all in agreement that Stop Invincible Son should have been Pa Kent having a heart attack instead?
I can agree with that.
I get what they were going for but I think it was poorly executed. And I prefer Pa dying because of a heart attack because it shows that no matter how powerful Clark is, he can save everyone.
>But are we all in agreement that Stop Invincible Son should have been Pa Kent having a heart attack instead?
Like how it was done in in All-Star Superman? Sure. Also, maybe take out that creepy heat vision scene with Lois Lane or at least have him show some genuine concern for her health instead of a sudden cut to Lois screaming like a banshee in the dark
I loved man of steel (sue me) and although I would've loved a heart attack scene it seems way too overused.
also, it wouldn't really make sense as was the case with the reeves superman movie. I feel like a character should be fleshed out in order to a heart attack having any meaning
the tornado scene could've been great if it had been handled better
>clark runs with martha
>thinks pa kent is behind him
>camera cuts to john saving the dog
>clark gets to bridge
>looks back and sees pa kent
>tornado almost there
>clark almost about to run
>stop invincible son
the pacing was far too slow for that scene in particular
I think that not using Cavill would have helped as well; if I remember correctly, Clark was supposed to be 17 in that scene and Cavill obviously looks a lot older.
A scared, ashamed (he had just said Pa wasn't his father) 17-year-old kid makes the scene a lot more understandable.
what's all with you heart attack fans?
the tornado scene was poorly made but heart attack? again?
>thousands of comics
jesus christ, why not try something new?
Pa should've brought a sniper rifle with him so he could take out Bruce Wayne's parents as he get swept into the tornado and his last words should've been "my son would've been faster than that speeding bullet rich boi"
I loved MoS, too, but I can't say I agreed with the Pa Kent character itself.
I personally would've preferred if he actually did support Clark's desire to help, but only wanted Clark to be very careful not to get caught doing it.
His view instead was too extreme and ended up costing him his life in a very silly way.
Would've been better off if he lived to the end of the movie. No need for him to die right away. His death would've been a nice turn of events if it were saved for a later movie.
Might be due for a rewatch then.
Did Snyder or anyone comment on the dildo ships BTW? Did they just play it off as "well people will see what they want to see"?
>jesus christ, why not try something new?
What better way for an all american farmer to meet his end. Other than getting sucked into a wheat thresher that is.
>Did Snyder or anyone comment on the dildo ships BTW? Did they just play it off as "well people will see what they want to see"?
If you look at all of Krypton it was pretty Geiger-esque in its design and use of sexuality, I assume because of the whole natural birth thing
>Did Snyder or anyone comment on the dildo ships BTW?
How would you comment on that without giving people more fodder to make fun of you? Best to not even bring it up and move on.
Yes. It works better. No matter how many half-baked excuses they make up for why Clark couldn't expose his powers, the audience still has that small voice in the back of their head saying 'he could have saved him. Why didn't he save him?' That wouldn't have been a problem if the cause of death had been a heart attack.
It's also much better lesson for Clark, having to deal with a loved one dying a 'common' death, and coming to terms with the fact that all humans can and will die, and no matter how strong and powerful you are, you won't always be able to safe them. Because people die. Not only from hurricanes and giant disasters.
I feel like the new DCMU should've taken half of the character relationship ideas from smallville
>lex and clark knowing each others since teenager years
>john being based daddy
>martha being based mommy
hell, bring in pete ross or whitney to become conduit and go all the way
>mfw Hans Zimmer said he'd be scoring all the Superman material in BvS again
No, because that would not have gotten across the point they where trying to make which is that Clark has to choose not to save someone or hesitate not to save someone for the greater good, which nails in this incarnations confliction about when doing the right thing will cause more harm then good.
I completely agree the scene was the most flawed execution wise scene in the entire film but still.
I don't get why the MoS soundtrack was so critically BTFO.
Sure, Superman's theme was basically just a major scale, but simplicity and efficacy aren't mutually exclusive, and far worse soundtracks have gotten better reception.
you're right. totally forgot about him
>I don't get why the MoS soundtrack was so critically BTFO
wait, what? since when? the MoS soundtrack was one of the best ones I heard in years
It was unusually polarizing.
Right after release it was getting one bad review after another. Latecomers were much warmer to it.
I agree. It was just simple, and that got a lot of unnecessary hate.
>based Wilkinson isn't designing any of the SS costumes
It shows. I know they're villains from very distinct backgrounds but I can't imagine any of them in the same scene as the Supes or Wondy.
