Why did these movies have such shitty villain designs?
>>
Harry, was great except the make up.
The armor was phenomenal for what it was meant to be.
His make up was actually OK I'm that specific image but in the movie less so.

Lizard was great except the face.
>>
>>78800372
The only ok design was Electro, who was basicallt just ultimate

Designs sucked, action was great, story was bad
>>
Because despite the second one having an incredible and accurate comic book spider-Man design they dont recognize the blatant inconsistency of then being embarrassed over the villain designs and thinking they are too silly even though they are just as ridiculous and stupid looking as Spider-Man himself.

By my standards anyway everyone unanimously agreeing that the Spider-Man costume looks fantastic despite it only being tights is evidence that people want more costumes like that instead of making everything stupidly over complicated or not even resembling what its supposed to in the slightest.
>>
To be fair they went with the classic Lizard face, but we've all come to love/expect the snout. What really kills this design though is the lack of a lab coat.

Post accident Electro looked completely fine, its just they did nothing with him and the performance killed it.

Harry.......ugh. The armor was fine, wish the glider was a different color. But I hate the mutated face and messy hair. And whats so wrong about giving him a hood or something?

Rhino was complete shit. Looked impractical and defeated the point of the character. YOU DONT GIVE RHINO GUNS AND MISSILES
>>
>>78800673
People keep posing it like they were somehow paying tribute to Lizard's original design and you're giving them too much credit because the similarities stop there and i bet you never even read original Lizard comics because he was shit at first and nothing else in the movie respects Stan Lee's Spider-Man run.

Its much more likely they didn't have enough faith in the performance and audience that they felt the only way anyone could connect would be with a human face and that kind of thinking is patronizing.
>>
>>78800272
>raimifilms make a motorcycle green goblin suit
>people complain and want a more a suit that looks more like the one from the comics
>guys, we got this
>make a meth mouth armored green goblin
>>
>>78800865
Calm down, I actually wanted the long nose lizard design. I was only pointing it out.
>>
>>78800937
To be fair, Harry's armor in ASM2 is immeasurably better then the outfit in SM1 even if neether are faithful to comics, and even if we dislike his make up and hair, at least he is more expressive then the stiff ass mother fucking mask we got with Defoe.
>>
Daily Reminder we could have gotten this...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEZBhL5lpqg
All they had to do was tone down the ears alot, make the green skin a bit darker and the eyes just a tad smaller, and finally have the purple cloth come down towards his forehead a bit and this would have been perfect.
>>
>>78800865
>Its much more likely they didn't have enough faith in the performance and audience that they felt the only way anyone could connect would be with a human face and that kind of thinking is patronizing.

This exactly. I bought the special edition of ASM1 on discount since I didn't see the movie and watched the special features.
They made Lizard like that since they feel it would emote better than the snout face.
>>
>>78801252
I hate both equally, I loath tacticool and both were...one was just early 00s and the other 2010s

I know for a fact when Goblin shows up in the MCU his outfit will be Caps only painted green and this annoys me to no end
>>
>>78801390
>I loath tacticool
Fuck you then, there is a thing called CONTEXT, and in the context of a corporation creating super soldiers, they are going to make fucking armored gear for them not god damn spandex.
>>
>>78801252
Harry's "goblin" suit was still shit. And a hoverboard doesnt compare to the glider
>>
>>78801439
>and in the context of a corporation creating super soldiers, they are going to make fucking armored gear for them not god damn spandex.

Green Goblin has super strength comparable and endurance superior to Spider-Man, as well as a healing factor. don't be a fucking idiot.

By your logic Spider-Man needs armor too.
>>
I hate that I can't even trust Marvel Studios to do a proper realization of their costumes. Electro with his stupid starfish mask would be more lovable than anything and you know it.
>>
>>78801439
The powers of Goblin never came from a suit....they came from the serum, the costume he made HIMSELF because much like Batman he wanted something to inspire fear
>>
>>78801610
theres a lot of alt electro designs that keep everything in tact but dont make the mask pop out
>>
Honestly I liked how they did Rhino. I just wish that we got to see more of him.
>>
>>78801506
It doesn't matter if he needs it, the cooperation/military that made his serum would still have set combat gear made for there test subjects that see combat.

Spider-Man doesn't need it because his entire fighting style is based on agility and moving about as fast as possible.
The Project that leads to the Goblin is meant to be a SOLDIER.

>>78801610
>Electro with his stupid starfish mask would be more lovable than anything and you know it.
No it would fucking ruin the entire experience and any tension and believability the film has.
>>
>>78801784
Green Goblin doesn't need it because his entire fighting style is based on agility and moving about as fast as possible.
>>
>>78801784
>No it would fucking ruin the entire experience and any tension and believability the film has.
Sorry you stop yourself from having fun.
>>
>>78801664
Yes, and it still would look fucking retarded, combat gear warped to a mad man's preferences will work immeasurably better.
Imagine ASM2's Amor worn by harry with mabye just a bit of purple on several plates... with this mask... >>78801381
THAT would be believable.
>>
>>78801831
No he doesn't, his glider is fast, but when separate from it, I don't recall the Goblins, any of them being particularly acrobatic in the comics.
>>
>>78801784
>It doesn't matter if he needs it, the cooperation/military that made his serum would still have set combat gear made for there test subjects that see combat.

It was a serum, not a suit of armor. I'm sick of you non comic fags. Goblin = the serum, plus weapons like the glider, laser gloves, and pumpkin bombs.....that alone makes him deadlier than Spider-Man

>>78801831
This.
>>
>>78801921
well your recollection is wrong.
>>
>>78801252
>at least he is more expressive then the stiff ass mother fucking mask we got with Defoe.

