A brand new season of Samurai Jack is being made for Adult Swim Toonami. Coming in 2016.
After two weeks off from the normal lineup we are finally back, and we begin Samurai Champloo. Last weeks numbers were record lows for the shortened lineup, this week was better but not much to talk about. AgK and Parasyte had great retention between each other but AgK was pretty down from normal. The end of the block took a hit, but still up from last week. An ok start for Champloo though.
12:00a Dragon Ball Z Kai 1287 0.57 722

The one thing that bothers me is that they try to make it seem the Empire has been around forever yet at the same time make it look like they just recently started to conquer its neighbors
Last week's special occasion HG winner.
honk is STILL best boy confirmed
Looks like the TOM/Sara banter is gone for good
>BIG changes coming with Intruder 2
>we are going to do LESS work :^)
It really feels like the whole show takes place in some sort of edgy RP server in an MMO with permadeath. Constant tone breaking comedy during downtime, constant death with backstory only kicking in just beforehand, actually entertaining/good characters are squandered and die, video game lingo used by multiple characters without batting an eye, fixation on the term "trump card" as if it were a game mechanic, terms that sound like they came from an obscure JRPG ("danger beast" and "imperial arms"), insanely stupid powers that have vague limits and abilities and don't make a ton of sense (I will never not think "Sniper rifle that's stronger when you're in danger" isn't the dumbest shit in the world), literal "nuh-uh that didn't kill me" moments, generic as fuck MC with shit taste in women, etc. Then of course you have ERPers like those brothel guys from that episode's first scene (remember when Tatsumi and Leone raided that place and out of nowhere Leone said "That girl he was just beating up as we got here is one of my best friends" out of nowhere?) and the fat black clown in the manga that rapes pyro's family.
Thinking back on everything I've seen, I think this may just be the worst-written piece of fiction I've ever seen in my life. Pretty impressive, to be honest.
>people don't need them
Uh, like I want to memorize your shitty schedule? It's nice to know when Naruto's coming on so I can change the channel, and I don't have satellite so I can't see it with the push of a button anymore.
This is stupid
I've read pornographic fanfiction that blows AGK out of the water. Maybe not worse than EVERY piece of fiction, but I'd wager that it's worse than even a majority of unpublished dogshit.
Another good one
>Akame saying no Imperial Arms can bring people back from the dead
>Her sister's Imperial Arms brings people back from the dead
Since the Akame anime differs wildly from the manga after this episode, I might as well mention that the newest chapter had Wave rescue Kurome from her fight with Akame, declare his love for her, and then they fuck off from the story. The same won't happen in the anime, obviously.
So that big fight alluded to between Akame and Kurome? Doesn't even fucking happen. The anime did a better fucking job with it.
Also, the author of the manga previously designed scenarios for VNs. How was that not an immediate warning that his writing was gonna be shit?
>They could have filled that plot hole by saying that they're just puppets, corpses being manipulated
>Shape-shifting girl demonstrates that they have some of their consciousness left, rendering the entire situation even more confusing
>Empire openly crucifies hundreds, slaughters whole towns who even show the slightest hint of disloyalty, orders the assassination of its own officials
>Thinks putting a head on a pike is a way to deter rebellion
>the guy who writes the akame ga killl manga also wrote some of Yuki Yuna is a Hero
>talk to mom constantly everyday
>mom gets raped
>stop talking to mom
I hope the lore gets no deeper.
But new girl was a huge cunt, why would anyone miss her
>she's only been around for a few days and only went on one mission that was a success
>her only ability is to change into a cat
>when the empire eventually finds out about this they'll just start killing cats everywhere
>when the empire eventually finds out about this they'll just start killing cats everywhere
Look, the empire's pretty evil, but I haven't seen any indication that they're THAT evil.
There's no new animation though. The banter on the Absolution was the exact same animation weekly with the banter played over it. All this shows is they can't afford to pay Blum for 15 seconds of work each week
he's also on tour isn't he
>The banter on the Absolution was the exact same animation weekly with the banter played over it
how'd i not notice
if something is a threat to the empire they'll kill them
Doesn't matter to them, they're SUPER DUPER EVIL and shit
>Look, the empire's pretty evil, but I haven't seen any indication that they're THAT evil.
