Well holy fucking shit did we get a bombshell of an announcement today. Look at all these books, look at all these fucking books:
Now, let's talk about what new titles and new creative teams we're excited for. Me, I'll definitely be giving these books a shot:
>Bat-Mite (6-issue limited)
W: Dan Jurgens, A: Corin Howell
>Bizarro (6-issue limited)
W: Heath Corson, A: Gustavo Duarte
>Constantine: The Hellblazer
W: Ming Doyle, A: Riley Rossmo
W: Paul Levitz, A: Sonny Liew
>Justice League of America
W/A: Bryan Hitch
>Justice League 3001
W: Keith Giffen & J.M. DeMatteis, A: Howard Porter
W: Rob Williams, A: Ben Oliver
W: Steve Orlando, A: ACO
W: Tom King, A: Alec Morgan
W: Mark Russell, A: Ben Caldwell
>Section Eight (6-issue limited)
W: Garth Ennis, A: John McCrea
W: Ben Percy, A: Zircher
Some of the other books, like Mystic U, Dark Universe, Batman Beyond and the like sound like they could be neat, but I need a bit more info on 'em first. All-in-all, this is shaping up to be pretty fucking awesome, in my opinion. The only major misstep I can see is more Wilson on Earth-2, and while that really fucking sucks, there's so much more neat stuff to make up for that.
So, /co/, what're you looking forward to?
Well I'm lucking forward to OH GOD I'M GETTING A DOG WELDED TO MY FACE THAT GUY JUST WELDED A DOG TO MY FACE WHAT THE FUUUUUUUCK
>Riley Rossmo on a magic book
this is going to be good
for me its...
>Justice League 3001
the hype-train has no breaks
cover looks interesting
>Robin, Son of Batman
more Damian, yay
hopefully this team will be better than the current one
>New Suicide Squad
>cover looks interesting
I'm almost certain that the art for that Omega Men shot is just taken from the Adam Strange: Planet Heist mini, or one of the Rann/Thanagar follow-ups.
The writer was the dude who did the JPL-drawn two-parter in Detective Comics a little bit ago. It was extremely solid, so there's absolutely room for hope.
And HOLY FUCKING SHIT Carlos D'Anda's stuff is going to make Suicide Squad so fucking worth it. Ryan's writing has been very steadily improving, and now with the promise of actually good art? I genuinely believe this could be the best Suicide Squad since Ostrander. Not saying much, but I'm pretty hype now.
Artist isn't half bad either.
Unless I'm mistaking things, is it just me or are almost all of these artists pretty damn good? And not very 'house' either.
I never expected this. God bless you, DC.
Between this, PG getting handed back to people who actually know how to write her the best way, Lemire getting yanked off JLU, Prez, and Black Canary, I am really fucking excited.
Hopefully this is Gray, Palmiotti and Conner laying the groundwork for a brand new goofy PG ongoing if it sells well.
bring back Atlee please
That was after "Wildstorm days", when Ellis came to the publisher. The reason they look like their archetypes is because they were designed by a dimension hopping mad scientist that wanted a superhero team of his own, character-wise, they're nothing alike.
>>cover looks interesting
>I'm almost certain that the art for that Omega Men shot is just taken from the Adam Strange: Planet Heist mini, or one of the Rann/Thanagar follow-ups.
It is. I'm so fucking hype for it.
I find it funny that whenever DC does any sort of shake-up, people scream reboot. Yet when Marvel literally outlines their plan to reboot, people somehow argue that they aren't because reasons?
Hey, man. These trouble yoofs need money fo' dem programs and shit.
>Black Canary -- W: Brenden Fletcher, A: Annie Wu & Irene Koh
...I...I.... hold me, I'm getting the vapors
What a shame that Barbara burned down the dojo with all her stuff, what a shame.
Now that I can breath again, let's look at the rest of the list to see what's worth keeping/checking out...
Bizarro (6-issue limited) -- W: Heath Corson, A: Gustavo Duarte
Black Canary -- W: Brenden Fletcher, A: Annie Wu & Irene Koh
Dark Universe -- W: James Tynion IV, A: Ming Doyle

Green Arrow -- W: Ben Percy, A: Zircher
Justice League United -- W:Stay tuned for creative team info!, A:
Secret Six -- W: Gail Simone, A: Dale Eaglesham
Earth 2: Society's gonna be a trainwreck, isn't it?
