These are not examples of good casting though. They created entirely new characters and specifically wrote them with the intention of these actors playing them. The fact that they then played the roles well isn't really good or interesting casting. By the standard of casting for who the characters are supposed to be and act before the movie changed them they are somewhat poor choices.

Irrelevant since in the movies he uses boosters and other things to make him look taller. How he looks in the movie is what matters.

>>78780894
I dont think he is perfect casting, I think most people dont read comics and because he is their introduction to the character and the majority of all they see of him he embodies the character to them. For me at least he is waaaaaay too tall and handsome. The name "Woverine" as a title doesn't make sense for someone so fantastic looking and tall and thats why they changed it to something retarded in X-Men Origins when the intention is he is short, hairy, and aggressive

No. I love MCD but he's not at all like the comic book Kingpin. Comic Kingpin only gets his hands dirty if its personal or if he absolutely has to. He would never send the guards home because he "grew up in the bronx." He wouldn't beat a tattle tale guard to death with his bare hands. MCD is awesome but this is an entirely different character. His Kingpin is a street thug who somehow acquired power.

That's more of a criticism of the writing though. MCD didn't have control over that stuff. If all that stuff was changed and you cast MCD again it would have been spot on, right? So the casting was great, even if the writing didn't nail the character.

They were not too bad.

Actually, slapstick aside, those movies weren't half bad, they were just too whimsical for the genre standards back then. I could see them being reworked a bit and making decent movies.

Give Doom a proper intro, ditch the relationship shit, get a better Sue and everything else kind of works. Ditch the super skrull shit too and make I'd make Ben CGI, or at the very least fix his hands and legs.

Even Galactus was kind of a neat concept if only they had shown a dude in a weird hat and a chair in the middle of all of it or just show the helmet-shaped light for longer. The traditional Galactus is kind of weird to introduce in a movie without further cosmic context and background. Silver Surfer was basically perfect.

The tone was pretty cool and so was most of the cast. Visually it looked good too. It's just the writing that was a bit retarded.

"He wouldn't come out of his trailer and he would smoke weed all day", recalls Oswalt. "Then I remember one day on the set- they let everyone pick their own clothes - there was one black actor who was also kind of a club kid. And he wore this shirt with the word 'Garbage' on it in big stylish letters. It was his shirt. And Wesley came down to the set, which he only did for close-ups. Everything else was done by his stand-in. I only did one scene with him. But he comes on and goes, 'There’s only one other black guy in the movie, and you make him wear a shirt that says ‘Garbage?’ You racist mothefucker!' And he tried to strangle the director, David Goyer".

Oswalt recalls that Snipes would stay in character throughout the whole shoot for the film, and when Oswalt introduced himself, Snipes simply said "I'm Blade". Furthermore, "a lot of the lines that Ryan Reynolds has were just a result of Wesley not being there".
It all came to a head when Wesley Snipes apparently sat down with David Goyer and said, according to Oswalt, "I think you need to quit. You're detrimental to this movie". And apparently, Goyer's response was "Why don't you quit? We've got all your close-ups and we could shoot the rest with your stand-in".
"And that freaked Wesley out so much that, for the rest of the production, he would only communicate with the director through Post-it notes. And he would sign each Post-it note 'From Blade'".
>>
>>
>>78782635
He was perfect for carrying the Gene Hackman torch of the original film series and carrying on a grand legacy in style, as was (most of) the rest of Superman Returns. But that wasn't what the world apparently wanted.

Christian Bale is only capable of playing a character whose just as much of a jerkass meathead as he is. This unfortunately informed the writing of the shit trilogy, causing Batman to be no more than an idiot rich kid with more muscles and money than sense who gets other people to do all the things that are most critical for his success, such as detective work and inventing the technology that allows him not to die in an instant. Lucius Fox is closer to a real Batman than Batman himself, but the script's logic gives undeserved symbolic importance to Bruce Wayne, despite the fact that very little of what he does is impressive.

He's aight. I'm not sure it's fair to blame him for how poorly he was portrayed as a character. All the terrible stuff was in the script. The guy can act and it's not like he's incapable of looking the part. He probably got some really cringey direction. >Favreau had to fight for him.
It was Terrance Howard the one who got him to be cast. Funny fact: RDJ got paid 200K for the first IM, Terrence 2M, for the second IM movie RDJ got 8M, Terrence asked the same, Marvel said no, and Terrence walked away. Terrence always felt like RDJ "betrayed" him, but honestly you can't expect to be paid the same as the main character when the whole franchise alredy is succesful because that main character.

