Shit guys, I just saw "Burning Low" on Adventure Time and I don't know man, is Princess Bubblegum and Finn ever going to hit it off? When she was 13 she was all down for it, is it their age gap holding them back or does she genuinely lack a romantic interest for him?
General Adventure Time thread I guess
>does she genuinely lack a romantic interest for him
She certainly lacks it now. That whole angle of PB possibly being jealous of FP was Sugar's thing and got dropped like a hot potato.
It's possible PB could regain interest in Finn as he ages, maybe even just reeling him into a practical marriage so he protects her forever. But putting them together romantically would not be handled well, because you'd have to show WHY they make a good couple when they currently don't. PB used to be kinda fun so I could see it, but now she's a robot and is more of a symbol of love and duty than a fun person to be around.
Is it the same way in the comics?
Again, I thought it seemed like she had more romantic feelings for him when they were both the same age but then again has she ever had a boyfriend or something like that?
By the show's original figuring that age gap has pretty much closed. That was before they made her ancient.
Does her being hundreds of years old automatically make her too old? Or is it just her physical age that matters. Important point with Marceline too.
The three main girls are all bad for Finn anyway. He should either stay single or get some simple village girl from elsewhere. Like Roselinen but actually real for god's sake.
In the comic they're a canon couple in the future. It's not the same.
>has she ever had a boyfriend or something like that
Yes but they have made it clear that she has no romantic intentions anymore.
In the comics I recall him aging up into Guts Finn and PB considered that okay.
So it's mostly physical age. Probably once he's 18 or over is when it's fine.
That shit would be the biggest trolling to Finn and I kind of want it to happen now.
>Hey, Peebs, it's been years since I last asked you out. Aaaand I'm like...25 now, I think? So...you wanna go out?
>Sorry, Finn, but you're still too young.
>Aw, what?! How old do I have to be for me dating you to be okay?
>Ehhhhh...give it about seven hundred more years or so.
The comics are simpler and nicer though, so that couple working out makes more sense. Finn's been rejected so horribly hard in the show. Putting him with PB at the end would make all the "Get OVER IT, Finn, you ain't gettin shit" irrelevant.
They've stomped on his romantic aspirations so hard that it looks like they want him single for the rest of the show. That's fine I guess? But then what was the point of pushing his ladyproblems so painfully hard. Just to show him giving up and finding "better" things to do with his life?
Giving him a new permanent girl would probably be fumbled. It's too hard for the writers to manage. Remember how FP almost never showed up? It's scary to disturb that core Finn/Jake relationship.
The most I could see is a flashforward in the last episode where he's with someone, but that's all.
I heard she's coming back this season.
>Do you think she'll return and "fix" the Ice King?
Fixing him means that IK as a character dies, so no never. Maybe he could get slightly better or something.
Shes great lets talk about her. Also where did you hear that "she's coming back this season" from?
I'd definetely like to see more of her.
I'd love to see something like her struggling with seeing Simon the way he is, sort of like Marceline. I'm a sucker for that sort of thing.
I think the Ice King should stay the way he is but I'd still love to see Betty return, she'll probably leave though after an episode because of the Ice King, though.
Something which surprised me was that the Ice King seemingly didn't care after he got his powers back that he had seen Betty, even though he obssesion over her is what drove her away when he put on the crown and might be why he's kidnapping princesses. (although that might be the insanity/crown causing that.)
That would be awesome!
They teased it by showing her in Season 3, she never talked until the end of Season 5 and then we saw her in person there!
She is trying to save him but it is fucking weird how Simon reverted back to his old state then after the episode and he became The Ice King again, there was no mention or anything of him being a human by himself nor the other characters!
To be fair, he did mention that "it's weird how you blackout for a day and meet the love of your life". I've always liked the whole Ice King/Simon persona, how he's like aware of things about himself subconsciously but how the crown is repressing it.
What episode did he say that in? I clearly missed that if he infact said that. His first appearance after the Simon reverted state was the new Fionna episode/The Prince Who Wanted Everything and after that was Thanks For Some Apples and again no mention (but Xayaphone fucked up DEARLY by the part when Ice King gave his crown to Abracadaniel and he didn't go crazy)
Sorry, I qouted him wrong.
I thought of the end of "Betty" at 10:04.
oh it was in that episode... I paid no heed to it since it was already included. I meant post-episode experiences with others. People like Finn and Jake or Marceline should have clearly stated to him 'hey do you remember what happened? why are you the Ice King again and not Simon'.