No JL3001 for me
because I still haven't read 3000
I can see this being a kind of real-world kind of story, where regular people inspired by superheroics take up their own pallets and walk.
So yeah, Robin, Inc. Might be cool, but we'll have to wait and see.
>getting a popular artist to also write
could it be good? All the other books by DC that have a popular artist also doing the writing have turned out pretty badly but how will Gleason fair? Also does Damien still have his super powers?
I want to be excited for Prez but given no one has heard shit all about the creative team I am very hesitant
unless the writer really is that 82 year old political humorist in which case I am really worried it will be out of touch
I'm definitely looking forward to
Tentatively interested in
GL Lost Army
Yang on Superman
Kill it with fire:
Earth 2 Society
Only one total stinker out of 24 books is fucking incredible
I've noticed Justin Gray hasn't been working with Palmiotti on any of these. I wonder if he was the balancer for Power Girl's book, and why Harley Quinn seems like such a trainwreck.
DC's news article has him as part of the writing team on HQ/PG. Let's hope that's true, because I think you're definitely right about his absence hurting Palmiotti and Conner's writing.
I mean I'll give it a try since I've been enjoying Aquaman, and I do love McCarthy's art, but Bunn's previous works have burned me in the past. So I'm iffy, even if Sinestro has been generally well-received around here.
>@robertvenditti: You get a big hint of what the new direction for GL is in #40. As for the other titles, I’m not sure.
Well hopefully that means the GL books are easing off the crossovers for a while
Something is very fishy about NuBo. His original pitch for the project was NuBo and Lobo going on Odd Couple adventures in space, and I'd read the fucking hell out of that. I'd not be surprised if NuBo was heavily editorially driven.
It looks like Son of Batman is going to replace B&R with Damian going on his own. Kind of weird that Tomasi isn't on writing duties, unless there was a similar flub like with JL3001. Maybe he'll be on it later since dual duties is hard to do.
I doubt any of these new titles will make it past 8-12 issues, and most of them seem like total shit. How is this any different than when DC made the new 52 line and had a "diverse" selection of titles that were all cancelled and replaced with Batman and Superman books?
Section 8 is going to be that title that reminds everyone of how full of shit /co/ is. The vocal minority that keeps shouting about how it's retarded DC doesn't give this or that a title will get blown the fuck out when it debuts at under 20 k and by the third issue will sell under 10k proving once again that the loudest people are also the dumbest most inefficient unimportant spineless fucks. >muhh cult classic
>Martian Manhunter ongoing
I've been waiting for this since day one. It's Williams any good?
Good point there dipshit, do you have anything to actually say about what I posted, or just the usual brainless defense of "it's a shitpost, duh". You might be OK with eating whatever DC pushes out of their ass and serves to you on a plate, but I'm getting tired of these constant reboots of garbage titles that aren't going to be around for more than a handful of issues.
I'm pretty psyched for the revamped Constantine/Hellblazer, Black Canary, Martian Manhunter and a new creative team on Green Arrow. Too bad they still haven't fixed Flash. Bizzarro looks neat too.
Here's hoping Dark Universe is going to be something like a magic/supernatural anthology about Zatanna, Swamp Thing, Etrigan, Deadman, etc.
Does art they posted for Bizarro make anyone else think he looks like he just stepped out of an Akira Toriyama comic?
I had to google a lot of these people. Some of the artist look real damn good. Disappointed that Mahnke is still being wasted on Superman/Wonder Woman instead of doing Shazam with Johns. I would've liked some Ian Bertram. And Jesus Saiz and Javi Pina are doing some GL mini and I haven't read GL since Lights out...And I was holding out more hope for some dark line titles. And no Kamandi(probably for the better, E-51 looks amazing but I don'tr trust many to do a good job). Some Demon would've been cool. Deadman. Still, a great line up where 3/4 of the titles look good, something I've never seen from a publisher so big like the big two do.
Haven't read that much from him but he's always just mediocre. And he's been in the business for a long time now. Maybe this will be his one hit wonder. Digging the art. And J'onn is awesome.
>Here's hoping Dark Universe is going to be something like a magic/supernatural anthology
Would be for the best. I like all those characters but they work better solo than in a team.