They hire people who literally cut off people's faces and crucify people by the hundreds because it's a Tuesday. They are soo that evil it's retarded
>Doesn't matter to them, they're SUPER DUPER EVIL and shit
Dude, the same could be said of /b/, but God help you if you harm so much as one whisker...
The real test will be what replaces AgK coming up. It was easy to play off Champloo since technically it may have came out of the 2015 budget, Fujiko Mine was just a cover up to make it look like they tried to get something new. If AgK isn't replaced by a dub premier then we know the budget was killed for Jack
The question now is when do we find out?
Yes he is. But he could literally phone those lines in while he is on the shitter. Demarco said they won't return, so this is clearly a Demarco needs to save more money for marathons decision
>That's too much work. I have to sit down and go through endless amounts of work that NO ONE WILL EVER NOTICE THE DIFFERENCE.
>I think a robotic voice is much better price efficient, and will give a better more futuristic tone to Toonami.
>Also we cut Sara completely in favor for a mute computer.
well if anyone here is right then Demarco might need to save up on money and we all know marathons are the cancer killing toonami
So MAYBE Demarco might swallow his pride and stop airing marathons for a while till they make that money back
OR that won't happen because DeMarco refuses to admit marathons are cancer
>Parasyte does well enough
>Demarco immediately goes "dude marathons are actually good look how well this one marathon did"
>Unless Demarco does something retarded
Wouldn't be the first time...
You know, I think that Chelsea chick should've thought more ahead when she tried to kill Akane's sister.
8 minimum on deck. Remember, if you are tired of marathons DONT watch them
>DONT watch them
Silly anon, that's how you get the block cancelled :^)
Related to TOM and Sara? No. Desert base for a year minimum. Show wise? Something "big"
Does DeMarco really not understand that the toonami packaging is why people tune in?
Anyone interested in the actual shows has likely seen them already or an marathon an entire season at once without having to stay up on a saturday.
AS does this to themselves. Every show they have that does decent is treated like Family Guy until people hate the show.
>wow guys people like Rick and Morty
>hey I know lets air the same 10 episodes for a whole year until the next season is ready. They will love that!
>why can't R&M break 700k outside of premiers now :(
They fucked up losing Futurama. It was a guaranteed ratings buffer show that they needed to keep AS alive in between new seasons of their originals on top of the Seth 3. Instead they force their original titles to air until they are ruined permanently
>hey I know lets air the same 10 episodes for a whole year until the next season is ready. They will love that!
Anon, that's how they make back money on producing a half hour show with a budget higher than most of their other series.
I was under the impression that its major draw is in being literally the only channel in North America to air anime that's not kiddie shit. I, for one, don't really give a rat's ass about the packaging.
Keep in mind that while most of us here on the chan know where to get animu, and we can always browse /a/'s catalog if we're not sure what to watch, most people are not that sophisticated. To them, they're just animated shows with a different styling, and *maybe* if they're paying attention they'll notice that many of them are set in Japan. These are the people /a/ is talking about when they say "plebs".
On the flip side, that's also kinda what makes Toonami important. It's really one of the few gateways for non-weebs to get into anime. Given the state of the industry, such as it is, we really can't afford to lose it a second time.
Because its the one thing that distinguishes her as a character especially when she's just a head.
>talked shit on Shell and Bro about getting killed, refuses help, only killed fire guy without his weapon.
>Couldn't killed Akame's sister who was almost dead.
>Gets BTFO and we have to feel for her fuck dat.
What will replace AgK, I wonder? Anything that seems pretty hype or actually good is either outside of their budget and/or caught up in some other streaming service.
Considering that we're three years in, how would you have handled Toonami differently? For me, I would've:
>not replayed AoT a 2nd time in the early half
>gotten four new movies for the 2nd night of movies
Those are the only two things that immediately come to mind.
but she brought the bantz. That's literally the most important thing for a character to do.
