Raven Thread PART 2!
Let the madness continue.
Not limited to just Cartoon Raven
Are you as patriotic as Raven?
Why don't you make a Starfire thread and see if it can compete.
> Raven = Starfire
>tfw you get milked by Raven and Starfire at the same time
Was that intentional?
That's why I was wondering if it was intentional that he made a glorious 4chan pun.
Let's take a look at ourselves, /co/mrades. Could any of us get with her?
Serious question, I remember there was a thread a while back where everyone envisioned themselves as a member of the team and tried to figure out how to score with her. It provoked some interesting discussions.
Well, the only one we've really seen her physically attracted to was Aqualad.
I think she MAY love Robin, but that's only alluded to in the Go! comics which may not be canon. She is evident to have a deep respect of him, but beyond that is a mystery.
Beast Boy... Ehh... I think they're more like a big sister/little brother thing.
Cyborg MAYBE. I feel like they were trying to set them up as something early on in the series, but never got around to it.
It was. But it hasn't updated in months, and the author rarely pops by in these threads, as opposed to when he's rarely miss a single one. Apparently he had some medical issues back in Feburary, but not much came of them. He kind of dropped off the face of the earth.
He was a thread a month or so ago confirming that the quest was not dead, but he would be retconning a ton of shit.
That was the last I heard of Humble, but it was all I needed. For he gave us the most precious gift of all: hope.
Off the rails far.
Control freak brought a Kaiju from Pacific Rim into the bay and we kicked its ass
with raven, because we magically bonded in the last chapter after some demon cultist bs. My god it was amazing.
Well, I'd start with simple things. I'd loan her books and read things with her. "Hey, I just got this book from the library. Everyone's cleared out of the common room, you wanna go sit down there? Should be pretty quiet because it's so late." Hopefully, I'd be able to find some common ground. I like philosophical texts like The Republic, Farenheit 451, 1984, and Russian literature. I'd guess maybe she'd like books like that. Then I'd just let things develop from there.
>Opening with TTG
you fucked up
Can people post some good Raven reaction screencaps? I used to have a whole bunch but I lost my Raven folder a while ago
Listen, I know it sounds like a stale cookies but consider this:
It would be just like we restarted after the Amazon island
before the Jinxfags ruined everything
A NEW CHALLENGER APPROACHES pic related
Beep beep motherfuckers, superior Teen Titans waifu coming through
Not literate enough and not brooding enough. Maybe some other anon would have better chances
Lets all take note of the fact that she fell hard for this superficial bag of papercuts.
I think some anons think she would be more difficult than she actually would be. If you were genuine with her, she would probably appreciate the attention a LOT if you weren't some creepy loser. Its probably just a fear of intimacy more than anything else that would be a problem.
You know, I feel like this expressiveness is what is missing in TT:Go. Say what you will about americanime, I love it.
There was some nice, subtle bonding with BB and Raven in this episode.
>Look, I'm sorry.
>For what? You weren't the one that...
>No. I'm sorry he broke your heart.
TFW you realize he said this cause he's been there with Terra.
Was that post-Aftershock?
I thought it was just as sweet even without the Terra context.
namefagging aside, I do kind of wish people would hop onboard the unstable Terra train.
She's a brilliant character, she should have had more screen time. And I feel like nobody really gets her character either, the crossover wasn't some kind of arbitrary good/evil thing.
THE FUCKING HAVE THE BEST RAVEN IN THE COMICS, BUT NOT IN THE SHOW.
Where do you think the show would have gone if they shipped BB and Raven?
Think it would have taken a plunge in quality? It seems like they don't know how to write relationships, cause it took Robin and Starfire the entire series AND A SHITTY MOVIE to finally hook up.
I think the tension between Starfire and Robin was well done. If they actually had a relationship in the show, it would have killed that silly tension they had going on. Just because there was not a relationship does not mean that they couldn't make one.
Robin and Star hooked up at the end to tie that tension off, since it was the end.
I feel like a lot of cartoons do this though... The 'They're finally going out/kissing.' is the payoff.