Not him, most of the New 52 books that got curbstomped ASAP were well out of the superherocentric story publisher's wheelhouse, and most of the ones that looked to have good creative teams stayed around much longer than I think most of us thought they would. Yes, there are definitely some out there choices within this new swath of books, but many of them are minis, and most of them have a decent to good sounding creative team associated with them. On top of that, Most of the New 52 screamed 90's from their initial solicitations, and these are all over the place, and despite the fact that /co/ bursts an artery in it's eye every time it thinks about Batgirl, it is doing well, and is actually showing how to successfully develop a new audience. A lot of these new books feel very much in that same vein, as opposed to "female writer of a female character even though it will essentially feel just like every other book you have no interest in reading" which is what most of the outreach titles within the original New 52 really felt like.
>We swear guys, Berganza has this new continuity down on lock OHMYGOD WHY DIDN'T WE REMEMBER HALF OF THIS SHIT?!
I don't mind responding to bait. It gives me a nice opportunity to have a debate with my own skepticism. Doing so also takes the legitimacy of any claims that no one is providing real responses out from underneath shitposters. Then it goes from being circumstantial seeming bait to confirmed bait. Then everyone can just pic related and move on.
You spend your time writing out long responses to people that use buzwords and just say "this is bad" without elaborating. You could instead have a conversation with other people open to it, but instead you feed the shitposters. And it's not like he put any effort into it either, he just shat out words with no real weight or actual meaning when talking about the subject at hand.
A couple of limited series (Batmite, HQ/PG), a couple soft relaunching things already happening (Beyond might as well be carryover from FE, B&R to just R), Canary potentially filling the Birds of Prey void, and We Are Robins making a truly new addition, don't try to pretend Red Hood/Arsenal is a Bat-book (I'm being generous calling the HQ/PG teamup one), plus Arkham Manor ending its limited run
I have 9 open tabs at the moment, anon. I jump all over the place. Most of the time, I'd like to believe that I do have conversations with other people open to new things. Today for example, I've spent most of the morning responding to anons who have expressed excitement for books, and concern for others specifically. Realistically, I have only responded to two generally THIS IS 100% BAD posts. One accused this of appealing to tumblr, and the other was the one you saw. You don't get to enjoy the good without stepping on some dog shit every so often though anon. Plus as I said, a lot of times, those shitposters say things the worst part of my own skepticism lets run wild in my own head, so they do me a favor by giving me an opportunity to shut that skepticism up.
>drone buttblasted that sekrit wurs won't fix anything wrong with his universe
>They are splitting up the Outlaws by having Starfire go solo
No I don't like it
but Lobdell's Kory has been fun. one minute dhe's a space barbarian, the next she's git more swag than lady gaga and in the between she's a space pirate captain, when she's not busy kicking nukes
>There are some huge changes in store for the DC Universe this summer, and DC All Access has the lowdown. After this morning's big comic announcement, we list off the eight new and returning summer titles you absolutely cannot miss. So which one has you counting the days till June?
>sinestro survived the green lantern purge
Can't stall the Thrall.
>Does art they posted for Bizarro make anyone else think he looks like he just stepped out of an Akira Toriyama comic?
Holy shit, it does. We'll get Goku vs Superman any day now!
Forgive my autism, but
>Thall, not Thrall
>Ring on ring finger, not on middle finger
This has always rustled my jimmies. Yeah, I get it; wedding rings typically go on the ring finger, hence the name. But they're not wedding rings. They're supposed to be on the middle finger.
You can put a ring on any damn finger you want, and anyway, maybe Sinestro just wants niggas to stop hitting on him
because it's pointless
Thank you, here is a fixed version for your autism.
>Harley Quinn/Power Girl
>writers of Peeg's best run
>combined with art by master of cheesecake (pic related)
Hells fucking YES.
I'm sad to see Peter Tomasi leave Batman and Robin (and the name change to Robin, Son of Batman, but I've always enjoyed Patrick Gleason's art, so it'll be interesting to see how he handles writing it as well)
> hitch on JLA
oh boy another big name artist getting to write, i'm sure that will go well
> tony daniel
> david finch
> rob liefeld
> ethan van sciver
> francis manapul
> dan jurgens
>listing Manapul with Finch, Liefeld, Daniel and Jurgens
I'll get the torches and pitchforks and join you in that.
>gaining Gleasons Robin, Son of Batman
>Harly/PG by Graymiotti Conner
>Starfire by Palmiotti Conner
I'm gonna check those out, also hope the new guys on Aquaman are good.
Broteam up book might be fun, will probably go back and check and see why starfire left the crew
Considering the horror shit Gleason drew in the most recent B&R I'm entirely excited if Damian becomes the supernatural, monster huntin Robin.