She sucks too, should have been vored.
>>literal "nuh-uh that didn't kill me" moments
>akames sisters dead frog thing has a belly full of acid
>anyone who gets swallowed in should be dead
>pink haired girl gets swallowed in
>fucking cuts her way out with acid leaking out
>only her clothing is a bit damaged
>even though she was in there for at least 3 minutes
>What will replace AgK, I wonder? Anything that seems pretty hype or actually good is either outside of their budget and/or caught up in some other streaming service.
Well, if it's another Sentai Filmworks series, they still have Fate/Stay Night available to them.
People really do care about the packaging. Don't you remember [as] action? It was the block predecssor of Adult Swim Toonami and it had absolute shit ratings, then lo and behold the Toonami block came back and the ratings slowly but surely began to increase.
Toonami is special because it provides something no other channel does. It has bumps, a CG robot host, and a lore behind the host and world they live in.
I think most people pick up on that. But the anon that you replied to gets that without good shows people will only tune in for so long. I'm not gonna keep destroying my circadian rhythms to keep watching "safe" normie shows. I wouldn't mind catching SOMETHING that doesn't feel like it is tailor made for the block. I don't want Himoutou or Nichijou, I would just kill for a Gundam, Panty and Stocking, Tiger and Bunny or just something that isn't lackluster.
I get that Toonami is trying to appeal to normies and non-weebs but they could at least try to show some better stuff for the people that have sat back and grinded with the block for 3+ years. I really feel like Jason is lowkey out of touch.
>Panty and Stocking
God, wouldn't we all love that? It's even an action show too. It's unfortunate that TBS wouldn't let it anywhere near their broadcast transmitters without censoring it to the point of castration.
OK, I'll start.
You're a stickbundle.
Do you not have a cable box then? How is this even possible? Most cable packages have the guide button as a standard
>I don't want Himoutou or Nichijou
why the hell not?
It'd be nice for the weekly waifu wars to be on-topic for once.
They aren't mai waifus. Stocking is best grill of PSG, but that's not the point.
Also, >>78740652 is a Demarco
I don't understand this. You have a multitude of superior options for watching this shit, yet you cling to a rusted relic on display once a week and fucking hate the tour guide.
They're not going to air PSG. They're not going to air anything unless it has potential to be palpable to normalfags. You know this, yet you roll in here week in and week out to circlejerk your hatred like you were fucking Sisyphus.
Anime was quick to embrace the internet for distribution. TV just doesn't cut it anymore for it. You have zero right to complain when the alternatives have availed themselves in such a capacity and in a manner that offers unparalleled convenience and variety
>b-b-but muh packaging
Looks to me like that's barely a thing anymore anyway. If this shit isn't to your liking, then let it die. What should you care when you hate it anyway and know it won't ever be to your standards?
>mfw it's true but my roommate moved out and I need the company so I watch it anyway
Not pick up the long runners right out of the gate. Bleach was fine since it really was the only purpose Toonami was ressurected for anyway, but grabbing Naruto 6 months in killed my hope of the block ever being good.
And 3 years later I see exactly what I expected, mediocrity
We wouldn't complain if we didn't love the block. Just eating whatever was put in front of us would be insane, and indifference is a step away from ditching the block completely.
>MUH STREAMING IS DA FUTURE
Fuck off with that. This is about a nostalgic tradition that's being poisoned by poor business practices.
>Not pick up the long runners right out of the gate. Bleach was fine since it really was the only purpose Toonami was ressurected for anyway, but grabbing Naruto 6 months in killed my hope of the block ever being good.
I feel exactly the same, and I'm still baffled by his reasoning for it.
>"It's UNCUT GUYS"
Then we got fucking Shippuden and One Piece. Oh, and let's not forget about the final nail in the coffin
DBZ.I would've been fine with one or two slots being locked down forever but nope.
We are all aware how to stream, and I'd guess pretty much all of us do it.
