>Ocelot just wants so badly to be cool.
Is AZ the best gaming comic that is regularly updating?
>you will never take place in a devil's threesome with Katie and Ronnie
I have the sad
The world needs more Metal Gear comics.
Her MGS3 comics recently have all been gold.
The funny hting about her comics is that they become double funny if you've actually played the game, a rarity among gaming webcomics. They usually rely on non-game humor like "lol mario drugs".
I just started playing that game recently and the conversations with Para-medic are funny as hell. Snake reminds me of Lyos from Dungeon Menshi.
Almost all of the conversations were great. I loved the one with Sigint about he mask
>That mask is some of my best work! It's the only mask in the world that can blink!
>But I can't move my mouth.
>When I talk, the mouth doesn't move.
>....I don't understand.
>The comic during the whole paid mod fiasco was embarrassing
which one? The paid mods fiasco was in april but I'm not seeing any comics from around then that have anything to do with it.
>And it never runs out of ammo?
>Because the internal feed mechanism is shaped like an infinity symbol
>Ooooh, I get it. Yep, that'll give you unlimited ammo.
care to point me to any better gaming webcomics then?
Most of this boils down to "what if we apply gaming logic to real life". Incredibly easy.
>She's actually a rocket scientist.
What does that have to do with this? At least it explains why the comics tend to be so formulaic.
There are none because gaming webcomics were never good.
Personally, I liked it just fine. That's why I'm still holding a torch for the series.
It's gradually become more of a problem and makes localizing odd. See: that game completely set in feudal japan, and chapter 2 of DD.
There's some big, infamous explanation for making it California though if you google for it.
It's an alternative reality where the Axis won the war. That's why LA is completely Japanese. That's why German prosecutors have absolute authority in the American court systems. It's why the court systems in general are nightmarishly fascistic.
The funniest part is imagining someone actually taking a shot like that in a Metal Gear game.
her archive page lists what game each comic is about just fyi
I love New Vegas but god damn that game has some issues with the amount of time spent on looting and inventory management.
This one's literally me, but with Victini instead of Snivy.
And also I think I lost.
That is so funny that you deserve a burger. Just don't ask what is in it.
You can go and ask herself on twitter if you don't believe me, champ.
Also I think shitposters would simply call you a retard.
M'kay, so? I couldn't give a flying fuck what an artists political views are so long as they don't use their work as a blatant soap box. Shunning someone because they said something on another medium you disagree with is the kind of petty bullshit SJW's do. I'm above that, and so should you.
>not something that tries to be faithful, but horribly butchers it
I'm not the guy you were talking to, I just felt like commenting on your post because this is an anonymous imageboard where no conversation is private.
Also you're a total and utter twat.
Um, sure? I've been reading AZ for years and I've never really noticed anything political about them.
If you want to prove your point and present an AZ strip that reads like Sinfest I'll concede.
Because smart people hates other smart people, also I imagine that it has something to do with one field thinking it's more legit then the other and clashing of fields where one field say it's right in one theory while another field says they are wrong
Buddy did you even read my posts? I was mocking the fact so many screamed "KATIE MY WAIFU" while she'd consider their behavior toxic and steer clear from them in a heartbeat.
Katie lives in my city and my city is sorta small so I get to read her twitter and watch her explore this dumb little college town and I want so badly to be like "stop by my pizza place and I'll give you a slice no charge" but that would be creepy.
>I never had a friend, much less a relationship: the post
Good luck getting along or even fuck someone who sees politics in everything while you call people names and masturbate to cartoon porn.
No thanks buddy, I'll stick to the people who don't see racism and sexism in their cereals.
> I mentioned how shiny Pokemon are much easier to get now, from the combination of a higher encounter rate, chain fishing, horde battles, and even an item that increases your chance of finding one.
>I've been playing Pokemon obsessively since before shiny Pokemon were even a thing, and I hadn't seen one until X and Y -- and now that I finally do have one, they seem like less of an exciting achievement.
>Also, Norrin will never let me forget that he only recently got back into playing Pokemon and has already found three times as many shinies as I have. WILL THE INJUSTICES NEVER END
Just say you enjoy the comic and she's welcome to get a slice. Don't make a big deal out of it
Also, make it one time only, it's weird to give lots of pizza away for free, just because of a comic
You know anon, it's just an image, not a political statement.
