Yeah, if they would actually post something on their job site that wasn't a fucking bus driver or Epcot cultural representative from countries I don't originate from. I mean fuck, I just want to be some part-time operations or merchandise monkey. I would do character auditions but they've got so many people willing to do that they never seem to say when they have openings.
While we're on the topic does anyone remember that one show from the late 90s where that weird robot thing that kind of looked like pic related (I think it was one of the robots from the House of Presidents without skin) and that guy talked about Disney World?
Nope. Never. I'm not an energetic or fun person so I'd be manning a cashier or working as a janitor. I've done that second one before. It is not a fun job. And I never had to deal with anything nastier than period explosions on toilet seats. I'm certain nastier surprises await within a place that gets thousands of visitors every day walking around with babies in skin-searing heat.
I know it's just a big corporate facade but I don't want to associate something as awesome and magical as shaking hands with Mickey Mouse right after walking out of Space Mountain with washing down steaming hot vomit, y'know?
Allright post one ride you could see your self 100% being a cast member of and guaranteed it will never go away, get boring or repetitive, and you can ride it when ever you want and interact with guests however you want.
also you can never switch to another ride\career or quit you are stuck there untill retirement.
Would be awesome if it were for all the wage fixing. Plus unless you're at the top, don't think your ideas are will even make it it out to the floor. And if they do, they're more than likely heavily gutted from what you wanted it to be..
>>78775857 Even if I forget for a minute I'm usually very shy... probably not. The only reason I can function well enough around women is because I'm into cartoon girls. But I saw quite a few hnnnggg actresses on the web who look and act like my favorite characters and I can say this: it wouldn't end well.
>>78788747 i was a custodian at epcot and i loved it. you're more of a talking park map than ajanitor. on a streets shift you get a few trash runs, then you can spend the rest of the time talking to guests, pin trading, and painting water mickeys. i picked up a streets shift once in magic kingdom and it was awful because they use plastic liners instead of trash bags so you can only empty a few cans before you have to go to the AVAC and then when you come back they're all full again... oh and restroom shifts with brazilian tour groups... but overall i loved it.
>>78790201 it really depends. the thing with Disney is their parks are institutions and they're very specific about what happens there; that said, they can actually afford to spend money on each park, to the amount it needs. meanwhile, Cedar Fair cares less about what happens at each park, but owns theme parks and water parks almost exclusively, and since they bleed money heavily, can't afford to keep each park up like it needs.
i give it to Cedar Fair because Halloween Haunt is a great way to get out all the built-up stress from the season.
Reminder if you get dressed up as a character then you are expected to walk around in the hot ass sun talking and interacting with strangers you couldn't even give a fuck about as that character. At any point you break character that is a good chance of you being fired on the spot.
I'm pretty sure there are blogs made just to share such stories of how fucking awful working there can be.
my bro worked at the TTC in the college program. he didn't get paid well and had to pay for part of his subsidized apartment so money was tight, and there were times he had to work 72 hours straight over the holidays with naps in the locker room. also it's hot as hell in the parking lot all day. but the people he met were awesome and from around the world. they'd go drinking at the irish pub in downtown disney when they had free time and would visit islands of adventure sometimes because its way fucking better rides than disney.
>>78795717 as a fellow former CP i knew a lot of people who were tight on money and i was skeptical of them. i lived in the most expensive complex at the time (patterson) and received minimum wage for my role, working about 32 - 55 hours a week. i went to the parks a lot so i spent money constantly but it was rare that i had less than a couple hundred in my account. imo all the people who struggled with having enough money just didn't know how to handle theirs. i came home with about $800 i saved just from money i ended up not spending before my program ended.
I have friends at WDI & they are some of the most miserable people in the company. And now its all about Star Wars, Frozen & Marvel. Star Wars is the worst since Disney execs & Lucasfilm execs countermand each other constantly & nobody knows who to take orders from.
>>78775857 I remember some guy posting about how you can never ever under any circumstance break character and how you should never try and fugg the princesses (or even try relationships and shit) and how people don't listen how they shouldn't feed any wild animals around.
>>78796074 One of my old coordinators was ex military and he was the one who usually drilled us for marching in the Flag Retreat ceremonies. That wasn't an entertainment role, though, you'd have to work in entertainment to be training stormtroopers.
>>78789103 >tfw you can't flirt with the princesses because they will get shit on and you'll get kicked out so you have to go through a bunch of bullshit and look creepy in order to ask them out on social media
I did. It depends on what you want. I got an okay job - driving the trams around the parking lot. Minimum wage of course. But for just a college internship it was great. I mean, I got to go to Disney World for free four times a week for most of last year. Great way to make a ton of friends my age. But if you get a job like working the tollbooth...it sucks. The job's not great, but if you're young and want to make a ton of friends, go to Disney World a few times every week, it's awesome.
I swear these threads pop up more frequently around recruitment season. That said, college program applications for the fall are coming up over the next month so if you want to work and live and die for the Mouse, now's your chance.
I never dreamed about it until I saw the flyer on campus. It's not something I'd do forever or quit college for, but I'm damn proud of my time there. Great memories and great friends. If you're a guy, I can't think of a better way to meet girls.
It's torturous, will-breaking, and mind-numbing. Disney World was a shady institution that had poor customer service and employee treatment that got covered up through bribes to press and human resources when it first began, and still is to this day.
No, but I met an old lady who said she was originally. Colombian woman who worked at one of the hotels. Said she came illegally at first, but eventually became legal? I don't know because she was speaking Spanish the whole time with my roommate, so I got this second hand. Nice lady though. Glad Disney employs people like her either way.
>>78795762 >and kids get to use jedi mind tricks on you
>Working as stormtrooper costumefag at mouseschwitz >Get payed $11 and hour to stand around and occasionally interact with tourists >Kid walks up to me while his family is at an information kiosk >Stares at my helmet for a few seconds >Takes his mp3 player out of his pocket, turns the volume up, and holds it up near my face >WHEN YOU PRAY FOR THE RAIN YOU GOTTA DEAL THE MUD >AND WHEN YOU PRAY FOR THE PAIN YOU GOTTA DEAL WITH THE BLOOD >mfw
