Inspired by the "foods you don't eat" threads:

What are some popular food items or dishes that, for some whatever reason, you have NEVER eaten? Not once, not twice, but never.
Or, alternatively, is there anything that you first tried embarassingly late in your life?

Pic related. I have literally no idea what it tastes like. I also ate melon for the first time at the age of 21, and my friends still make fun of me because of it.
I have also never ever eaten anchovies, refried beans and avocados.

Asparagus is good.
What kind of melon did you eat?
The green or yellow kind?
Refried beans and avocados are pretty tasty.
I don't like anchovies though.
>>
Oysters, clams, lobster.

Asparagus tastes very green, try slowly frying it under a low heat with garlic butter, if you try to pick it up with a fork and it slides off then it is probably OK to eat (as a beginner) although most people eat it with a crunch. It's a very raw tasting green. Anchovies are best eaten in moderation, they are very salty for a seafood. Avocados are very waxy, you could try them with lemon juice or black pepper!

I don't think there is any food I haven't tried, I'm a Brit and open to anything no matter how gruesome it looks or sounds.

I suppose I'm lucky in the fact that I have never been a picky eater, although having said that - watery mashed swede and salty mashed potato served as school meals, put me off them for a long time.

Brains.

Star fruit.

Tripe. Well, yea, I did some in canned menudo, but that doesn't really count because I still have no idea what intestine tastes like....

Any seafood. I'm deepsea fisherman as well.
>>
bone marrow
caviare
brain, eyes, penis, testicles (etc)

Its not "popular" or common in the US, but I've never had duck or rabbit. I'd kinda like to try them but don't feel theres some overwhelming need to try it soon.

I've also never had a martini.