Although now I'll just want a new Batman/Hellboy crossover even more, Heir to the Demon meets Son of the Devil.
And New 52 Carrie Kelley, but that was killed a long time ago.
That's fucking rad and all, but at that point, why call him Robin anymore? The fucker can fly now, he should be hanging with Superman or something. Fucking around with Klarion, I don't know.
He seems to be doing okay in Batman Eternal, but still kind of off to the side.
I blame Grant Morrison for sidelining Tim as soon as he brought Damian in. At least when Tim came in, Jason was dead and Dick was Nightwingin' it up. When Damian came in, Morrison dropped him for his pet character.
Not that Damian hasn't grown on me, but the 90s hammered in that TIM would be the one to inherit the mantle.
So, /co/, we're getting a slaughter of cancelled titles in April (NINETEEN plus the three weeklies) only to get 20 new ones + 4 minis in June.
I'd say it's a great deal, but let's take a moment to remember the ones we lost. Except for JL3K which might as well be unaffected, RHatO which is still Lobdell and only loses Kori, what are the books that you're going to miss the most?
>Aquaman and the Others
>Batman And Robin
>Green Lantern Corps
>Green Lantern: New Guardians
>Infinity Man and the Forever People
>Justice League 3000
>Justice League Dark
>Red Hood And The Outlaws
>Star-Spangled War Stories Featuring G.I. Zombie
>Trinity of Sin
I liked what Manapul did with it, but it doesn't look good when a lot of other artists try to do it. It also doesn't seem to work on action figures.
that goes for most toys. I'm so picky that I only own four DC figures, Mr. Miracle, Big Barda and from the new BTAS line (the new adventures version)Batman and Two-Face action figures
The DC Universe Classics line by Mattel is infamous for it's reusing of buck bodies and parts, but is pretty good for getting lots of characters in a cost-effective manner. And some genuinely look pretty good, even with the same-y-ness.
The new DC Collectibles stuff is great, though. Given more time they might be the definitive DC figures. I really wish that Frankenstein had won that fan poll rather than Poison Ivy.
Thank god. I despised those fucking lines
I'd buy 2 copies of every issue.
I'd be just glad of Robin doing supernatural shit with various DCU characters, but if he gets Kate asa regular I'd be so happy.
Bonus points if he calls her "auntie" to piss her off
>Golden Age DC still in the hands of a bunch of literally who creators
>Paul Levitz is still boring as fuck
If only Robinson hadn't been a fucking pussy in front of DC editorial and gone to Marvel to write an Invaders book nobody gives two shits about
There are no completely lesbian women. They always masturbate with phallic objects. Gay dudes never fuck pocket pussies or anything like that. And they say that men are the ones afraid of committment.
....i think that instead of making new comics with old characters, they should make new comics for new characters and later on, if it is successful, try to bring an old character back. Every time a "new" character gets a comic book for himself, it is because he appeared with some other old character somewhere. I think that this is the wrong way to go.
>Supergirl is cancelled
>Wonder Woman is not
>to write an Invaders book nobody gives two shits about
But I do, anon. I really do.
It took me a second to realize that even if embedded here, that wasn't a 4chan post so he's using that wording seriously.
I wish I could get hype about Martian Manhunter.
He's possibly my favourite DC prominent character, but everytime I get excited about him getting some spotlight it's always shit.
And I'm not sure I can trust the Alexandra Ghost Rider guy on a MM series.
I just ignore it at this point. A few of my friends back in TN started a podcast recently, called Giant-Size Man-Things, and one of the comments on their post about this was "same shit, different day" in regards to DC. I responded that Marvel does the same, but at least DC doesn't expect you to pay more for it.
Haters gonna hate and all that.
>Lemire supporting characters being used again
Gleason would ascend to THANK YOU BASED GOD tier if he did something with her even if considerably different than the original, allegedly big, plans Tomasi had.
Going to miss Swamp Thing. Man the only DC comics I'm reading now are Paktion Comics and JL3K. Any other fun DC books? Like whatever happened with that Ben Caldwell Superboy book?
Still no book for Static. With him having a live action show you would he have a new comic book series.
I'm disgusted by comics and haven't read any for a year or so. I don't plan on ever buying any marvel or dc again.
