I haven't been to London to eat for years but it will blow your mind, there is every type of cuisine available.

I suggest you start by finding out where you are staying and search for the sort of restaurants you like. Depends where you are coming from but don't expect London to be cheap . . .just a friendly warning.

Not going to list michelin places, but there are plenty if those if you want to spend a lot.

Hawksmoor
St. John
Rochelle Canteen

Kebab: Woody Grill
Indian: Tayyabs (also avoid Brick Lane curries desu)
Traditional English: Rules or Simpsons (both quite pricey but worth it for the experience desu, Rules is better).

Avoid Leicester square area like the plague (except to visit China Town if it takes your fancy, some alright food there). Generally avoid any pub or restaurant with printed offers/posters on the exterior.

Can't really go wrong for food in Soho or around Charlotte Street.

Borough Market is alright but a bit crowded and pricey; Maltby Street market is 10 mins walk away and is better imo, also 5 great breweries near it that have tap-rooms open on a Saturday.

Good places that are also quite expensive - Sushi Samba, Hawksmoor, Duck and Waffle

Kinda cool places around SoHo on Wardour Street, Greek Street... Duck & Rice, Inamo, Imli...

If you want something more hipster or cheaper, go to the "street food" outdoor venues, or go somewhere like Bird or Hoxton Hotel. All the markets are nice but a rip-off and tourist bait. Don't see what's wrong with Brick Lane to get a curry, it's cheap, fun to haggle for and you get what you pay for pretty much.
