Is blue cheese supposed to be bitter? I bought some today and had it by itself since I usually like the taste, but I've only had them from restaurants. Mine tasted pretty bitter and not like the strong, unique flavor that I'm used to. Is it supposed to be like this? Is it safe to eat?
Pretty sure that's a no. Is there a hint of acridness to the smell?
It's unlikely to actually hurt you unless you can see a different mould growing, like a pink or black fur for example, but obviously if it doesn't taste nice there's no point choking it down just for the sake of it.
