When farmers keep growing corn, they make my ability to find gasoline without 10% ethanol cry.

We have a compost program. I don't often throw out (good) food, but when I do I'm just wasting money.

They're crying because you're not wasting food. If you wasted more food, you would have to buy more, which would supply them money. As it is, they have to waste the food for you, which earns them no profit. And that makes them a sad farmer.