I liked the mask. And the suit.
>>
>>78801878
Fuck off MCU apologist. Tacticool looks fucking awful.
>>
>>78801784
Just because Oscorp would have likely made combat armor for test subjects doesn't mean that's what Green Goblin would decide to use for his costume.
>>
>>78801944
I KNOW the serum, is what gave him the powers not the outfit, but IN FILM, if they are making it be a military operation that creates the serum then the god damn outfit and tech logically should come from that operation at least in part also.
>>
I'd still rather have Power Ranger/Tacticool Goblin than Hulk!Goblin.
>>
>>78802003
>Tacticool looks fucking awful.
WHY, FUCKING EXPLAIN THIS MOTHER FUCKER?>>78802015
>>
>>78802027
>if they are making it be a military operation that creates the serum
But why even do this in the first place? Shit's retarded
>>
>>78802027
Yes and you're failing to make the distinction that with the criticism that the costume should look more like the comic costume design also logically comes with saying changes should be made to the film so it makes sense. No one is fucking trying to convince you that it should just be swapped out and nothing else be changed. Sorry if people were actually trying to talk about comics on a comic book board you dirty casual.
>>
>>78800272
Because Sony (and Fox) don't trust Marvel Comics because MC is technically Disney, and a business rival.

As such they would rather have their own conceptual artists work on the films, despite how uninspired they look. It a way that Sony can make them selves known, through brand recognition that "Sony's The Amazing Spider-Man" is the legit one.
>>
>>78802027
>if they are making it be a military operation that creates the serum then the god damn outfit
No...he's the Green Goblin...he makes the suit because he is insane and wants to be frightening, the military would never make Goblin costumes...hence why tacticool does not work

>and tech logically should come from that operation at least in part also.
Tech does....what do you think the glider is. Just like Spider-Man, a super soldier doesn't need armor....he isn't Iron Man, he has super powers
>>
>>78802105
>But why even do this in the first place? Shit's retarded
Found the Bias Liberal shit head that probably thinks Man of Steel was military propaganda.
>>
>>78801389
>the lizard
>emoting

What the fuck?
>>
>>78802157
>the military would never make Goblin costumes
But they would make combat gear for their test subjects, that Osborn can ALTER to fit his goblin personal while still being a believable outfit.

> Just like Spider-Man, a super soldier doesn't need armor....he isn't Iron Man, he has super powers
Ne ether Spidey nor any of the Goblins are bullet proof and if I recall correctly, in the comics its been stated the Goblin outfits are underlined with Kevlar.
>>
>>78801381
Stop posting it, it looks awful.
>>
>>78802210
No I just think that's a shitty change in origin. The serum should, if anything, be something Oscorp is producing for the military that Norman then takes for himself and becomes the Goblin. The military shouldn't be developing it themselves, that's not Green Goblin. That's Hulk or Captain America.
>>
I thought Electro's design was great when he was just wearing a hoodie, the bodysuit was just dumb though.

Actually, I feel that way about most villains in marvel movies. Whiplash was badass in his shirtless harness, but kinda dumb when he got a power suit.
>>
>>78802250
Characters need to emote, particularly unhuman characters, as there is a natural disconnect from the audience due to lack of empathy.

If they went with a completely feral Lizard, the snout would've been fine, but with the rational Lizard they chose to use, he needed to convey facial expressions properly.
>>
>>78802369
But that's exactly what it was both times.
>>
>>78802491
Then if Oscorp is producing it why are you going on about the military making it and having tacticool armor for test subjects?
>>
>>78802210
What are you even talking about?
>>
>>78802601
I'm not the same guy.

OsCorp was producing it for the military in Raimi's Spider-Man. In Webb's movies it was meant for terrorists.
>>
>>78802416
The only emotion he expressed in the movie was anger so it's not like they took advantage of the range they afforded themselves. Besides, i'd rather a character's strengths were amplified if anything, as opposed to just making the character into a skin to be worn by generic monsterman villain no#1639.
>>
>>78802491
And. That. Is. The problem.
Just refer to >>78802109
>>
Do you guys think an exact remake of Gobby's costume in the new movies would look good? I don't personally think it'd fit for this day and age... But what if they did something like the Arkham games and BvS did to Batman's costume?

They should have. The leather looked ridiculous, but not in a fun way.
>>
>>78802940
If anything, it fits for this day more than ever. At least better than 15 years ago, when it was all about reproducing the matrix look.
>>
>>78802940
I'm kinda confused on what you mean. The arkham and BvS costume were pretty much like the comics, save for a few changes.
>>
>>78802412
>kinda
>>
>>78803020
I love how well over half of comic book movies/shows make a point to insult costumes/hero names.
>>
>>78803535
That's what I mean: bringing in the comic costume, but modernizing it in a way.
>>
>>78803710
It's because they're childish and silly.

What the movies do wrong is being embarassed about this instead of just embracing it and having fun.
>>
>>78803711
?
>>
Why do people have this misconception that Marvel Studios is 100% faithful to cheesy costumes and wouldn't go tacticool/boring/away from the source material?
>>
>>78803711
BvS is literally the DKR suit.
>>
You'll get Ramos goblin and you fags will still complain

Aside from the (barely noticeable) pipelining. But what I'm trying to say is that what if the comic Goblin costume is brought over, with texture and some pipelining?

This is true, but it's nice to dream.

So I didn't actually see the movie because why bother, but what's the deal with Osborn not wearing a mask? Did they not want it to be a mystery that he's the Goblin?

He never becomes the Goblin, he's just portrayed by a British actor.