I wonder where Betty is hiding though.
The show seems to suggest that the crown makes Simon forget about the people who were important to him in life, even to the point that he forgets them again immediately after being reminded about them, but that he subconsciously seeks out things that remind him of those people (Marceline --> Penguins, Betty --> Princesses). He was even able to develop new memories about Marceline, but even having pictures and his own writings failed to jog his memory about how he knew her a thousand years ago.
I'm guessing they all know it's pointless, since I think the most he has acknowledged his past as Simon is being ashamed of wearing glasses. In "I Remember You" he is clearly oblivious to Marceline shoving pictures and texts right up his face while asking him if he really doesn't remember.
I don't recall any other episodes where he took off his crown or it came off.. besides Betty, but in Thanks For Some Apples, he took his crown off and didn't revert back to his human form and Abracadaniel didn't go crazy. That pissed me the fuck off.
At this point, as I percieve it, the crown has basically "ruined" his sanity, so he won't go sane I'm guessing by simply taking it off anymore. Remember, I think it was in "Simon&Marcy", when even after she knocked it off him he still remained insane a few seconds afterwards.
Oh shit yeah great point! I forgot but yeah the baby Marceline did do something with the crown you are right!
Honestly, I've always liked the backstory in Adventure Time, sometimes more than certain episodes, I think it's all in all well-written and fun to experience.
Maybe I haven't gotten so far in the series yet but I'd like to see Jack's and Finn's backstory, or did I miss it?
Finn's back story is somewhat of a mystery. Jake will have another episode about his parents this thursday (The Investigations of The Joshua ft. Margaret) and you might want to check out Dad's Dungeon too
yup! this thursday. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVYD8W-g-pw
getting a real Rusty Brown vibe off that layout.
writers have hinted that it 'might' happen and with all the portals and dimensions and crazy shit happening, it wouldn't be out of the question for Finn and Fionna to meet.
I might not be able to find it in time but I'll lead you on the trail.. it was posted on fuckbook by Kent Osborne in a Q&A session that AT did in partnership with CN on the official AT fuckbook page. Look it up from October 2013. If you find it before I can, post a screenshot so we can save it. Have gotten into this convo with others before and keep forgetting to save the screenshot of it...
>>64583971 fuck forgot image.
Shit, you found it. However, there was someone who was open or suggested the idea. I think I mixed up Kent Osborne with the other person. It might be on a lededdit AMA but it was around fall 2013... see if you can find that one.
Thats actually in Spanish.
Finn shouldn't be with a village girl either.
What he NEEDS is a kindred soul. A girl who's down to do dungeon crawls, go on adventures, fight evil for fun, and play a childish prank or two despite being too old for it.
>What he NEEDS is a kindred soul. A girl who's down to do dungeon crawls, go on adventures, fight evil for fun, and play a childish prank or two despite being too old for it.
couldn't agree more with you. Fionna is indeed perfect for him.
Finn seems to get attached to girls he can save and protect. It'd be funny to have him run into a chick who is just as heroic as him and see if he gets bothered. NOT Fionna, are we 14 years old here? She don't be real.
but the prince isn't even a human/her own species. it makes no sense.
Read my other post: >>64584164 Somewhere out there I know I saw an interview by another staff member that was open to the idea and implied they either made or would be open to making an episode in the future where they both meet.
Furthermore, considering the fact that Betty jumped into a portal from 1000 years ago and is now running around Ooo, that is pretty damn good evidence to suggest Finn and Fionna can meet somehow.
By this point the transformation into Ice King is permanent so far as the crown itself is concerned; taking it off won't change anything. He has also basically forgotten everything about his past life as Simon, other than the fact he used to wear glasses (which he was ashamed of). Poor guy doesn't even seem to be able to tell what those videos actually meant.
Also, the comics aren't canon to the show, but there's an issue where Ice King explains that whenever he learns something new, something old gets pushed out of his memory and he forgets about it. I apparently don't have the page saved.
Because PB is manipulative.
The world is safer with FP locked in the lantern, where she is not at risk of accidently destroying Ooo.
Finn is always going to be willing to save someone locked up by Flame King. Flame King is evil, so wrecking his plans must be good.
But Finn trusts PB. So by claiming credit for it, she makes Finn more likely to support the imprisonment of FP.
It is dishonest, but for the best of everyone involved. Perfectly in keeping with how PB operates.