Why couldn't they start dating earlier? Do you think it would have hurt their characters?
Well, for one thing it was against Robin's character. In this version, he's some kind of hardass focused leader who can't be distracted by romance.
But to be honest, I feel like they could have done it, but then what? It was too much of a saturday morning cartoon, and they were superheros. It was a superhero show. Would they really change that much towards each other for it to make a difference? Or would the writers get lewd about it? I just don't see how it could happen naturally and they probably didn't either.
pic kind of related
When this ho dies.
I'm ok with the reboot. Besides it a soft reboot where the MC has just recently join the Titans and doesn't have to go through a prologue. All relatioinships are basically reset and no
skinned Starfire or pirate Jinx, though we CAN make reckless decisions to maim our teammates all over again!Just think of the possibilities! Humble decided that TTQ was getting pretty convoluted and wanted to attract more players after the long hiatus.
>Not limited to just Cartoon Raven
Is that so?
Alright. I like Raven's new design. I like the feathers and the talons.
I also like the fact that she's a character with goals and shit now. She's a proactive demon princess instead of just the hapless victim of her heritage. Aspirational Demon Queen Raven > Sad Dark Phoenix Raven, imo
I don't have all of them I just saved my favorites
Humble literally said there would be more dating sim elements.
Also, Humble didn't say this but it should be obvious that
Humble rebooted the quest so that we could romance Raven.
Sorry, Jinx. He forgot you once.
Now everyone will.
Do you guys think that a Raven ongoing would stand a chance?
How would you write it (or your ideal creative team)? What would you have happen in it?
There was a mini-series, the pic in >>63725341 related. And frankly it wasn't very good.
I can kind of see what they were trying to do with it. They were going with the whole "need to control my emotions" thing, and the villain was some crazy bitch who'd gotten ahold of Psycho Pirate's mask. That said, the comic did an absolutely terrible job of portraying just what the mask was supposed to be doing to people and just what this supposed emotional turmoil was like, other than that somebody ended up trampled at the end of it somehow.
Anyway, I'd think that to make a Raven ongoing you'd have to involve the larger community of magic types in the DCU. Explore her relationship to the rest of that group.
>Explore her relationship to the rest of that group.
What relationship? She's always trapped in Teen Titans Limbo Land whenever she gets any publication.
She's got more connections to the Wilson family than any of the wizards and warlocks of the world.
I know, I'm saying that good ongoing could come out of changing that fact.
CUHRAYZEE macabre mystic stories.
-She stops a voodoo terrorist from using dolls of the world's leaders to blackmail the earth, but being unable to undo the enchantment of them, has to go on the run from dubious parties that wish to exploit their power
-Is made privy to a prophecy (she's rather shocked that it's not about her specifically) where she has to play cupid to a golem and homunculus so they can one day produce a "child of magic" that will save all creation...maybe.
-Raven's attempt to help a kid find her lost cat gets her entangled in a fantastical Neo-noir story full of dusky dames and monstrous mobsters and a 60 year old mystery
-Caffeinated Psychedelia is the order of the day as Raven and a cadre of the world's deadliest baristas race to the finish of a vision quest to find the legendary Phantom Brew which is said to grant whoever drinks it the "ultimate charge".
-a vacation in India with her fellow Titans goes disastrously wrong as the Vimanda they enter rockets into space and strands them on an alien world they will not be allowed to leave unless they save life on the planet. Unfortunately, everything on it is all ready dead
-When Raven tries to use magic to bypass traffic during a driving test, she's arrested and sentenced to several weeks of supernatural driver's ed where she learns the rules of the road for mystics...from a living street.
-Words of power and the boons that come with them keep spilling out of people's mouths at random. Raven must venture into the collective unconscious using the malleable mind of Beast Boy to set these Akashic Records straight.
>Humble rebooted the quest so we could romance raven
YOU WERE THE CHOSEN ONE!
IT WAS SAID YOU WOULD BE BETTER THAN THE WAIFUFAGS NOT JOIN THEM! BRING ADVENTURE TO THE QUEST, NOT LEAVE IT AS A DATING SIM!