Might download a comic if it's red-pilled otherwise it's garbage. /co/ sucks btw full of strange ppl
>disgusted by comics and doesn't read them anymore
>yet feels compelled to come into a thread discussing current comics and tell us about this
>Might download a comic if it's red-pilled otherwise it's garbage
>DC Comics announces shit ton of new comics. Marvel announces one with powerful, liberated women what don't need no mans.
>Guess which one Facebook informed me of today?
So what's the deal with this new Justice League of America?
I never read the whole previous run, just the Trinity War/Forever Evil tie-ins, but is this going to be the same US-government-lead Justice League? Because obviously the picture in OP has the regular league members, unless it's just an old bit of art.
I am 100% expecting Dr. Fate to be a Klarion situation where everyone writes it off and it ends up being great because a comic with amazing art is 10x more palatable than a well written comic with mediocre/shit art.
Actually I've been seeing people here on /co/ complaining that it took so long for Cyborg to get his own book considering that he was a founding member of the Justice League in this version.
>he was a founding member of the Justice League in this version.
Who asked for THIS?
Its...alright? It pretty much caps off Snyder's run before the Nu52 started, and if you're interested in the history of Gotham, you might get a kick out of it. But the actual central conflict just sorta fell flat, in my opinion.
It's barely a Snyder book, it's a Kyle Higgins book.
The story is meh, there's some cool stuff about Gotham's founding but it ultimately doesn't really go anywhere.
The art is amazing though. Trevor McCarthy on Aquaman will be awesome.
Like everything Snyder writes for Batman: awesome.
I want to read some Transmetropolitan but what should I read first? Figured this was the best place to post this without making a new thread.
I so desperately wanted a weekly. I mean, the way they constantly crossed over the GL line may as well have always been a weekly book, but making it official would have been great, and they fit the format pretty well.
Bunn said he can't talk about Lost Army yet, Jensen said he pitched a thing that didn't work out, and Venditti said GL #40 will indicate GL's direction after Convergence
I really wanna know what lost army is
>Bunn said he can't talk about Lost Army yet
So it's either connected to whatever happens in GL #40, or more likely the Sinestro Annual. Interesting. I'm also curious about Jensen's rejected pitch. Didn't he say he had several more issues planned out?
i was stocked about Prez until i realized it was a woman. an age old character that hasn't had a story since the 90s and even then haven't had one since the 70s gets changed to a girl for no reason. one that kinda looks a little stuck up tbh from that promo art
i hope it fails faster then The Green Team
>Martian Manhunter was black
He was an Asian woman, get it right.
>Prez comes out
>/pol/turds and faggots like this shit post about how its nothing but stealth propaganda to help get Hillary Clinton elected president
I can already see the threads
i wasn't even thinking of that "stealth propaganda" but now that you say thanks for the accidental red pill
but how can you not be disappointed
I'm really fucking excited for a Constantine title written by a Vertigo writer (tired of Fawkes).
Happy for new Batman Beyond.
I think Dark Universe is more JLD so I may give it a shot.
HOLY FUCKING YES DOCTOR FATE TITLE
I'm interested as fuck in Hellblazer, and considering it has the exact same team as Dark Universe, it seems I'm going to need both.
And then there's whatever the hell Mystic U is.
That New Fifty-Screw Superman suit is such shit. And thank God it looks like they've finally stopped drawing all of those extra shitty lines all over The Flash. SUPERMAN NEEDS HIS REAL COSTUME BACK!!!!!
Comics should be ebracive of their "underwear"/shorts, and be damn proud of them! They are iconic and a staple of comic books. They look good on the suits too. They NEED to be there. TRUE Superman and Batman for life!!!!
yes, we're all very proud of you for that wordplay, but this is the second time I've seen you use it today and it's already worn it's welcome. please stop using it.
So almost the classic TRUE JLA lineup but fucking suck ass Teen Titan Cybore instead of Martian Manhunter? Might be worth a read..in spite of the new shitty redesign costumes. I love Bryan Hitch. Wonder how that Martian Manhunter book will be. I wish he could just have his real fucking costume and look too. I hated that blue shit he was wearing back in the Infinite Crisis/52/Countdown days.
Interested in the new Fate series. Does /co/ have a recommended reading list for Dr. Fate?
In a visual driven medium the costumes are not only iconic but 50% of the fucking characters. Yes, damn right the REAL costumes are that fucking important. Fuck that new Fifty-Screw puzzle-robo-armor new pockets n pouches bullshit and fuck sellout hack Geoff Johns and short ass Jim Lee.
