The reason the couch gags are good is a.) other people are working on them, and b.) the writers realize the show is total shit these days and the only positive press they can get is from people on the internet liking and upvoting certain parts of the show. Hence why they will put effort into one or two segments that can easily be monetized into a YouTube or Hulu video that gets shared on Facebook and Reddit while the rest of the episode is forgettable filler garbage