I'm just messing around, y'know?
Anyway, the thing I'm actually excited for is Terra back on the team. Drama.
Eh, she's a teenager. You tell a girl like that that she's your "destiny" and can deliver that line with a straight face, that's like half the battle right there.
Also the fact that he was just a book and didn't have to actually go on dates or have a body to betray him probably made it a lot easier to seal the deal.
Occurred mostly on /co/ and later to /tg/ almost a year ago. Its a good read.
Well there is a photobucket link in the pastebin I just gave you. But here.
I'll see if I can find anything else.
Speaking of faaaaaaan fiction, I just updated mah story.
It's called Titans: Black, and it's about the Teen Titans reforming into a sort of clandestine, black ops team that will fight crime with within by going undercover. Sort of like how Young Justice started out. I kind of want to get a 'The Wire' feeling from it.
I've mainly been setting up the story with exposition, reforming the team after they had split up, etc.
I also threw in Batwoman for the fuck of it. She's got a crush on Raven.
we starfire now
> "What are you still doing up anon? Come to bed!"
*ON THE EDGE
I loved Terra so much I commissioned this from an artist called Phil Cho. She's my waifu material, even if she'll likely betray me and commit adultery with one eyed mercenaries
We're a nation of immigrants
She comes into this country, and then tries to bring her father in after her. Damn Azarathican
Raven can handle some Dick too.
That whore couldn't even handle Robin's Hong Kong Phooey dick.
So, just the disgusting alien then?
I'm just being mean.
And I ship her with someone else...
You mad at the most believable ship in the show?
How is StarfireXRobin not the most believable ship?
Or TerraXBeast Boy?
Do people believe this??
Robin is too serious for Starfire.
>Star likes being around BB.
>She actually likes his jokes.
>They have a similar, joyful personality.
It makes more sense than Robin, who only really likes her cause she's a girl. He just wants to get his dick wet. He never has the patience for her lack of knowledge of earth, and she's just expected to go with him because they met each other under romantic circumstances.
RavenxRobin makes more sense.
These three are the ultimate ship.
Plus they each get a hole.
I could see it as the cutest thing ever made.
Plus, she is probably the only one who can handle all the high intensity animal sex that would come with fucking Beast Boy.
I guess I'm just a Hong Kong Phaggot for shipping Robin×Starfire and Beast BoyXTerra then.
I got ya.
I really wish more people drew mah ship.
LET'S GET ABSOLUTELY CRAZY
I think Star likes Dick -because- he is serious.
He always has a plan, a response, an idea to pursue. He's a strong person: mentally, character-wise and physically.
In fact, his big hang-up of being overly driven and emotionally diminutive play into Star's biggest strength, her ability to empathize.
In herself, Starfire feels inadequate as far as her intelligence/wit and sociability is concerned. When she feels out of her depth, in most general things, Robin is the person she can get the most reliable answer from.
If it's any consolation. At least a third of the rule34 Starfire stuff involves Beast Boy. There's barely any of her and Robin.
Also, yeah, it'd be really damn cute. And if she makes out with him, she can learn how to speak to animals.
I guess it kind of falls under the opposites attract thing.
Robin is very closed in, secretive, and Starfire is a very open, friendly person. I never really got why she latched onto Robin so hard... I think it was because their mutual attraction was established pre-show.
But honestly, why does ANYONE like Dick save for that ass? All that's really defined by him is that he suffered a great loss. Jason Todd has more personality, and he was basically a copy of Dick.
I like Robin in Go! because he has a personality. He's arrogant, quick to anger, and commanding.
Just look at his face after he gets throttled the third time. Dude is smiling. Fuhreakky.
The problem with Robin is that he tended to suffer from the same "He's the leader in a team full of people more amusing" problem that Cyclops sometimes suffers from.
However, when Slade is around, he shows more flaws to him, and he becomes a lot more interesting.
>But honestly, why does ANYONE like Dick save for that ass?
Looks like that relationship would get a bit... muddy...
Did you guys who REFUSE to watch Go! even know about this?