I'd really like to see the REAL Jay Garrick and Alan Scott again. Before DC turned Jay into Hal Jordan and Alan into a bitt fucking fagit with a weakness for wood and gave him that stupid retarded ass gay as fuck origin where he uses his lover's engagement ring as the GL ring. Such shit. I can't fucking believe they did that shit with those characters. They totally molested the Golden Age. Fuck DC for that.
>complain about DC fucking up the JSA
Yeah, I know, right? Ever since Robinson left, E2 has just been down the shitte-
>complains about all the things that actually aren't problems
Yep right look in the face and I dug that he didn't have ears but I don't mind them in like how Alex Ross draws them, but the costume is awesome. Buccaneer boots and the Dracula cape and all.
Jay is a loser on bad terms with his GF and is given speed powers by the dying god Mercury who fell out of the sky. Replace Abin Sur with Mercury and Hal Jordan with Jay and you got New 52 Jay Garrick. Pretty shit.
It's the same premise, just set in the 21st century with a girl instead of a guy.
As long as she's still Prez Rickards level of competences and awesome, it's fine. If they make her a sterotypical teen girl we'll have a problem.
a-any chance any of these would be a sort of stealth revival of Demon Knights or ASW?
I'll even take a time displaced Hex again...
Literally all we've seen is just a piece of cover art and the name.
Except that the characterizations and motivations are completely different. Hal Jordan pulls insane plans out of his ass and somehow makes them work, even when it causes friction with the way people say things SHOULD be done.
Jay is primarily characterized as a good kid who wants to be better and finally gets a chance to escape from his dead end, normal life. In the mean time he learns how to be a real hero and was being positioned as the moral heart and center of the team of Earth 2 heroes. Hell, he even inspired Khalid to man up and assume the mantle of Doctor Fate on his own terms rather than allowing himself to be jerked around by Nabu.
Hal just doesn't manage that kind of inspiration, although he can make for a good leader when he puts his mind to it.
Not a chance.
One by one the DC titles I used to buy got cancelled. Weird to think that once Swamp Thing is finished, I'll be buying no DC titles at all, for the first time in ages.
>not reading Justice League 3000
>not reading Gotham by Midnight
>not reading Grayson
That's pretty much Hal Jordan: Good guy in a dead end life, dead end job, GL gives him new motivation and he becomes a hero. New Fifty-Screw Jay Garrick is Hal Jordan.
i can't believe how fucking lazy that shit was. Then they give him the Ant Man helmet. The fuck is that shit about? FUCK Robinson and FUCK New Fifty-Screw.
I like the gonzo dated weirdness of Prez.
It has never gotten a decent chance to exist.
Its like if they announced a Kamandi book that was about some jackass on a survivor-esque reality show.
I mad. FIGHT ME.
A teen girl who was elected via Twitter is shwarbage
All these books and I'm still not getting my Captain Marvel or Metal Men ongoing.
LOL that's funny....the CW Flash TV show suit also reminds me of Ultimate Giant Man and the movie DareDevil suit....that costume needs to improve and fast for The Flash ...how do you fucking MARVEL, DC?
I really, really want to know what "elected via twitter" means, because that's going to shape a lot of my view of the book.
Was it a groundswell of support via twitter that got her elected (good) or was she literally elected via a poll on twitter (bad).
Similar, female Kamandi would be fine, but reality show kamandi wouldn't be.
give it a few months
she has a tv show coming, she cant be w/o a book for too long
is it any better yet?
I'd rather just have a WW team up honestly....
Here's a tip, if you're samefagging then try to at least vary your posting style so people have a harder time trying to figure out you're sock-puppeting your own stupid opinions.
And stop using those fucking ellipses.
Forensic linguist here, you'd be surprised. Recognizing samefagging on this site is nowhere near as easy as you might think, even if the samefag doesn't try to mask his style at all.
>The fan questions went straight to hot button topics as a woman asked why DC seemed "ashamed" of its diverse heroes while Marvel seemed to be successful at getting people excited about their diversity. To her, most DC characters of color or dealing with disability have been removed, white washed or cancelled. Cunningham said that he believes this perception is just that – something that is promoted in the media but doesn't hold up as that imbalanced when you actually look at the books. Johns agreed, saying that DC is bringing characters like Cisco Ramon to their TV universe as well as in the comics, but they don't promote such a move as the debut of an Hispanic character so much as the promotion of a great character who happens to be Hispanic. "Just because it isn't announced on 'The View,' doesn't mean it's not there," added Scott.