That aside, it isn't unreasonable for us to want the LAST place anime will be on TV to be a decent ride. It's fun with friends, even knowing it will never get better
Does anyone else here remember when they aired Blue Sub 6 uncut and had those mermaid things thrashing around with bare breasts?
My fucking dick
Demarco hates it so it won't air on the block despite viewers wanting it
That aside >>78743013 makes a valid point. Only a few episode are good, the rest are nickel and dime budget tier garbage, many lacking the action component the block needs.
Also it would need significant verbal censorship
does liking cat tats make me a furry?
>Dragon ball Z
We already have Kai
>Tenchi in Tokyo
No, more Tenchi shows please.
I'm unsure actually.
>Zoids: Chaotic Century
Let me give you a list that actually holds quality.
Full Metal Alchemist (2003) anime
Some are not exactly "retro" on some accounts but who cares. QUALITY.
You're about ~10-15% furry right now.
It's a classic Adult Swim anime.
>You have to be kidding
What's wrong with it?
>Not action at all, and also not good at all
Death Note than? Kinda modern but it has an audience of faggots.
But nobody is watching the new shows. Look at DBZ Kai. Dragon Ball has been reran how many times now in the last half decade? But it's one of the highest rated anime's on the block.
I just felt like posting because I missed you all tuesday and figure some negative replies are just as good as real replies.
Fuck, I totally forgot about that. Thanks to the long runners, with the 7 slots that we have, three are taken up by long-runners. Yeah, I wouldn't have done that either, looking back on it.
I just wish Demarco would open his eyes to it and cut One Piece. It's never going to be watchable at this rate thanks to Toei.
Also, it's technically 4 slots since 3am will always be a throwaway rerun
Demarco is a big fan of the series and protects it, it does just well enough for him to keep exec eyes off of it.
An order to drop it by the execs is literally the only way it will be removed
All this. People need to accept that it's over for One Piece to be marketable in the U.S. When it had it's chance it was nabbed by 4kids and butchered to hell and back. It's a bit unfortunate but that's how is. They probably should just rerun Bleach or something in it's place. It's pretty much the show that was carrying Adult Swim's anime block of old.
That isn't the point for dropping OP. It's to open up another slot for a shorter show. Right now the block has too much stagnation
This is wrong too, we already have one rerun forever, and right now a second ASA show. Bebop has run more than enough and Dandy reruns leave a lot to be desired ratings wise.
I wish Funi would pull the stick out of their ass and hook us up with some of their infinite titles
>That isn't the point for dropping OP. It's to open up another slot for a shorter show.
I'd think that would be more expensive to have another rotating show slot than to just have a 100+ episode series anchored.
Besides, they have a perfectly usable slot for shorter shows already, the one currently occupied by Kill la Kill. Sure it's presently 3am, but if you bump the shonen hour down half an hour, that could free up 2am.
It's a nice thought but they won't do it.
Look, if we are having 8 marathons a year and generic bumper dialog, there damn well better be some fucking money laying around to do stuff with. DBZ, Nardo and a rerun, then 4 rotating slots for 20ish episode shows isn't an unreasonable goal.
Welp I learned that fapping 4 times in one night will kill your sex drive for at least 5 days.
The things I learn from Toonami are strange, at best. Space out the fappings, never more than two a night.
I'd like it to end this season. I enjoy Venture Bros., but it feels like it's starting to come to a close, and after five seasons stretched out over NINE fucking years (soon to be six seasons stretched out over thirteen years), I'm starting to get some fatigue.
For all I know, I could be married and have kids by the time season 7 comes around.
>not fapping more than 4 times a day
Even in her damned backstory, she still had those things on. I'm not convinced she wasn't a cyborg of some kind. It's not like it would be completely out of place in AGK's screwy setting.
>Half the reason I watch are the comfy bumps
Hell, that's about 80% of the reason I keep non-Toonami [adult swim] running in the background (muted during the Seth shows). Glancing back at the bumps on occasion is almost the sole reason I even bother tuning it.