Not so much opposites, I think.
When Robin isn't being broody over something, he can be as adventurous and almost as fun as the rest of them.
Now, while I haven't seen TTG, I can assume that the personalities are exaggerated in Go!, which still fits him. This still has Robin being a proud (arrogant) leader (commanding), who can still be compassionate, thoughtful and suave at times. What else would a Tamaranian girl want? His potential, to her, is staggering.
People like Dick Grayson because he's friendly, respectful, supportive, and loves his job. His thing used to be that he was surprisingly well-adjusted and on good terms with pretty much the whole universe.
And I think that's most of why Robin is funny.
Raven threads never really die.
I know right? It's bullshit.
But we end up closer to Raven anyways towards the end.
Plus, read act 4 to the end, joker is in it.
I'll always vote for Jinx, but I'd be perfectly fine if we happen to go the Raven route.
Part of me wishes that we could've had a FeMC so we could romance BB <3
I'm just imagining what a catastrophe it would be when everyone inevitably starts hitting on Robin.
I'm sure if we'd stay best of friends with Starfire that she would allow a mutual love triangle. Tamaranians are quite open minded and understanding on the topic of love. But would Robin go for it...
I know this isn't the board for it, but what are these "monogatari" series about? Every time I see something posted from them it seems to switch between this guy perving on a few girls and then him getting torn apart by some monster repeatedly.
Run from it all you want, /co/.
This is the Raven DC is publishing now. This. Wearing a tomato slicer on her head. In public. This.
True. But there's a deep, gaping abyss between "not the best" or "kinda meh" and publishing that... creature.
I haven't followed the Titans for years, but I'm also given to understand that they did for Raven's character what they did to her wardrobe. Blech.
Nah, she's just an evil Gatchaman now.
The thing is that the Raven that most people love is really based on the cartoon, and doesn't have that much to do with whatever's appeared in the comics anyway.
>The thing is that the Raven that most people love is really based on the cartoon, and doesn't have that much to do with whatever's appeared in the comics anyway.
Which is why, one would think, that a near-as-dammit top-to-bottom continuity reboot would be the PERFECT time to put all that behind the character and give her a visual design that's proved very popular elsewhere.
Or you could have some idiot doodle this
on a cocktail napkin in between jello shots.
One guess which way DC went.
I actually agree with you completely there. And while I probably risk a shitstorm by bringing this up, it was also the point of that one "DC Comics: Bad At Math" comic that Dave Willis made. While I do hate me some Dave Willis myself, I do feel that it was kind of his stopped clock, right twice a day moment.
Of course the thing is that toon Raven and Star come from a generally positive place with happy endings and no serious consequences to most things. DC's comics on the other hand have been generally going on a track of no grim too dark for a very long time. They probably decided that such interpretations just would not fit.
Yeah, DC's really pushing the "We're SERIOUS" angle on all their IPs now. Sure, have some titles be dark and pessimistic, hell, have a whole line if you want, but for crying out loud, Raven's a character in Teen Titans. Teen. Not "all grown up and crushed by life" Titans.
This is going to be the nineties all over again. Next ridiculous amounts of pouches will be back in style. From there it's only a short step to the Liefeldocalypse.
Nah, I'll post Terra.
WITH RAVEN INNIT
No tits either last I recall.
>Why does he like Terra over me /co/?
She has a nose did you even watch the show.
Lady BB is pretty kawaii.
Beast Babe or Beast Girl?
I bet Robin is pretty hung.
Yeah, this is where I relate to Raven the most.
Was about to post that
I haven't been reading N52, are you telling me Dick doesn't chase girls anymore?
That's just terrible.
Except Kitten is a complete bitch and basically blackmailed Robin into a date on the first day they met. You've gotta build up a strong relationship with both over time and drop subtle hints at the right moments then when the time is right ask for a 3-way.
Alright anon, whatever you need to tell yourself to make it seem possible
You say that like you think I'm delusional or something. Which I am completely not!
It's ok anon.
It's not wrong to have a dream.
The over-exaggerated expressions were meant to look wonky.