Its kind of annoying because I love Katana's modern ronan look but I wonder what Wilkinson would have done differently.
>What are you expecting?
Two more threads and a thousand more shitposts.
And that one "you just don't like it because of tone man of steel was a serious scifi for serious aduults like me not that campy barney babyfag shit " anon to show up.
He got a collectors edition
Rewatching that scene the now and yeah this really throws it.
He sounds young but he looks way too old
The SS designs are awesome, and of course they don't look like the BvS costumes. Those are an alien, a demigoddess, and a billionaire. The SS cast are most psychopaths, criminals, and freaks.
>It shows. I know they're villains from very distinct backgrounds but I can't imagine any of them in the same scene as the Supes or Wondy.
Eh, Justice League is meant to be the big time though. Plus none of the characters in Suicide Squad really wear what could be termed as a "superhero costume."
Anyone feel like they dropped the ball running a suicide squad that doesn't really pose immediate villains for the Leaguers. SS could have been a great spot to establish villains that can show up later on in heroes stand alone movies.
I would have liked to see guys like Black Manta and Cheetah involved.
See, the thing about a heart attack is that it's something Clark can't do anything about no matter how hard he tries. He can't stop death.
Your proposal it still doesn't address the root of the issue people have with it; Clark's "failure" and Jonathan's death is due to a lack of trying, not because he can't do anything, but because he doesn'tT.
Manta has been in Suicide Squad as of recent though, and Cheetah probably has in the past. hell that's the whole point of the Squad to rope villains into doing government dirty work.
I forgot how blatant some of the product placement in this is
Plenty of guys from the heroes rogues gallery have been in the suicide squad.
Yeah. You could have Cheetah with the story that WW put her away, at the end she earns her freedom. Bang, you have a good set up for the next movie.
Am I the only one who doesn't have anything against product placement in movies?
I'm not talking about Mac & Me tier cases of pure shilling, but things like that pic.
You don't even have to be American to run into various brand names in real life. It would be silly to assume those same brands wouldn't exist in that movie's world by default.
There are a lot of /tv/ crossposters who just despise capeshit, too.
Also, you'd do better than to unironically assume that people are incapable of liking DC movies because of their personal tastes.
I like MoS and usually it doesn't bother me too much, but that one right there is really blatant.
The shot starts with a 2 second focus on the bottle before it pans up to Clark. Its one of those things thats really easy to notice when yo're watching casually at a computer but just goes by fine when you're watching in theatres. Its not TF4 levels of bad is what I'm saying
I'm that anon, and it has nothing to do with it being for serious adults, it's about it treating the character and his pathos as a real concept instead of snickering the entire film in the background at its silly ess.
Should War of the Worlds or 2001 A Space Odessey be a fucking comedy?
Yes I know Superman is neether of those things but that is the kind of respect I want to see his mythos be given.
Why the god damn fuck is that offensive to you?
Suicide Squad trailer description. Only 6 days left.
Because you equate seriousness with solemnity and that's the outlook of prudes and children that want to be seen as grown up.
You can do serious drama and light tone, and the idea that they're somehow mutually exclusive doesn't work in a world where even Sesame Street can handle concepts like death without being so over the top and maudlin. They can have Big Bird at a Jim Henson memorial and it's still respectful. We exist in the world where John Cleese can tell jokes at a funeral and it still works and isn't disrespectful.
Respect isn't dourness. Solemnity isn't seriousness. Pretension isn't genuine.
You seem to be under the impression that people wanted jokes and quips, because that's an easy strawman for you to attack. Which is why it's the first and ONLY complaint you ever even address and everything else you ignore or dismiss entirely.
I'm not offended. I just think you're the biggest joke of all.
>yfw you see pic related watching you from the shadows
Man, its weird to imagine Bruce is here during all of this.
Also watching this scene really shows how much they lightened up on the filters for BvS. In this scene I could barely tell it was day, I thought it was maybe dusk but in BvS its super obvious
We're getting that on the 19th
Can't be another trailer surely? Must be the first clip. I'm sure Zack will spend half the time talking about the Superbowl contest.
Amber Heard rumored to be in talks for Mera.
I don't give a single crap about being seen as grown up, I'm 24 I know I am, this has nothing to do with how you or anyone sees me whatsoever.
It's about how real and believable the film portrays it's mythos.
