Hi guys, it's that guy who's about to poison his roommates. I'm making chicken dumplings, fried, and the recipe calls for ground chicken. Should I cook the chicken before adding it to the filling, or cook it inside the dumplings? I will be chopping rather than grinding it. I imagine it will cook pretty fast because of being chopped finely. On the other hand, if I cook it before adding it will definitely not kill anyone and I might be able to grind and mix it into the filling better. Any ideas?

You made it spicy?

I've decided to cook it beforehand. What's the shortest time I can steam/simmer this to make it edible? It's halved thighs. I figure I can cut it close since I'll recook it a bit in the dumpling.

Steaming gets them done pretty fast, maybe around 10 mins? Assuming the water is already boiling

Backstory on how/why you're going to poison your room mates? Dumplings look decent btw.

thanks babe. Dough was surprisingly easy. I sorta went off these recipes:
http://tribecanutrition.com/2013/03/chinese-chicken-dumplings/
I was gonna post the dough recipe but it didn't really work. I used half the flour and still had to add extra water. What I did was 1 cup flour 1/2-2/3 cup hot water, mix well and let sit in a bag or covered for 5 minutes, kneed for 5 minutes. I think I coulda put way less oil in the pan.

If youre worried about it being raw you can add water in your pan first to parboil it and then the water evaporates and u cook it like u just did now

I meant with the chicken, if I didn't get it right.

...Thanks

Room mates have to be complete dumbasses to not notice raw chicken inside their dumplings. Though that's probably why OP is trying to poison them.

Looks good.
