“I stocked up on source material and buried my head in it for a while,” Cavill said. “I didn’t get a chance to indulge in comics as a kid, which I’m actually quite happy about because as an adult I get to read the best of it. . . And I do enjoy them; as an adult I have retained my sense of wonder and love of stories and fantasy world. I really liked ‘Death of Superman’ and ‘Return of Superman,’ those are my favorite ones, and ‘The New 52‘ is great stuff and ‘Earth One,’ although I know people think that is a mixed bag.”
He spoke in detail about “Red Son,” an alternative-reality story where Superman grows up in the Soviet Union. “With ‘Red Son,’ I thought it was interesting as a different perspective,” Cavill said. “It was out there and I like that. It was essential to my character research, too. When you’ve got two polar opposite viewpoints of the same character, you will see what the authors consider the important baseline trend. I got to see that and see the different ways he would have developed and that was very useful to me.”
He has also gone on the record for loving Superman:Kryptonite
What does /co/ think? I think they are ok choices
>The balding meme
What is it with Cavill that make so many guys turning as competitive/threatened as women?
>Tsk, he's not even THAT handsome. He, like, might has well been cast as Luthor with his bald head.
“And because we are retelling the story and we are doing our own reinvention and a modernization for the screen, I get the opportunity to add my own interpretation of how he developed,” he went on. “So that was cool to look at ‘Red Son’ and see what changed, what didn’t change and what that reveals about the baseline of Superman. You can find what is essential to Superman and what is nature vs. nurture by locating that baseline.”
forgot to finish the quote
Who cares if he has poor taste in comics? Him having any taste in comics at all is a miracle. He missed the initial call that said he got the part of Superman because he was busy playing vidya. He's practically one of us, fer chrissakes, even if the scripting and direction are terrible.
>6.0 action comics 1 actually exists
Death of Superman wasn't a bad story though. I know you get your opinions from Max Landis and all but it wasn't anywhere near as bad as some of the garbage stories I've seen in superhero comics.
If he's talking about Morrison's Action Comics run he's got superb taste.
>I didn’t get a chance to indulge in comics as a kid, which I’m actually quite happy about because as an adult I get to read the best of it. . . And I do enjoy them; as an adult I have retained my sense of wonder and love of stories and fantasy world.
he's so precious
I want to read comics with Cavill ;_;
People enjoy making fun of other people
especially gorgeous peoplewhen they can't be seen as the unwashed landwhales they are behind the Anonymous handle.
Seems like he actually read the comics instead of just Googling All Star's Wikipedia summary and reciting praise about it. Come to think of it, I can't even remember the last time I heard of an actor talking about the comics he read for the role at all. Did Ben say anything about prepping for Batman?
Really? I prefer him with chest-hair.
>no more shitty filter that makes the costume look dull as fuck
Glad Snyder fixed this problem from MoS.
Jeffrey Fucking Dean Morgan is a very recent example of studs that suck the source materials cock.
I'm still salty at the fact that i'll never bro it up with Cavill and some FO4
>although I know people think that is a mixed bag
This is something I like that actually shows an actor claiming to like the material has actually read it. Knowing stories you enjoy have a mixed reaction from other people shows you're a little more invested in the material than just "oh I read 10 comics about this character and I liked these two."
Urban is obsessed with Dredd
Never heard about Ben talking Batman but he is the sole reason why Daredevil movie happened. Apperantly, DD was his favorite superhero.
Heard that he read a lot of Miller comics back then.
>Metacritic's rating is low, while all others are high. Which means it's the trustworthy review.
>If you like a popular game, you are a casual.
I'll admit, I'm starting to get a little "Stop not liking what i like", but hating something that people outside your room enjoy, for the sake of being contrary is dumb.
Now i've payed too much attention to this, which means i'm going to be called autistic. Go ahead.
It's a well made game, but it's basically just Fallout 3 with more stuff to do. I imagine its sequel will be better than it, the same way New Vegas was better than 3. There's a reason Witcher 3 is winning every game award from last year.
new vegas was an overrated expansion pack
sure it improves on alot of things that 3 did but the setting of a rebuilt wasteland is so boring it's hard to play it without the DLC or mods
>b-but muh gray morality
the 3 main factions in the story are black & white too they're just not to the degree that FO3 was
>3rd Man of Steel film
>Superman is bald sociopath, Lex Luthor has glorious shoulder length mane of hair and and charisma
I'm joking, there will never be a third MoS film.
Every time Cavill talks about Superman, he always comes off as having a pretty solid handle on what he thinks the character is/should be. Cool guy.
It's too bad the direction, script and his own fairly wooden acting were such a let down though. Better luck next time.