>I met Katie at a con two years ago. She's really nice. She signed the print I bought for free.
Well the thing about AZ in general is you can tell it's just her doing it out of love when she's not busy doing rocket science.
so there's no soap boxing, no pushing this. It's just a girl who likes games and wants to say HEY GAMES ARE FUN.
She treats it with the proper level of seriousness unlike all those other faggots who think that video games need to be their whole universe
shadowrun has had installing virtual personalities in your gun for near a decade now.
your gun can be your waifu. The page that introduces this literally has a sniper with a virtual brown elf teenager AI in his gun.
>that bit at the end where he travels into metal gear 2
Don't let Norrin in find out
Fun fact. 99% of the game comic ideas Katie has are from a single AZ forumite name Omnithea who LIVES in the comic suggestion thread. She doesn't even write her own material unless it's about her life. Also one time Norrin wrote a bloody Jarate comic and tried to take credit for the idea.
We're going to need another Katie
He should have been crazier or meaner in MGSV. The worst thing he did in that was want to put the screws to Eli.
Awkward Zombie as a comic is mediocre at best. I used to wonder why it was one of the few comics people don't flame to shit even though it's hardly ever funny.
Then I realized people only like it because Katie is one of those rare people who isn't a complete shit and actually likes video games.
Because we are all competing for the same small pot of gold.
People will go 'my field is X science is way more legit than his field of Z science, so give me the grant money!' And if you don't play along you have no chance of money and jobs, so you play along.
not him but the inventory system is still the same from Fallout 3, by Bethesda. Obsidian essentially built giant maps, new equipment assests, rendered a few new monster models, and tweaked some of the existing features while adding a bit more. They were essentially a super mod team
I think part of the reason I didn't get it was that it the Mario Kart games seem to treat Baby Mario (and other babies) as a separate character; so I subconsiously considered him a separate entity.
>that one chapter in Fire Emble: the sacred stones where you recruit Duessel
>you beat the level by holding out a set number of turns
>there is a boss though
>if you attack him he actually leaves the base
>he's a ranger and has ridiculous move
>kills half of my fucking army
well that's the best thing about their shitty engine; almost anyone can stroll in and make shit better. Still should have taken the money to develop a new engine for 4 but that's another complaint
So someone explain to me how the Penny Arcade guys can't make comics about video games anymore because they have kids, but Katie can become a nuclear engineer and still put out funny comics about games?
I have played and completed every Pokemon game since yellow during release, I never used guides or the internet because I personally believe its one of the few series that should be enjoyed without them.
I only just found out about existence of shinys 2 months ago.
oh man, the only time I ever found out about them was finding a shiny Natu in Gold out of the blue. Either I accidentally switched it off before saving or I let it get away, I forget which, but I spent hours subsequently in that tiny patch of grass in ruins of Alph trying to find that same Natu. Never found another shiny in my life as far as I'm aware.
Me too, thought it was just a one of a kind, a fixed part of the game story.
Yeah, look at that retard wearing... wait, that is a drawing, there is no one in there wearing actual clothing. It could be drawn wearing clown clothes and it wouldn't mean absolutely anything. You're just a faggot.
>Got a shiny butterfree back in silver
>couldn't transfer it
>took until Black to get my next shiny pokemon
>I have at least 10 of them now
I got exactly one shiny without all those brand new not-quite-cheating-but-almost techniques. It's a Lunatone so completely useless, but I'm still happy.
Anyway, here's a comic about the internet being a bitch.
Her original writing is kind of shit tier to okay tier, but I really like her art and colors on that. She really, really should have partnered with someone to act as the writer and leave her just the art.
Gamer, rocket scientist which probably pays big bucks, doesn't pander to SJW that most web comic artists do today, she got her life sorted out.
Wonder what her children going to be like if she has any, probably better than how David Willis' will probably turn out.
And with the advent of 'weak' AIs vs the Deus sort, you can have an AI PC or NPC in your gun. And due to simsense and VR you can meet up with and have a 'physical' relationship. And with the world beginning to react to the CFD outbreak, AI in some locations are being given rights which probably includes marriage.
You can literally waifu an AI who lives in your gun in some municipalities of the UCAS and NAN.