According to the writers, never in our wildest dreams.
>According to the writers
search your heart, anon
you know it to be true
But anon! Marceline specifically said that she doesn't like Finn "that way" in Go With Me.
wouldn't care if he got with no girls and just ran around Ooo being a pimp like in that one episode
>implying it's not all just one big build up for the grand finale
It better be the three of them.
Based 4some harem.
more episodes focusing on friendship and vengeance when
jake's family's cool
mostly I just want good humor which can really be juggled between all the characters they've introduced so far
maybe exploring some new areas, like that sand kingdom thing they checked out was great
or the best would be checking out some pre-mushroom war ruins
they're all over the place, it drives me nuts that they don't like, explore derelicts and dick around with the relics they find and shit
>Anything very good
whaddya mean, nerd
let's get specific
fuck off AT shill, and if this is Jesse Moynihan or Pendleton Ward, stop hiding behind a veil of anonymity you fucking coward. we already know you guys spy constantly on /co/
you got me, I am an AT shill
please send me your contact information so that I may send you the requisite gift package
I honestly think it works better as primarily 11 minutes, with 22-minute runtimes saved for special events, season finales, and season premieres. Plus, do you really want to give Xayaphone 22 minutes?
I always think of the Betty episode and get mad, though
why are all these images so creepy and weird
I love the idea of that shit making it into nursery rhymes. That's how the post-apocalyptic stuff should have stayed. In the freaking background. Finn and Jake don't know what the rhyme means they just use it.
>should have stayed
is it not in the background? they legit mention the "Mushroom War" a grand total of like, twice, ever
you just see ruins and junk and it's never talked about?
Why that past version of Finn, i mean that chick with a tiger or some shit doesnt have an arm. Then Finn loses his arm, also Finn from another dimension also doesnt have one.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN
>breaking up Flame Princess and Cinnamon Bun to make her love Finn again for no reason
>cutting down PB's constantly established asexual-leaning environment
>'I guess I changed my mind...'
>she didn't wanna be Finn's first
>she gunna get all about finn now that he's been
I like to imagine Finn's Dad was in the Cosmic Prison because, the creation of the Lich in the Mushroom War was such a heinous breach of the dimensions that humanity itself was condemned banished from Earth. Some humans who survived pulled a fragment of the Earth off into the dimensions beyond, and the return of their kind to this land, now called Ooo in its place, was punishable by eternal imprisonment.
It's why Finn's dad is all about space gear and Flash Gordon stuff, humans either live on Mars ala Lincoln, or just out in the stars doing whatever. Finn was an innocent because he didn't come by choice, but as a baby, and it's why he was just stuck there alone. They'd just grabbed his dad. The few humans that weren't affected were so changed by the radiation and cosmic fuckery that humanity became the various creatures and fixtures of Ooo. Half-breeds and Magical beings were also exempt from the purge.
dying to see the lich burst forth from his fleshy prison and murder both TT and mr. pig
He made good comics before he went all FTM-but-not-really-doing-any-transition-stuff. I make a habit of unfollowing people who get into politics or drama-tastic personal business, so I don't know if he kept up.
Really, I don't want him to come back. We have other villains at the fringes of this show, and putting the Lich stuff to rest would be good. He got done in the only way possible, and the Lich is too crafty a villain to just kick off into the abyss between realities.
I'd really like to see Ricardio return, or maybe Me-Mow. Or Tiffany. Or maybe some new villains.
all three of those dudes are hilarious villains
I wanna see more of Huntress Wizard
no clue what you're talking about
I thought a chick drew the bottom's up AU?
I also heard that she started focusing on weird and gross futa AT garbage AUs
The characters are definitely aware that it happened though. Before it seemed like they probably didn't know or care what happened 1000 years ago, which is better in my opinion. The focus on the past has led to insane decisions like resurrecting Betty and making Marceline mostly about her past baggage.
>Apparently one of my roomies went to his girlfriend's place the day that episode aired to go to a party
>She has a little brother who is an amputee
>He apparently loved the fact that his favourite cartoon had a hero that was just like him
>Finn getting his arm back apparently bummed him out
>instead of going to a party they played vidya with the kid all night
Way to go AT.