It's funny how true this is. Marvel's announcement was all over my Facebook earlier, but only my friend's podcast posted anything about DC's and they generally don't even bother to mention DC stuff in their show.
Reading the new writer's posts about his intentions for Green Arrow have me excited and wanting to add it back to my pulls once they take over. I really hope it stacks up to Lemire's run.
What titles has Danger Guns worked on that have people full-on hating him? I know his New 52 JLI was pretty mediocre, but what else?
I have no fucking clue why, because between all these books and Convergence, I'm SUPER excited about what DC is doing right now.
And the only two Marvel books I care about right now are ANGR and Moon Knight.
Why the wider media seems to give Marvel a free pass and never takes a second look at DC's stuff is beyond me. I guess the promise of FUCKING SECTION 8 WRITTEN BY ENNIS AND DRAWN BY MCCREA only excites people who actually read comics.
>Reading the new writer's posts about his intentions for Green Arrow have me excited and wanting to add it back to my pulls once they take over. I really hope it stacks up to Lemire's run.
Yeah, I'm happy that it's got a good creative team change.
Now if only we could get Venditti and Booth off of Flash...
>people are excite for Ming Doyle on Constantine
Why? Most of her credits have been for art, not writing. I mean anything is better then Fawkes but we don't know if this will turn out will or not
>Why the wider media seems to give Marvel a free pass and never takes a second look at DC's stuff is beyond me.
Because Marvel is owned by Disney, a super huge company with a lot of PR people who know how to sell the brand to a non-comic audience. Also the movies have been more successful and numerous then DC's output
tl;dr they know how to pander to casual faggots who don't read comic books better
Difference is that DC advertises places where people who actually read this stuff are, and people who are interested in starting comics would go. Who the fuck watches the View to learn about comics? How many people who watch The View would even want to read comics?
>Because Marvel is owned by Disney, a super huge company with a lot of PR people who know how to sell the brand to a non-comic audience.
But DC is owned by Warner Bros, which is ALSO huge conglomerate media company. You mean to tell me that Time Warner doesn't have any strings to pull?
>And the only two Marvel books I care about right now are ANGR and Moon Knight.
I was reading She-Hulk, Superior Foes, and All-New X-Factor, but all three are now cancelled and Howard the Duck is presently my only potential interest in Marvel.
>Now if only we could get Venditti and Booth off of Flash...
I know, right? It hurt to have to drop both my favorite DC heroes (Flash and GA) from my pulls at nearly the same time because of awful creative team changes.
That's precisely why I brought up the quote in >>69286954.
Have you seen Thor's sales, though? it actually worked
I don't know if the controversy made it sell rather than the fact that it was the View but they considered it a success anyway
>advertise to the people who already read comics
>advertise to people who don't read comics, and then the people who already read comics will still here about it through their usual sources
huh it's a mystery
I assume Simone probably knows something we don't
I've seen a couple other people say they've heard rumors about Batwoman either getting relaunch or heading a team book, so DC's probably got more books to announce soon
Lemire's exploring his sexualit- I mean, other companies at the moment, but he can still do work for DC.
Soule was a fuckup though. I'm bummed about that. At DC he was able to tell great stories, at Marvel he's just kind of a workhorse who does the "important" things
As long they write the characters the way they're known an liked as we should be golden.
Main thing I want to know is if this new Omega Man series will be more towards the original series that had a small army of characters or more towards after Lady Styx decimated most of the gang and the OM were a gang of 5
eh, losing Soule kind of hurt and it hurts even more that now he's putting out worse stuff over at Marvel but DC's getting enough new blood that I'm sure some of them will make up for it
Lemire totally blew it on JLU and I'm still butthurt that he left GA because Sorrentino wanted to waste his talent on Bendis X-men so I'm not going to miss him quite as much
>Are you a cute boy willing to dress as Superboy with a handsome adult male friend willing to dress as Sinestro? That might give you an edge.
Bonus points if your friend has a Sinestro Corps cock ring that glows.
"And Scott Lobdell seems to have an intriguing teenage take on Doomsday, reinvented as a youngster in Doomed, again showing a little more title experimentation, along the lines of Wicked, Tangled and Frozen. Lobdell hasn’t always had the best of press, least of all from Bleeding Cool, but if he can summon half of what he had from Generation X into Doomed, then we could well have a massive hit."
