your favorite fruit?
i fucking love lyches, they only sell them during winter, but man, the sweetness is great, you skin them like egg, and eat the juicy jelly inside, the smaller the seed the sweeter the pulp.
Love the taste of lychees, but the texture of fresh ones can be disappointing sometimes. I wish I could get a good supply of them or these somewhere local.
here in Amsterdam we can get so called dragon lychees from the Chinese stores. They are as big as a fist and have a seed as small as a mung bean. The thick delicious sweet meat fruity flavour of the flesh is just incredible.
Dragon fruit. Everyone seems to think it's tasteless but you're all eating it wrong. You slice it and then squeeze fresh lime over it and suddenly you have the most orgasmic fruit in the world. Also passiflora and papaya. And then mango and cherries for regular fruit
They're not pronounced 'leechee' in Mandarin. The closest way I can think of describing how it's pronounced is 'lee j-'. The 'j-' would be pronounced as though you wanted to say, 'I just pooped my pants' but then you second guess yourself and say, 'I j-... ust need to go see a man about a horse'.
The thing is that the closest way of describing that 'j-' in English writing is with 'ee' but its a completely different 'ee' to the one for 'ly'. Kind of like 'e' changes a lot depending on the word, like in 'the' and 'lemon'.
Lee-(soft)chuh kind of describes it. I spent 2 months living in suburban Xian after learning the language for 2 years. That's how all the guys selling them said it.
I tried too. Pronunciation is hard.
I still was spit on by older Chinese drunks while walking around town despite doing my best.
>TFW OP reminds me that I can't get fresh lychee where I live
Hey, does anybody know what the /ck/ archive is? I forgot and I can't find it on google. I know I've used it before. Pic unrelated.
Also my favourite fruits are yellow peaches/ nectarines, strawberries, limes, pineapple if it didn't burn my mouth so much. Mango is also nice. Tart fruits are my favourite. I actually live somewhere lychees are relatively common/ abundant but I'm not so keen on them. Grapes and melons are also mediocre.
I actually don't know the English name for this frui but Santol and green mangoes are my all time favourite. Especially when the green mango has a firm, yellow flesh and it still has that snap when you bite off a chunk. My mouth is watering just thinking about it
One time in high school my friend and I stumbled upon a lychee tree as big as a two floor house. We robbed that fucker and drove home with garbage bags full of bright red lychees. Now I hang out with another friend who has a small tree in his yard which produces lychees 100x crisper and sweeter than anything store bought. This is in Tampa.
Lychees > all fruit
Jackfruit it pretty tasty. Damn, now I need to buy one.
>nobody could get over the texture
If anything I'd compare the texture to the hugely popular fruit cups, which also happen to come in lychee flavor.
Make way for the best fucking fruit. faggots.
I'd have mangosteens for every meal of the day if it weren't for the fact that they're so gosh darn expensive.
You have to go straight to the source e.g. Thailand or Malaysia for the best ones. From my experience travelling around SE Asia, mangosteens are easily damaged and bruised during transportation, resulting in lower quality and more expensive fruits overseas.
Where can I find some passion fruit in NY?
I fucking love the way the inside of a nice papaya looks.
Too bad they don't taste very good.
What's so important about the lime? Is it just the complementary flavours or is it also the acid affecting the state of the fruit?
I'll try your suggestion but I'm not sure if it would even be good because I doubt the quality of the produce I can get. Do you have any tips for selecting good dragon fruit?
Ive only had longon, does anyone know how similar tastewise they are to lychee?
I'm surprised that these aren't more popular.
Lyche are too much of a pain to peel. Fresh guava are amazing. You can only get them imported though so they're hard and dry here.
I always buy guavas from walmart when I'm drunk.. And they're always horrible. Small and hard and bland. Don't know why drunk me always wants them.
My favorite fruit.. It's difficult. A perfectly ripe mango is amazing. But I love pineapple as well.
Probably have to go with a good mango.
Loquats are fucking great they grow everywhere in Los Angeles. There is always a huge tree on every block, you can just throw the seeds in your backyard and they will most likely sprout.