How in Christ name can you not understand the concept of target audiences???
Reeves films were made for people that like bright campy fun Superman, I like 1-2 and even Returns alright, Mos was made for people that like Earth One or Supreme Power (to be clear I don't like EO beyond its tone and world building)
NEETHER path is invalid for the character.
WHY is films being made for a different audience a flaw with the product to you? Was Batman 89 badly made because it didn't cater to Adam West fans?
Was Nolan's films badly made because it didn't cater to B&R fans?
> Which is why it's the first and ONLY complaint you ever even address and everything else you ignore or dismiss entirely.
No that's the only thing you have seen me adress because I only use recurring accurate praises when I'm discussing that specific aspect of the film.
>implying that isn't a Conan's stupid sketch.
She's playing Carrie Farris, not to be confused with Carol Ferris (Star Sapphire).
I remember something Jimmy Kimmel said on Win Ben Stein's Money: "This is cable; the whole world is NOT watching."
Doesn't excuse that he's doing worse than some faggot on fucking Bravo, but it is a reason for low numbers.
What's really fucked up is that more people are willing to watch that fat fuck Corden over based Ferguson.
I miss him, guys
>Okay I'll crawl into bed with you
Not my style.
Also are we talking irl? If i was in the DCU i wouldn't be afraid, but in a real back alley i would be a little bit freaked.
>I-isn't Halloween over, man?
We got a hundred to go. We can make a new one if you use this one by actually diccussing what we think the clio will be.
I personal want Diana to finally fucking ralk. I get kinda what they are going for. The silent guardian finnially helping. But at least give us a hint in the direction if what her role is really about.
And my WonderBat flirting. That would be nice.
Diana and Bruce cucking Supes would be some great interaction to watch. I'm a bats fanboy so I'm always willing to see more footage of him. Especially considering I think Ben Al-Flecki was a better choice than Bale.
Anyway, I'd predict some WW speak, angry looking supes, and more Alfred/Bruce banter.
Fucking this, Craigy Ferg did not give a single fuck, in the best possible way. Opening monologues were either written five minutes beforehand or improvised, pre-interview didn't matter, just had normal conversations.
Kek this has gotta be bait. /co/mblr has become so fucking funny.
Supes lives with Lois so hes in a relationship in the DCEU and comic wise SMWW arent a couple.
Yea, itll probably be a reverse Steve Rogers and instead of being spared seeing neveryone you care growing old and the world changing, Diana has to watch the world change before her very eyes.
If Batman knows? I have no idea. Its hinted they know ine another though. And i wonder uf Diana is tired of Bruce's shit like Alfred seems to be.
yfw Yahoo news spoils this shit before you even get on youtube
I think an ideal tone for a Superman movie is the one we saw in Captain America. But you know what? It's fucking irrelevant.
Because while you're wanking off over the "serious" tone you're ignoring the bigger facts that the movie is just really shoddily written. The dialogue is hackneyed, the characters are flat, the protagonist is passave (not a crime in of itself but given the narrative this is a problem since it hinges on him being a more active participant), action beats are a reasult of railroading and are inorganic to the characters as presented, the symbolism is forced, the pacing is horrific, and and whenever someone says as much, you go "NO IT WAS EPIC AND MYTHIC YOU'RE WRONG YOU JUST WANT A CAMPY MOVIE WHAT GOOD IS HOPE IN A HOPEFUL WORLD" like a broken record.
You whinge on and on about memes but damn if you haven't helped create a new Baneposting single-handed.
God, it was so fucking great.
I especially loved when he got deadly serious when he interviewed Desmond Tutu. Their conversation was profound and powerful. He deserved the Peabody he got.
I also liked how Craig would choose not to comment on bullshit entertainment scandals when actually bad shit happened at the same time.
He's a good guy, and he deserved better. Fuck Letterman.
Excellent. Always could count on Supes and Bats to brighten my day.
>every time there was a disaster he'd tape a serious monologue about it
>bared his soul every time, even came close to tears
>would never say it was a great day for America, and sometimes even straight up say he wouldn't because in that case, it was a bad fucking day
Got me every fucking time.
Now he's a game show host.
> you're ignoring the bigger facts that the movie is just really shoddily written
When? I can't think of a serious plot hole and I'm genuinely trying.
> The dialogue is hackneyed
Only dialogue that sounded bad to me was the "tinkle, measuring dicks, troll the intern pool and kinda hot" lines.