I wonder what the deal with the arm is
it seems like there's a catch? what was with that stinger thing?
you're doing it on purpose
I see your game now
I wonder if you could eat pieces of PB, like that wad of PB's hair finn has?
what if one day someone cool discovers my AT folder and sees what's in it and makes fun of me for it
this fear haunts me more than any other
>implying I'm going to open that
I bet it's all porn
and that's BORING
>>64581275 he is a different person from how i see it ice king stole magic to make the crown in the medieval times before the bomb of course, and lost his crown or was killed. so forever on the magic in the crown transforms the user in to the ice king in time, but you can still use the power for short time with out any harm (like in Crabapples Guiseppe) because the ice king already has a body to form himself, tis why he didnt remember anything he wasn't there, the ice king was dead for that short period of time
you never watched it before and want to just sample some episodes?
BS. Finn went crazy the moment he put the crown on. Plus, it was yet another one of Xayaphone's massive fuckups
i asked the same thing about a month ago and watched like 25/30 of the most recommended episodes, i'm guessing the most popular ones with marceline, the lich and so on.
probably i could just download the rest and go from there but it still seems like a lot of backlog to go through.
yeah what all those guys said
just run through seasons 1-2, you really can't go wrong
they're super short too, so you'll run through them fast
What Was Missing
or anything to do with Marcy's dad
yea same, i love mainly hardcore punk and shit but her song in what was missing gives my chills awesome song then again so was finns just wish they would do some more music eps there so good
i gotta say im happy to see a thread thats not everyone getting upset and saying how shit it has gotten, ill love the show till it ends dont care what happens it fucking adventure time man woo for be positive and not negative cunts
>everyone getting upset and saying how shit it has gotten
it's past those peoples' bedtimes, bro
he's an author you know...
I honestly don't really trust much outside of the show
I read that one comic where marceline goes on tour with her band and PB and that's it
what's up with all the garbage games they make
Bella Noche obviously.
I'm pretty excited for the new episode tomorrow, 4 years since Finn and Jake's parents have been a thing and they're finally gettin a spotlight.
I expect it to be really good and fun and shit, but I'm also kinda bummed since it'll squash 95%of the headcanons I had for Finn and Jake's family life along with Joshua and Margaret's characters. Aw well.
I feel like PB's later character development actually starts to swing her back towards being a potential love interest for Finn a little.
She's neurotic, secretly unsure of herself, very obsessive. Just like Finn.
the one with the song at the end of it (can't remember if it was Simon & Marcy or I Remember You) got me to the verge of tears (but no waterworks). it was pretty moving. Also, the episode 'Betty' made me do the same thing.
Because it's a show for little girls( and adult women who should know better).
And they like obsessive pretty manwhore dudes with lady problems and a bad case of oneitis.
Hell make the object of his affection the most painfully average chick on the planet and BAM instant female attention.
Finn is never going on a fun adventure or having that kick ass magic arm made of teliknetic will to kick ass or some ancient clockwork arm built by some steam punk civilization, or even have a grass arm.
It's just wham it's brought back in the worst way possible.
It was "I Remember You." And I will admit to tearing up when I first saw the episode (when it originally aired).
Marceline, is it just you and me in the wreckage of the world?
That must be so confusing for a little girl.
And I know you're going to need me here with you,
But I'm losing myself, and I'm afraid you're going to lose me, too.
This magic keeps me alive, but it's making me crazy
And I need to save you, but who's going to save me?
Please forgive me for whatever I do,
When I don't remember you
Marceline, I can feel myself slipping away
I can't remember what it made me say,
But I remember that I saw you frown.
I swear, it wasn't me, it was the crown
the way the characters start crying and finally seeing that the Ice King wasn't actually a bumbling idiot was what hit me the hardest because I used to hate him with a passion and hes now my favorite character on the show, actually Simon Petrikov is. no matter whenever the repeat of that episode comes on, it gets me to the verge of tears and close to the edge but the tears don't come out although it gets close. thats the magic of that episode... every fucking time, same exact thing and very few cartoons or tv shows for that matter can take you on an emotional roller coaster like that does and the very last scene and how it ends on a somewhat high/harmonious note with Marceline's voice. it always gets me.
Finn just needs a human, since they have such nice abilities like not burning your dick, not feeling like a corpse and other nice compability stuff.
>Finn brings big pile of bones to PB
>Clone me girls from it.
>DOZENS OF GIRLS
ohh shes real alright.
and lets not forget the game they play with portals, magic, and time machine. it wouldnt be out of the question for her to become real
Ice King/Simon and Betty is comfy ship
>fuck the ships
Man, fuck Betty. Like we need any more of that shit here.
