Was Green Goblin always his main enemy or was it due to the movie? I remember Kingpin being his main enemy in 90s cartoon
>>
>>78829824
>his Lex
Green Goblin

>his Joker
Carnage

>his Bane
Kraven

>his Doomsday
Morlun

>his Reverse Flash
Venom

>his scarecrow
Hobgoblin

>his Black Mask
Kingpin

Where does Mysterio fit into this? He was in so many of the 1960s episodes.
>>
>>78829965
Literally all but two of these are wrong.
>>
>>78829824
Most famous? As in, casuals will see him and instantly know who he is? Venom. Inb4 he's not a villain.
>>
>no one post the Jackel

Fucking morons. He was always one of Spideys biggest foes.
>>
>>78830016
I'd say Riddler

Norman

Kingpin

Tombstone or Mr Negative

Green Goblin was always the big deal villain. That 90s cartoon has to be one of the only pieces of media that downplays how important Norman is, especially when it suggested he was inspired by Hobgoblin.

>Who is his Joker or Lex Luther
Many debate that Spidey himself is his own worst enemy and/or he doesn't have an arch-nemesis to begin with. JMS's and JRJR's run went with the theme that Peter's spider powers are his curse, so many writers have their own takes on who's his greatest foe. Some of them say Norman, others (like Slott) push Ock, etc.

>There are people on this board who think Spiderman's ultimate nemesis hasn't always been Kingpin

Did you read the comics? Kingpin killed Aunt May

so Peter broke all his ribs in prison.
>>
>>78830394
>Kingpin killed Aunt May
after a long stint of being Daredevil's nemesis instead. Nothing beats Norman chucking Gwen Stacey off a bridge.
>>
>>78830394
Spidey did a lot more than break a few of his ribs for that, he torpedoed the man's reputation.

It's Norman

The guy exists almost entirely to ruin Peter's life
>>
>>78830473
Or Norman knocking Gwen up.
>>
>>78830159
>His Doomsday/Peter Parker
Yes. This.

I like that you didn't mention Doc Cock, Vulture, Scorpion or Rhino, even though they could have easily filled some of those roles.
>>
Kingpin seems better suited for Daredevil anyway, he's just a fat guy that is slightly stronger than your average fat guy
>>
>>78830394
That was erased of the continuity less than 10 issues after it happened, anon.
>hasn't always been Kingpin
So he's also been spideys arch enemy in all the years of famous spidey comics prior to kingpins introduction?
>>
>>78830560
How strong do you think your average fat guy is?
>>
Guys, I want to get into Spider-Man, which are his 5 best story archs?
>>

Dan Slott

>>

Going through the old comics, Otto was the closest thing to a Nemesis Spidey had to contend with, but once Gobby showed up, it was definitely Green Goblin at the front of the pack.

Venom was briefly the biggest, nastiest villain, but got downgraded after a few years.

I think part of the confusion comes from the 90's, where Marvel tried to downplay or replace Osborn, but once the Raimi movie hit, he was back on top.
>>
>>78830583
>>78830679

He's not even a mutant is he? Isn't Spider-Man holding back while fighting most his villains? I doubt he's that strong
>>
>>78830559
Peter fits the bill so much better than anyone else though
>Spidey can't kill him
>anytime Spidey fucks him up he evolves and becomes better
>is constantly ruining Spidey's life
>is directly linked to Spidey
Ock I'd say is more like Spidey's Riddler as in Spidey has to use his brain more often than naught to beat Ock.
>>
>>78830927
Spidey holds back against just about everyone. When he actually goes full-bore, it's usually pretty scary.

Kingpin is Ironman/Full Strength Competition strong. He could probably pull a 747 with a tow-rope wrapped around his gut. He also has extensive CQ combat training. Spider-Man just makes him look like a pushover because superpowers.

>Always
>Posts example from a comic that came out less than 10 years ago
>>
>>78830583
Ever see Strong Man competitions? They are all fat.
>>
His most FAMOUS villain is Venom, like it nor not.

His worst enemy is Norman, hands down.
>>
It's a toss up between Green Goblin, Doc Ock and Venom.
>>
Green Goblin is his arch-nemesis on paper, having been directly or indirectly the cause of a lot of his most important moments.

Ock comes in at a close second for the same reason.

Venom is his most well known villain because Venom is his antithesis, but that doesn't really apply anymore since Venom hasn't actually been a villain for a few years now.
>>
>>78829824

He has 3, and in order of nemesisness they are as followed

Green Goblin
Doc Oc
SHOCKER!

Fun Fact: When John Semper joined the Spider-Man cartoon, he noticed they were going to use Hobgoblin from the start. He was seemingly the only one who knew anything about Spider-Man's history, and told them they needed to use Green Goblin first. Unfortunately, Toy Biz already had the Hobgoblin toy planned, and his suggestion of making Norman the Hobgoblin was also denied.

Eventually he got to do the Green Goblin later in the series. If you enjoyed anything about the show, he probably had a hand in it, as he wrote all but 5 episodes.
>>
>>78830690
This is probably the best and most complete answer.

Otto was first when they were still developing Spidey, then Goblin, who held that title until Venom's popularity exploded in the 90's. Since then, it's back to Goblin
>>
>>78830690
>I think part of the confusion comes from the 90's, where Marvel tried to downplay or replace Osborn

That was because he was dead for a long, long time. He died shortly after Gwen Stacy and stayed that way until the end of the clone saga.
>>
>>78829824
His most famous villain is probably Venom, even though he hasn't been a villain for a while. But his Joker is almost certainly Norman Osborn (and, to a lesser extent, Harry Osborn during his tenure as the Green Goblin). And his Lex? That's obviously J. Jonah Jameson.

One job, Norman.
>>
>>78829824
Spider-Man's greatest enemy has always changed with the time. Before, it was Ock, then it was Goblin, then it was Venom for a while in the 90s until they neutered him and made him shit.

Spider-Man's greatest enemy will always be himself and his shitty luck.