When was AgK dubbed? It was after Trump announced his candidacy right? With how often the phrase comes up in the series, I really feel like someone at Sentai did it intentionally because of Trump.
I did like brotherhood more but even I know you have shit taste. The '03 version has its strengths.
Does anyone else wish they would cut the DBZ OP and give another show a shot at it? It used to be first show + breadwinner show runs a full OP. DBZ will never leave the first slot, and they dropped that second full run. I know we need time to hear about how tobacco is a bully but there has to be time somewhere, especially if 10-15 seconds of now-next-later segments are removed after every mid show break
I just want more of
that Parasyte OP I hated at first but really enjoy now
I do not know how much we should keep this up, on one hand.. we need bumps.
On the other hand... we need to preserve our essence until Saturday.
Bootyposting is a way of life anon, embrace it.
This was literally the only reason to watch the block. The shows are shit, but the weekly flair of fresh dialog and general packaging made them less shit. I'd even tune in at midnight on marathon nights to catch the bantz.
I'd love to see Demarco mismanage the block to cancellation before Jack got finished. One last platinum kek
I wish this block never got brought back if this is the future of Toonami and this man is still in charge.
Demarco really should get over OP and let it go. We could use another slot, but I don't see it happening unless OP is finally gone, or Viz is willing to trade Shippuden for one of their newer shows. I don't know what else they have besides Sailor Moon Crystal, Tiger and Bunny and Hxh. I'm not including OPM because it probably won't be dubbed for a while. Hunter x Hunter replacing Shippuden would be the best bet but fuck more long running shows.
10 bucks says they've already been working on dubbing OPM
By the look of things Demarco has no intention of pulling Shitpudding either, especially since in 3-4 weeks we hit the point where Disney stopped airing it.
I genuinely hope Demarco makes a public statement about OPM either a yes or never, just so you fuckers shut up about it. At only 12 episodes it would only be a band aid for the lineup anyway
I don't think we'll see OPM personally because of it being 12 episodes and there's like five OVA? When's the last time we actually saw a one cour anime on the block besides Deadman? Never unless I'm forgetting something.
I also don't want OPM because I could see it being another Attack on Titan on the block aka budget killer having to be rerun 5 times.
You guys know it's been confirmed for a second season right? By the time it gets considered, they can probably ether buy two as a package deal or none.
>You guys know it's been confirmed for a second season right?
You do realize there's not enough source material, right? You won't see a season two for at least three years+ with Murata current pacing.
The ending was pretty bad the more and more I think about it. But it did do well at introducing the world and characters. Fleshing out the characters a good pace. Honestly if someone wants to get into FMA they really need to watch the first half of the original FMA series then brotherhood.
>But instead we just get pure reruns.
And reruns of the episodes they just aired.
If there hellbent on showing reruns, they should do something like opening it up to a vote for the favorite episodes and air them in the marathon.
They fucking put a girl's head on a pike. That's evil. You can say shit about America and its politics, but you don't see us cutting up the bodies of our enemies and displaying them like trophies on a mantle
If One is penning all those OVA plots, what's to say he won't just pen scripts for shit to occur in the anime and call it "lost chapters" as far as Murata and he are concerned? They've already added a bunch of shit like Faggot Mask trying to creep on Genos, after all
>Tenchi in Tokyo
At least get Tenchi Muyo or Tenchi Universe.
Is that the one with the Deathsaurus?
From what I remember, it was a fun watch.
These are the only ones I can get behind.
>they played Brotherhood nonstop till the rights expired.
IIRC, consisted of airing it 3 full times.
That's because you'd rather just drop bombs on them and leave the remains to rot. And then later if you have time, figure out if they were terrorists or just people having a wedding.
I want Kenshin back real badly. Fucking shit. Its a shame the ship has sailed on movies. Samurai X would have been great to see on toonami. Maybe in parts.
Dude; bringing Toonami back was "a poor business practice". Why the fuck can't you guys just remember it fondly and accept that it will never be the same. The west had it's exposure to anime and it created us. Let the internet handle the next generation.