>I now pronounce you man and Ares Alpha. You may jack in to kiss the bride.
Which makes this comic more funnier when you think about it.
This thread is now full of people desperately in denial that some profession members are smarter than others, and all jobs are equal. Fuck you guys, I MAKE intelligence, you book-learning phoneys can get the hell out!
>you will never brustle Ronnie
WHY EVEN LIVE?
Any excuse for Buff Samus is a good excuse.
Have you seen the suggestions she gets? All of the ones I've seen were pretty far removed from the final product, so Katie obviously doesn't just take ideas from other people and uses them verbatim.
Also, assuming that all of the comics that she gets from suggestions say so in the description (which I think is a safe assumption) the percentage is probably closer to 10% than 99%.
He should have been in the field at some point, or at least done more with the torture. When he had Huey and the syringe in his hand, I thought he was gonna fuck shit up. But he just talked in the same tone and poked him.
Because to get anywhere in science you have to make a choice on a path to follow early in life and stick to it. Being proud of the path you took helps with the crippling idea that you might have taken the wrong one.
Yeah, you never saw Huey nearly get electric shock tortured to death to death.
What the fuck is a SHINY and why do people want them so bad?
It better just not be the same shit but with sparkles coming off it
It's a differently colored pokemon.
Basically just super rare with no changes to anything else and anyone who actually hunts for them is retarded.
Finding one always feels great... until you find 30 of them or literally everyone else has one, like it is currently.
>Huey doesn't know what happened to Strangelove
He locked her in there. It couldn't be opened from the inside, not the outside. I mean shit that next part directly contradicts itself.
Wait, is this bait? Fuck.
Actually, Shiny pokemon develop IVs and EVs faster then normal pokemon and have slightly above average stats.
A level 50 pokemon leveled correctly vs a level 40 shiny pokemon of the same species, type, and disposition, would be evenly matched!
>shiny pokemon have different stats than any other random pokemon of that type
unless they suddenly changed this for Omega and Alpha
Also, you can't develop IVs.
They don't make them like they used to.
Archers in fire emblem don't have a melee attack. So you can just surround them with your dudes at melee range and they won't be able to retaliate, or move at all.
Apparently Katie did this to then have a low level character kill the higher level archer risk-free for easy EXP.
In most games archers can only attack 2 squares away on the grid
So you can just have four guys hug one and he'll be completely stuck (since units can only pass through their allies)
Dude is an archer built for long range combat, everyone has positioned themselves one tile away from him. In the next turn dude will be horribly slaughtered with no way to fight back in close quarters. (I've never played fire emblem either)
Archers in most FE games (with Gaiden, Path of Radiance, Radiant Dawn, and Fates being the exceptions) are infamous in their disadvantage for bows only having 2 square tile range, therefore leaving them unable to attack or attack back enemies at adjacent square tiles.
Here Katie demonstrates trapping an enemy archer in one square who's unable to do anything.
I'm a sucker for comics that make fun of game mechanics.
It just becomes increasingly hard to deal with as the games go on and become progressively more Japanese. Like, in Dual Destinies, that whole thing with the demon and the yokai thing holy shit. You could almost see the translators wanting to strangle whoever decided that these games had to be set in America and trying to twist the pretzel around it.
That's sorta-kinda true in gen 2, where Shiny Pokemon would always have an IV spread of 11 in every stat (out of 16, IIRC), so Shiny Pokemon were above average. It isn't true in any other generation.
Ah the Smash Mansion. I remember reading so many fanfictions trying to justify Super Smash Brothers, but it almost always comes back to the Smash Mansion.
>Snake is wearing a crocodile
>Ocelot decides to wear ocelots
Katie the joke doesn't connect.
the croc cap is an item you get in the game
>Think nothing of it
>Nah starts judging me for picking Nowi
>My own fucking dragon daughter judges me
>Start over and marry Tiki instead so Nah is never born
I wish there were more jokes about how Metroid is relatively gritty for Nintendo fare.
>I've never played Fire Emblem. I don't get it.
Mia is cute.
he's nervous about asking her out in front of her friends
well thast the pot calling the kettle black
Kay best girl
Yeah, but none of them really seem to have anything to say about the world around them. It's not like when Arcade would give his thoughts about how to distribute the solar power through the Mojave.