>>78785612
What amazes me is how much Terence got paid. 2m? Fuck. Lets look at other actors in Marvel films
Chris Evans was paid around 250k for Cap 1
Mickey Rourke was offered around the same
And so was Chris Hemsworth
>>
>>78785488
The story was a "good" concept, but you can see it was a studio-meddling by the end, you can literally see what's filmed by the director, and what was filmed by the studio. It's like a cake was half baked by someone, then someone who doesn't know how to bake but sells cakes, he tries to re-bake that cake again. I'm not defending Trank, because it's half his fault, but a decent director would make a way better movie, if the studio didnt get their hands on it.
>>
>>78785730
Right now RDJ was paid 50M for AoU, Evans and Hemsworth 8M each, all others have no stated how much, but most liekly less than those 3, Witch and Quicksilver got 250K each.

I like Grant, I really do. But he isn't perfect casting. He's a handsome guy no doubt, but he doesn't look heroic. In the suit he looks ok, but in the majority of regular clothes he wear he looks like an absolute twink. I have no idea why they dont get the dude a proper trainer and nutritionist. Have him gain even like 20lbs at least of mass...And that's low balling it. But still, he's pretty good. He was good in the first one, but by the third one he was literally just playing himself rather than playing Tony Stark. Tony is essentially supposed to be James Bond who deals explicitly with corporate espionage and carries his armor in a suit case that he always has to find a way to put on in a high tension situation, usually just in time to save the day

I actually think the twist is funny and well done, but simultaneously robs the film of a good villain and kills the momentum it had. >>
>>78789586
Oldman is perfect in every movie he's in. He's literally the greatest actor in the world.
>>
>>78789696
I like Iron Man 2 but the main complaints I see is that Tony's arc is weak (don't want Rhodey to help -> okay Rhodey can help). there's too much set up for Avengers (personally I think it's an acceptable amount), and of course the MCU classic of a weak villain. Since apparently they cut out villain scenes to make room for the Avengers stuff.

My personal complaint which I also have with 3 is there's simply not enough Iron Man action in the films.
>>

The character was always a rich WASP thou and they tend to have strong ties to England.

Maybe they should start giving the spotlight to Cap more. RDJ's popularity is starting to fade, no need to give him preferential treatment at the expense of other MCU actors. With Spidey making a debut, Cap getting more popular, Cumberbatch bringing the fangirl dosh and GotG being a smash hit with normies, the MCU will do just fine without RDJ.

He was so perfect that he's also voiced Shaggy in the last two SD shows.

No. Ledger made a great Joker but that doesn't mean it was perfect casting. It just means casting a good actor who improves a character

I highly doubt this really happened. I think it's just PR to generate some buzz and promote RDJ

Modern Barry should be more like Grant. Pre-Crisis Barry will always be a nerdy retro scientist, bu Grant is probably what Johns wanted to portray in Barry.

He's not perfect. He has too much fat on his face and the goatee doesn't work on him. Won't argue with voicing though.

Pretty much everyone in this movie was expertly casted, but Lewis Black as the literal personification of Anger itself was absolutely fucking genius.

I still don't know whether I find Lewis Black or Patton Oswalt as lead voices in a kids movie funnier.

It's nice Black got a paycheck though, his standup kind of wilted post-Bush.

No, MCU Star-Lord is a great fun character, but he wasn't a good adaption.

Comic Star-Lord is a guilty war veteran with a dry sense of humour.
>>
>>78790929
He has no exposure other than that 90's short live cartoon. Even in the comics it was all about the xmen and spidey

While we continuosly got DC cartoons in the last decade or so.

GOAT choice Anon. It's amazing how he was able to make a great Loki without making him look too hammy.

I wonder if we'll see Loki reincarnate in Ragnarok, would be great to see Hiddleston act out a different version of the character.

Completely agree Anon, he basically re-invented Joker, not just filling in the role, but making it his own.

Yeah; everything about that movie is a bit shit as an adaptation, but for the most part makes for a good movie in its own way.

Kind of like the Super Mario Brothers movie. If that wasn't supposed to have been an adaptation it'd be remembered as a fun, goofy family movie with an interesting setting.