They'll never cancel One Piece because the license is really inexpensive when you consider that it basically supplies them with infinity episodes.
Rather than negotiate a new contract every few months, OP will reliably provide content for years to come. If OP were cancelled tomorrow in Japan, Toonami would still have enough episodes to last into the next decade.
Ultimately a long-running show with a loyal fanbase that gets good-but-not-great numbers is worth more than a new show whose potential numbers are unknown. Especially since most other anime would just need to be replaced in three to six months.
Plus, I doubt most rights-holders are willing to let their brand new shows air as late as 2:30 AM. Champloo's slot is probably the latest they can afford to air new acquisitions. And if they can't find anything to program at 2:30, they'll probably lose three as well.
tl,dr: If Toonami lost One Piece they would probably also lose another hour. But hey, if you're THAT desperate to see more Cleveland Show reruns...
YES! A thousand times yes. Hell between the live action films and the more recent animated ovas, they really should do another series that is a word for word adaptation of the manga.
>I just wish Demarco would open his eyes to it and cut One Piece.
>I really don't get why OP is still on the block
B-b-but I'm sure if they replaced One Piece with MY personal favorite animu, it would get 30 billion viewers every week!
Doesn't DeMarco know that the point of Toonami is to pander exclusively to my tastes?
>I just wish Demarco would open his eyes to it and cut One Piece.
One piece is here to stay. Stop bitching about it.
I never said all Americans were stupid.
I just thought it to myself, just like everyone else in the world does. Except Americans, since they are incapable of thinking of anything except hamburgers and Bible verses.
The TOM/Sara banter is a real loss. Maybe they used up their Steve Blum budget on Intruder II.
But the menu bumps? Big deal. Those didn't really have a purpose anymore. Almost everyone with cable has a guide built into their TV, and if they don't, they have the internet. If they want to know what's coming up next, they can find out way faster than waiting for a commercial break.
Menu bump will be missed, but its time has come and gone.
Face it dude, if America were any good, they wouldn't have legally banned all American cartoons from Toonami.
(Samurai Jack was created by a Russian and is about a Japanese guy, obviously doesn't count. Besides every American cartoon in history was made by Seth Mcfarlane.)
The Samurai X version sucked. Uryu as Sanosuke? Igor/Byakuya as Saito? No thanks. Media Blasters dub was where it was at. I hear Aniplex has the series now, and that the first 30 episodes are on netflix. Not sure which version it is though
I had a dream you guys. Toonami was cancelled,I'm not sure how. Then we all met in real life and did sex stuff, our Waifus died shortly after. WHAT DOES IT MEAN?!
>tfw you can't think of fun banter to post in Toonami general anymore
The point of bringing it back was a final attempt to save ASA so Bleach could finish its run. If things went like they had been on ASA, Bleach would have been pulled early and never finished its run. In that department, Toonami fulfilled its purpose and then some, and even with its current mediocre ratings, it's still doing way better than ASA
3am is an eternal rerun, I'd be fine with them losing the last hour of the block.
Also, keep in mind Aniplex paid Toonami to air SAO at 2:30 in 2013. It can happen if the other rights holders would play ball
I had a dream where every Saturday night I tuned in to a mediocre anime block no matter how shitty it got and the guy running it refused to listen to fan input.
Dreams can be scary
>we might finally get our Watanabe Power Hour & A Half
>wanting an hour and a half of a three and a half hour block to be occupied by reruns
I really can't understand the level of autism needed for someone to want Toonami to air the exact same shows for eternity
>just cast a line and reel 'em in, no bait required
Good Grief, i know i shouldn't shitpost but i want to so bad.
Marathons are fine for the shorter shows since it allows catchups for those who might have missed an episode or two.
As nice as it would be to skip filler, it's not the choice of AS, FUNI, or Viz.
