I've lived with several alcoholics, and I just don't see how this is possible. It's like 3+ handles a week (200 shot guy is pretty much on a handle a day). Your blood alcohol level would have to be like constantly >.2. Maybe you could do it if you literally had nothing else to do but drink all day, every day.

Yeah, you're pretty much just pissed all day. You don't have to be constantly sipping though. Supposedly a metabolism of one unit per hour is accurate for most people. I'm averaging about 20 units a night starting at about 10pm, and I'd say I probably do finally sober up by about six.

Turns out I fucked up on my math (probably drunk), and I'm closer to a something just over 100 measures a week (calling a measure 1.5 oz).

That's still around half a handle a day.

I was measuring everything I consumed for almost a year and entering it into MFP, and I usually had 18-20 oz before bed, at which point I would stop measuring and just drink until I passed out.

How would American drinking statistics change if you took Native Americans out of it?

I've just been on a camping trip for the last week and was drinking about 20 beers a day and having some wine and spirits at night. I don't drink this heavily all the time.
