Emma Stone is in talks with Disney to star in CRUELLA, a live-action movie about Cruella De Vil.
Holy shit. I can kinda' see the appeal of Maleficent, but who the fuck will watch a movie about fucking Cruella?
I appreciate that they're using people who look like their counterparts, but this is a totally different villain. Maleficent had ambiguous general evil as a motive. Making her into a sympathetic victim was easy because she was nebulous. Cruellas motivation was vanity via animal murder. Unless you're going to have Lauren Faust and Michael Vick play the goons for a sick giggle, this premise falls flat
They're going to do it. They're really going to fucking try to make a person who literally kills puppies a redemption story.
>Dat feel when I saved this image years ago thinking it was nothing more than an artist over reacting
I was Wrong!
>let's take a grotesque, appearance-obsessed character meant to demonize something and cast a cute young girl instead. that's fine, right?
fucking oz the great and pannable.
in any case, cruella's live action casting writes itself: wendie malick. she even has the voice.
Why stop there
>Jafar was a sorcerer's apprentice who got executed by the dopey Sultan and now seeks to change Agrabah's barbaric hierarchy.
>Ursula was thin and beautiful until King Trident rejected her because the Trident talked to him and told him she's gonna be evil in the future.
>Gaston was the mightiest hero the village ever saw, but one woman ruined his image forcing him kill a beast to win the hearts of the masses again.
>A man will be the aggressor, same as Maleficent.
yeah see, there's a way to spin this shit so the lefties get their fun. Make the beast out to be this woman-kidnapping manipulative manchild. There, now it works
but it would never be allowed without gaston being made into a girl
(they uh.. they actually have done those first two as stage shows)
not really. nor was there for maleficent.
we did get a less-evil cruella in the tv series, where she was more moneygrubbing and cut out the fur shit because it was getting her in trouble.
The more I think about it, Gaston was an asshole and a huge dick but the guy didn't deserve to die. If any one deserves it the most is that old lady that cursed a kid for not letting her in when he was home alone.
I'd watch that Gaston film. He wasn't exceptionally villainous until the last third of the film. Just a chauvinistic jackass. You can spin that into a tragic fault that's part of an otherwise heroic character easy.
>people think they'll do another "sympathetic" story instead of a joke one
Let's face it you cannot make puppies evil/morally ambiguous. I mean no one has tried the "but she was really justified" shit like with Maleficent or Gaston.
I'd watch a Hades movie where Herc is an evil jackass. Hell just MoCap James Woods and you've got a winner.
Maybe make it a redemption story? He gets put under a curse like the Beast instead of dying?
This, its an instant tell when someone hot and young is cast as a villain. Example: Mila Fucking Kunis as the Wicked Witch of the West
>>and if they were going to turn her into an actual villain then why cast someone young and pretty?
It does happen sometimes.
I can't wait for Disney to acquire the rights to Murcielago and turn Koumori into a misunderstood, victimized maid.
>im fairly certain itll be a parody of maleficent if anything
>Curella contantly plays the victim in the narration but is clearly evil in the film.
I like it.
I could see it working.
>this fucking movie.
She went from a kick ass dark self proclaimed Mistress of all evil to a poor little rape victim who woke up in the morning in a pool of blood only to find out that the man she trusted was really an evil power hungry man who had stolen her virginity ...I mean wings while she slept.
Maleficent use to be such an epic villain that even non-disney fans used to respect her. Now shes just a goth emo chick for other teen / young adult goth emo chicks to look up to.
They turned the King into an irredeemable evil monster that slaps cute little old female fairies in mid air. They even allowed Maleficent to be the bigger person by giving him the chance to stop fighting but no he was an evil man and kept trying to kill her. She wasn't even allowed to kill him. He died by his own hand do to not being able to stop being such an evil angry typical man.
She wasn't even allowed to turn into the large iconic dragon at the end.
Gaston film might work, the problem is they'll go full out with the sympathetic route and blame all of his faults to someone else or make him secretly a soft hearted and emotional man.
For me the absolute worst fucking part is they decided to make the faries literal retards who are completely useless for no reason. By trying to make an already badass character more "developed" and "sympathetic" they made the three other characters dumbed down. The only characters that needed development were Aurora and the Prince and even then their still as dull as they were years ago.
>no movie about a manly ass buff Imperial British explorer beating the shit out of everything and yelling GOD SAVE THE QUEEN all the time
what? the guy in the original stories that sent aladdin into the cave was hella evil. or at least mildly bad. he wanted the lamp for himself and was pissed when he didnt get it
though he did help him out a bit, giving him the genie of the ring first
I rember that. Looking back at that book I'm pretty sure that he's lying and that was his way of saying face
>I-It was an accident I swear!
>They were dead when I got them s-so why not eat them right?
Someone post the pics Gaston and him broing out. You know the ones.