Plenty of people like One Piece, speak for yourself
>PSG (just get it over with so people stop bitching)
>weekday long-running shonen block with OP, Naruto, DBZ, DB, Yu Yu Hakusho, Bleach
>more genre variety
it means youre on the wrong train my friend
Toonami has almost no negotiating power. The incentive for companies to sell broadcast licenses is partly the upfront fee but also potential merchandise sales. AoT for example likely increased sales of show-related shit and the manga a bit. In OP's case Americans already don't give a shit so there's no reason for Viz to compromise.
>no jokes allowed
I really do like K-On! a lot though.
I agree they're both terrible.
Toonami? No. They just get what they can while OCCASSIONALLY performing virgin sacrifices for actual new stuff.
Funi and Viz likely can't either, they are only licensors, and the only reason One Piece got to start where it did was because the UK airings had pretty much reached the point we started at. Even then, Toei likely doesn't want them starting at just any point without some say
>tfw no Esdeath in the last episode, except for that 1 minute flashback
if they had a weekday/weeknight thing with all the long runner shows, that'd be perfect.
have Saturday night be the more niche type shows.
oh and have Cartoon Network canada start airing these shows, get Toonami block up here.
>Bunch of autistic NEETs arguing about reruns
So... what are they gonna replace AgK with?
The Parasyte one fit well since it was 1-7, the rest fit like shit since they are a random sampling of episodes. The ratings reflect this. M&H was boring as shit the first time, so having to drudge through it twice was pretty painful
This would kill Toonami honestly. Right now the lineup is shit, but it's once per week so it feels kind of special. Making it a daily thing makes it feel like a chore, and at that point makes streaming anytime seem more favorable
Only really because of the poor selection of shows. A daily thing could work with a stronger lineup, considering the whole thing originally was a daily thing before becoming once a week
Why did your mom let you on the PC today? Take your meds and go play 5 nights at freddy's for like the 500th time goddamnit.
I don't want to live in this horrid world then
It's more than just "we don't have the cash", anon. DeMarco hasn't exactly made it any kind of secret that he only barely cares about the block's existence. Granted, just taking the risk for a better block wouldn't be enough, but there has to be an interest from the heads as well as the dosh
It could be that I didn't notice, but nevermind then. We'll find out in about three and a half months to see what replaces AgK.
70/30 chance it's something we've seen before. What will replace Parasyte, however, is something new. That's my prediction.
was distracted by best soon to be toonami girl
I used to believe that too. But now...
I think there's a pretty good chance of it being this actually
I will give you something, you are persistent. We'll see. One of the -gatari shows would be interesting, but the first one was devoid of action and a lot of shit you have to freeze the screen to read.
Today is just not my day.
"moe" is fine. If the writing is good. Azumanga Daioh and Nichijou are among my favorite comedies of all time. Stuff like K-on and lucky star though are just too damned inane for my tastes. Hell I dropped Kill me baby because after like 6 episodes they only redid the same damn jokes over and over again. Cute can only go so far. Its not anything sustaining for a series.
>They need Toonami to survive!
They stream their catalog on their website, some on Netflix and Hulu, and I think on Crunchyroll too. They also sell DVDs and do other things in case of wasn't apparent
If it's the Kyoto OVAs then there's a different cast because it's newer. If it's the dub where Richard Hayworth is Kenshin but called Kenji then it's the Samurai X version that Sony tried to get going in the states and failed. It would air in other countries though. Media Blasters later dubbed the series again with largely the same cast but in different roles (Lex Lang was Sanosuke in the MB version, but was Seijuro in the Sony version for example)
I lived in England for 5-6 years when I was younger so that's the version i'm familiar with.
The woman who was Misao in the MB version was Kaoru in the Sony version, Richard Epcar was Raijuta in both versions but where as he was also Heiko in the MB version (in the Sony one he was Hanya). Kirk Thornton who was Saito in the MB version was Kanryu Takeda in the Sony one.
