>had to use chirizo because andouille is literally impossible to find in my town
>exclude shellfish because I'm allergic
>include carrots to make it last longer because I'm frugal (read "poorfag")
>"I made Jambalaya"
... I feel dirty.
no, it's an American Creole original, the name says it all. sound it out:
JAMBL AL YA
it's a neologism from a common Creole phrase, "jumble all y'all want together"
say it really slow and imagine a typical coonass Louisiana swamp rat saying it in that accent and its perfectly clear. Jumble all y'all = Jumblallya = jambalaya. get it?
I wouldn't really know, never had it since like I said, can't find it here.
It was good, but I've been slammed before by truefags who insists that it's not true Jambalaya... I don't -really- care, personally, but I've always wanted to try Cajun/Creole food but never been to the area in question, so no idea how "true" my attempts are.
Mm, Morsan fick servisen av Mormor när hon flyttade hemifrån 1969. Jag fick ärva den av henne när jag flyttade hemifrån... har fan käkat på samma tallrikar hela livet nu.