It's weird Fox doesn't mention that.
Also, pardon my power level, but Ridley technically killed Samus' parents twice. He killed her adoptive chozo parents too. He's a bit of bastard.
I kind of wish Rare was still Nintendo just so I could see AZ do something with perfect dark and banjo kazooie
Practically the only non Nintendo series AZ does stuff with is MGS and even then Snake was in Smash so that probably helped i dunno
The other anon is right that amputee airpilots are slightly better at handling G-forces, but I don't think the difference is significant enough that anyone has ever done so willingly.
It's a real thing explained stupidly. Vertical g-forces cause you to black out because blood rushes away from your head and to your feet. Pilots can partially mitigate this by having very tight boots.
SNES Star Fox box art shows fox with metallic, apparently amputated legs. Combine these two facts and you get what anon was talking about. It's not really canon, considering he's been shown with full legs though.
Pretty sure popular opinion is that, if it was ever entirely canon in the first place (wasn't it only brought up in an American Nintendo Power comic for the original Star Fox or something?), 64 retconned that via the addition of the G-Diffusers in the Arwings.
In the Japanese version, the very first puzzle of the game involves a guy getting killed with a statue of liberty clock. It's mentioned that the victim just got back from an overseas trip. In order to solve the case, you need to put 2 and 2 together and recognize that the Statue of Liberty clock was a souvenir from that trip, so the time displayed was still set for America time (one of the witnesses claimed to have seen the time on the clock during the murder, so you need to figure out that fact in order to disprove his testimony).
In the US, they were afraid people wouldn't realize the game didn't take place in America and it would render that whole puzzle more obtuse than it was meant to be. They ended up changing the setting to America and changing the clock to the Tower of Pisa to imply that it was a souvenir from France. Then the French version had to change it to a Japanese landmark because the Tower of Pisa caused the same problem there.
It was like a puzzle designed specifically to fuck with localization.
>They ended up changing the setting to America and changing the clock to the Tower of Pisa to imply that it was a souvenir from France.
The statue is The Thinker. Are you pulling this out of your ass? Or do you make the mistake of taking /v/ seriously?
The script felt stiff and translationese-y even in the early episodes and characters like Edgeworth, Gumshoe, and Kay lacked a distinctive voice in their dialogue. Although imo I think Alexander O' Smith is the only translator for the series who really knows how to that off.
can some anon tell me what artwork the mask is referencing? all i can see right now is trevor goodchild from aeon flux, but i'm sure it's referring to some well known painting or something. maybe one of van gogh's portraits of his doctors...?
I started playing pokemon with Emerald. I caught my first wild shiny in White.
Since that time, I have replayed every game I own at least once: each time I replay a game, I fond between 1 and 3 shinies. I have no fucking idea why. My current play through of HG has a Shiny Machop, which I've turned into a shiny Machamp, and a shiny mareep, who is on his way to becoming a shiny ampharos.
All I can say for certain is: on subsequent play throughs, particularly if you grind a lot of levels, you have improved odds of finding a shiny.
Actual painting is "uncanny valley" with TF2's universe, and is a terrible disguise?
Spy is too good at painting that his disguises are bad, again because it's "uncanny valley" in TF2 land?
something along those lines?
I've only ever found two shinies. The first was a magikarp, which made me feel happy for about half a minute before sinking into THAT realisation. The second was a Feebas (in emeral, too), though, and that made up for it.
Feebas is an awesome shiny.
My favorite is a shiny Arcaeops, which I had to breed.
Lots of time I spent on a stationary bike, peddling not in game and out of game, hatching all those eggs.
>coat that goes below your waist = school shooter coat
shouldn't you be posting memes on twitter about how racist white people are yet you treat them with the same stereotypes that are just as offensive as "all black people commit crimes" but whites can't say that's racist or be offended because society just says "check your privilege".
>caring about wild shinies
Pokemon is a chore and I'm glad I stopped playing.
At least Scolipede is fucking boss. Good for you Katie.
ah yes, being exposed to characters pre-import. So many wrong assumptions
Lucario is in Smash Bros Brawl. Also, such a long fanfic has to have a tenuous relationship to the source material.
Except Dungeon Keeper Ami, which still seems pretty faithful to Sailor Moon as far as I can tell.