Looking back on the Sony one it really wasn't well cast, plus their terminology was fucked
>Instead of Tokyo they live in Kyoto, can't remember how that handled the kyoto arc
>Kenshin is referred to as Kenji
>Sanosuke is pronounced "Sanzuki", his moniker on the streets "Zamza" is derived from "where he came from" instead of the bigass sword he initially used
>The Oniwabanshu is referred as the "Oni Syndicate", the MB version used "Oniwaban Group" instead
>The Shinsengumi is called "The Shinsen Group"
Shit was not great
>toonami airs Psycho Pass
>/toonamigeneral/ snarks about the gore and cyberpunk, while /lit/ joins in to Stirnerpost about the book references
>all in all good times are had
>toonami airs S2
>the general hits SAO levels of shitposting within a few episodes, by the time the house burns down while opera plays everyone's Crime Coefficient spikes from laughter
I don't get why Mika gets so much hate. We would all want to believe that we would be able to stand up to the system when the government is the one who holds all the cards. She just did what she had to do to survive.
It's largely because her dislike of Akane is really inexplicable. Like, just out of nowhere, for no real reason, her major motivation is having it out for her. There was a scene in S2 where she was writing a report and she just abruptly goes "therefore Akane should be fired."
On a larger note it sucks because S1 was very clearly leading into going full-tilt with Sibyl; the show did its cop-show evolution from dealing with random crooks to dealing with one
big guybehind it all to dealing with the system itself, but nothing came of it since S2 just gave us a shittier guy to chase down and the movie was one of those anime movies detached from the main series.
>tfw there will never be a SWAT-like Psycho Pass game
I remember liking Lucky Star after the first 4 episodes, but that's probably just teenage me wanting to fuck Konata.
Well in that case the board will probably collapse in on itself come this scene: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-veaw0U3FE
Scene is technically spoilers but like it fucking matters.
>but that's probably just teenage me wanting to fuck Konata.
me too except I was 23
>read Black Cat in middle school
>feel weirdly attracted to Eve, who's canonically 11
>essentially slap myself and wonder what's wrong with me
How innocent I was.
anime is a wonderful thing
>Tfw in 3 years of posting here I haven't contributed a single thing besides shitposts, bait and forced memes
What exactly are they doing, especially that huge drop at the start of last year? I know we complain about them a lot in the generals, but I haven't been keeping up with the dubbing industry.
As far as I know Crispin Freeman and Johnny Yong Bosch are still big names.
Sounds like business as usual
They treat their employees like shit for one thing, the current CEO has no concept of what anime viewers actually want, and to top all that off they were hemorrhaging money anyways
A lesser issue but one nonetheless is their unwillingness to cooperate with Toonami. It's effortless money and free advertising and they won't have any of it
I feel like they've gone to shit ever since they started to simul dub. A lot of their simul dubs sound god awful and they keep picking the worst shows to do them. Oh, and the whole Prison School GG dub reference didn't help either.
>people screaming EDGE every time AGK did a thing
>people looking for the slightest reason to scream EDGE at whatever parasyte did
Everything's seemed to calm down though...
That would be my prime example regarding being out of touch with your main demographic
Simuldubs were a neat concept, but honestly in practice they are a disaster. They work as a sometimes thing, not an always thing
I agree with you, and look at the shows they pick to simuldub.
Just why? I can understand a few shows but not this many.
Impossible when it has best girl
I guess they did a scatter shot approach, grabbing whatever show in case it explodes like AoT or whatever. Then they can be proactive about it, which leads to blu-ray sales and profits or whatever.
>Ultimate Otaku Teacher
>Sky Wizards Academy
While the subs vs dubs thing isn't quite as intense as it used to be, the people who are watching those shows are torrenting fansubs or something.
Sailor Moon is an absolute yes desu. The original cut is practically a completely different show from what was shown on old Toonami, to the point that it actually being shown on American TV would be a huge deal and really needs public exposure. If you can show something like M&H then a new dub of the original version of a show that's already aired on the classic block is a no brainer.
best girl deserves another go at a series
But last I heard Agiri's VA is now doing modeling gigs.
>But last I heard Agiri's VA is now doing modeling gigs.
Who cares about Agiri when we have wonderful Yasuna? She's fine