There is a reasonable amount of exposition I will give you however the scene which Jor reiterates the history of Krypton which is the primary moment of it is so humble and filled with a sense of Wonder and discovery It makes up for it in my eyes.
> the characters are flat
Disagree, Found this to be the most subtle yet fulfilling portrayal of Lois out there besides TAS.
Most sympathetic incarnations of Zod ever.
> action beats are a reasult of railroading and are inorganic to the characters as presented
No idea what this means.
You have a problem with villains forcing the hero to fight back?
> the symbolism is forced
In only 2 scenes.
The church scene which is a nice humble scene of him getting a human perspective and suggestion.
And the cross pose in space which made for a beautiful shot.
> the pacing is horrific
Sorry can't agree at all, loved the slow mysterious pace of the first half contrasting with the furious 2nd.
Reminds me of the build up and pacing of the original and 2010 Predator films.
You say I claim it was flawless, I absolutely do not.
> Tornado scene was badly executed, should have had Clark helping others to safety and that's why he couldn't get the dog or have had PA clearly state Clark should stay with and protect Martha instead of the dog.
> Jor beat Zod too easily.
> Kiss was unnecessary and I'll timed and the quip mid kiss was even worse.
> Time skip was jarring, film needed a Montage of him helping people out of the rubble, some attcepting his help others being horrified by him, to fade into to drone/getting a job scenes would make the destruction more consequential.
> The lines of Dialogue mentioned above.
> A Few other things.
>There is a reasonable amount of exposition
It's really not reasonable. A good point of comparison is for example the fact that in Man of Steel Lois literally looks at the camera and says she's a Pulitzer Prize winner. The Superman movie before this? It just SHOWS the award. Or hell. "They're calling him Superman" is exposition. Organically would be to just call him Superman and cut out the middleman.
Lois was about as subtle as a brick. And shoehorned awkwardly into the movie. For all you tend to complain about how the Donner movie turns Lois into a generic Damsel in Distress she's absolutely that int his movie; she does dumb shit, and is unnecessary half the time so that Clark will have someone to save and fight for. There's no reason for her to go onto that ship without so much as a coat or any protection (she could've brought a coat and a gun. THAT would've at least been reasonable). There's no reason for Zod to invite her aboard, etc.
By the way if you're trying to argue that a character isn't flat, calling them subtle isn't a good way to phrase the refutation.
Action beats and inorganic action is for example, if Jonathan is so paranoid that Clark will get discovered for being an alien, why isn't Clark homeschooled? LOGICALLY he would've gotten pulled out after his heat vision and super senses triggered, but he was obviously kept in school past then since he was older when he saved the kids on the bus, which is what, strike two?
And as far as forced symbolism I was actually thinking about the poor man's giger sexuality injected into Kryptonian design aesthetic. It's one of those things that's clever for about thirty seconds.
And there's nothing mysterious about the pacing. It's all a forgone, boring conclusion so empty in character depth that I fell asleep during it the first time and it was only the blaring of the World Engine that woke me up.
Predator worked because we didn't know what the threat was. We do here.
>And as far as forced symbolism I was actually thinking about the poor man's giger sexuality injected into Kryptonian design aesthetic. It's one of those things that's clever for about thirty seconds.
The only legitimate critique, the rest is film student shit
> Lois was about as subtle as a brick.
Not their bonding and connection they develop out of mutual trust.
> For all you tend to complain about how the Donner movie turns Lois into a generic Damsel in Distress she's absolutely that int his movie
I don't have any problem with Lois needing to be saved at times, I have a problem with her being undescribably Whiny, screeching and pathetic like Kidder was along with her obsessive infatuation to the point of drooling over Superman she had there along with doing insane shit like burning Clark to see if he is Superman.
> There's no reason for Zod to invite her aboard
Fitting given that the color theory used in this movie is day one film student stuff. Actually not even real film student stuff. I know for a fact that the color theory Snyder uses is film summer camp stuff they teach to 13 year olds.
>Not their bonding and connection they develop out of mutual trust.
...Uh yeah that's pretty fucking heavy handed man. Lois trusts Clark because he saved her, Clark trusts Lois because she's so thirsty for his alien dick that she forgot she's a Pulitzer Prize Winning Reporter and isn't going to do her job. That mutual trust isn't subtle in the least.
Then stop using the word mysterious for fucks sake. If you know all the secrets in a mystery, it's a failure as a mystery.