I hope you're right jamie frankles, but we just can't help but worry given recent events
that cinderella movie thankfully turned out NOT to be a sympathetic movie about evil strapmother, but it was still bad.
head like a fuckin' lime
yeah but part of the evil queen's character is that she's pretty. not the fairest in the land, but close.
cruella's someone who's already horribly ugly but is in denial about it and thinks herself a fashion icon. Honestly she needs to be played by joanna lumley
>Cruella is an introverted, but talented aspiring fashion designer.
>Gets a job at a prestigious boutique run by a ruthless female fashion mogul.
>Befriends dog-lover Anita and falls in love with songwriter Roger Radcliffe, who also loves dogs. Cruella does not get along with Roger's puppy, Pogo.
>Meets a handsome designer who romances her, but then betrays her and steals her designs for a rival.
>Cruella's Bose advises her to become heartless to succeed. Cruella does something heartless reluctantly. Inherits the company but loses Roger, who marries Anita.
>They have 101 dalmatians, which Cruella hates because it reminds her of the life she could've had. They're also a wild and disruptive bunch.
>The guy that betrayed her is now her main rival and planning a new line of furred coats, one of the stolen designs.
>Cruella becomes obsessed with beating him by making a coat out of the dalmatians.
>Can't bring herself to do it because she has heart.
>Helps Roger and Anita rescue them from the evil rival.
>Becomes rich with a new line of coats for puppies, meets Mr. Right. Adopts a puppy and lives happily ever after.
More like how long until the tell the story about poor unfortunate Ursula who was banished from the Kingdome by the evil King Triton who raped her in some way by taking half of her magical powers aka what later turned into his magic Triton .
She didn't mean to screw over Ariel. She was just trying to be her fairy godmother but need Ariel's voice in order to make the spell that would turn her into a human to work. You see her magic isn't very powerful anymore since the evil male Triton stole half of her powers. This is also why she could only turn Ariel human for only 3 days. Her magic is weak thanks to MEN!
You don't understand, she never actually killed anyone.
It's just bad publicity.
And clearly she's not a lesbian either. She's just good friends with a lot of women. Like really good.
Th-This is gonna be it, isn't it?
is hilarious how if Disney actually wanted to have a tragic story about someone trying to right but constantly getting screwed over by himself and the higher powers they already have access to Heracles
Actually thinking about it now, the only possible way they can create this movie without being complete shit is if they go full on Citizen Kane; Poor but talented girl wanting to make a name for herself but as she slowly gets more money and influence becomes more greedy and selfish until she alienates everyone she cares about.
Granted they'll fuck it up, but it's a tiny possibility.
There's no such thing as love at first sight or true loves kiss. The new modern day hipster latino looking male prince didn't feel right about kissing her in her sleep without her permission. Once he was basically forced to by the "good fairies" to man up and kiss her his kiss was powerless. Only empowering girl on girl love could wake Elsa from her Icy sleep.
>no Hades movie with James Woods
Come on Disney.
Transformers and Adam Sandler films are targeted for men but that don't make them any less terrible. Tyler Perry are targeted for blacks but I've met black people who hate him.
I do admit to genuinely want to see a Hades film where he isn't the bad guy for once though.
Animals will always get more sympathy then humans, no matter gender or race.
Great I missed this post. Now I have to go into the archives to find out what was so edgy that it just had to be deleted.
movie about poor innocent hyena's who got oppressed by a racist king and then tragically were used by his evil brother in a bid for power thinking he was fighting for their equality when?
heck in mythology he is incredibly chill about his deals
>pls sir lord of the underworld can I have my beloved one back I love her so much
alright, but just to test if you really love and trust her, don't look back okay?
that's one of the most reasonable and fair deals involving returning someone from the dead in all of god damn mythology
The first one was a post about how their should be a buddy film of Gaston and Clayton. Nothing bannable so I'm assuming anon deleted himself for some odd reason. Second post was about how the film is targeted for woman and as such will follow the usual tropes that executives follow to get that audience. Again, nothing really ban worthy.
>tfw you will never pay to see a movie that consists of gastons wacky adventures hunting and shit
>you will never hear an even better version of no one does x like gaston
>you will never watch him try to find love
>you will never watch him defeat the beast
>you will not watch the scene where belle is studying in paris and gets a box with a dead badger and a postcard from her home town
>you will never watch the scene where gaston wonders aloud what makes a man a man
>you will never see his deep internal struggles
>you will never see it cut quickly from that to him breaking china with his biceps
>you will never see a new era of gaston-posting ushered in on 4chan
why even live
I think in all of the Hades myths, the most "evil" thing he did was have Persephone stay in the underworld for a few months. And even then, the myths about that conflict a bit. In some, Persephone genuinilly loved him in return, in other she hates being with him, and in others she's only there to get away from her mother Demeter.
But I can't think of any other stories were he's actually doing anything shitty like Zeus or Poseidon do all the fucking time.
