Has anyone done/seen any recent mori hauls from Taobao? I'd love to see/read about them if so!
even since Aliexpress got the option to pay with IDEAL (I do not have a credit card), I have found it a lot easier to buy from there.
I know it a bit more expensive. But I cannot stand all the stress a Shopping service gives me.
Well, if you blog about it at all, I'd still like to see! Or post reviews here. I like seeing what people get.
I can do one since I'll finally be receiving my package this Monday.
I got these super cute wool thights on sale yesterday! I had been eyeing them for a while, so I was really happy to find them in a sale!
Oh I'm so sorry. English is not my first language so this is sadly a mistake I often make. Thanks for pointing it out!
They are from V&D, a Dutch warehouse that is going bankrupt. But the brand is Bonnie Doon. https://www.bonniedoon.com/en/onlinecatalogus/view/itemcode.bn551929/patchwork.tights/
I really want these tights. I believe they're from Franche Lippee?
I also really want some loose, light denim to style like this.
Look for light wash boyfriend style.
Those are the best style denim for mori/natural.
I got this pair in dark wash yesterday
Thanks! I know the general style, but it's hard to find pants that fit well because I'm rather small. I might need to look in the junior's section.
My taobao order should arrive soon, I just needed some basic tops.
Cawaii is going complete otona natural, so I'm making it a point to grab any older pieces I really like from taobao while they still produce them.
just google mori fashion you walnut
"Mori (which means forest) fashion uses soft, loosely fitting layers of garments such as floaty dresses and cardigans. It places an emphasis on natural fabrics (cotton, linen, wool) and hand-made or vintage accessories with a nature theme. The color scheme tends to be light and neutral, but patterns such as gingham and florals may also be used. In terms of hairstyles, bangs (often curled) and braids are very popular. Mori girls dress up like a girl who has walked out of the forest. It is similar to dolly kei in that the aim is to create a doll-like appearance, but in a more casual, earthy manner."
What is google?
But really, check the archives and at least a bit of your own research before asking.
To start, look/read here:
dearmisskellie's guide to mori (can't link because blogspot)
Googling "what is mori fashion/mori girl" will provide similar stuff.
To anyone who makes a new thread, let's try to provide some basic info/links in the OP post next time to avoid this and other basic questions like "can plus size girls wear mori?"
Bought a pink house dress. Planning to sew some more bags, shirts and skirts over the winter break.
That is the most mori insult I can think of and it warms my heart.
On topic, I just ordered this Liz Lisa sweater--not specifically for mori--but now I'm wondering if it can be worked in.
Here's another good thread from several months back that tackled the whole "dark mori" and lagenlook vs mori issues pretty well, I think.
I really love pic related.
I wish I had a good girl friend who would go for walks and picnics with me.
Yeah, if you check their current shop you'll see the focus has shifted to moms and natural clothes http://www.rakuten.ne.jp/gold/onepi-c/
Like the other anon said, it's a felt hat.
I would recommend kreuzzz on etsy, but the shop is totally empty. Still maybe check them out and look at their "sales" category to see what they used to make. I know they did custom stuff too.
Also realized that the link >>8784476 was missing one number: https://archive.rebeccablacktech.com/cgl/thread/S7750869
I really like tumisenlin.world.taobao.com for inspo, but I'm sad that pic related isn't in stock/a stocked item.
Mori makes me want to learn how to sew.
Sorry about that tiny image. Here's a close up of the bodice
How do you create this sort of watercolor look on fabric?
I love these tights! (Soulberry on rakuten)
I'll have to breakdown and use a shopping service to get them eventually.
I think this may be my next sewing project. It looks so cute, but I wonder if it would look right on a C cup. Whether it's mori girl or lolita, I feel like my chest is such a big problem.
I have a 96cm bust to be exact and dresses in lolita and mori girl just don't look the way I want them to when I wear them.I am thinking about getting a binder, but I hope just exercising will make them shrink. Anyway, a lot of the mori girl models I see have a smaller chest, so that is why I sometimes feel uncomfortable with what I wear.
I really want to make something like this.
I was sad when it sold out so quickly.
I found it on Kanful (secondhand clothing shop on rakuten). I like to keep an eye on this shop since they tend to get pretty good mori/moriable items
This type of dress is pretty easy to find on taobao.
Lots of different variations of it are out there.
Thanks! I really liked the Wonder Rocket one because of how nicely colored the denim is, but these are also cute.
Does any off you run a mori-kei related blog? There used to be a lot back in the ways, but now I am having a hard time finding any.
I always wanted to start one, but I have no idea what to write about. I am much more into the clothes than the whole 'ideal tumblr mori lifestyle'. And we do not have active communities to write about, like lolitas have.
No, but I kind of want to as well. I'm studying geology so I'm wandering outside (forests too!) pretty often, I own a polaroid and I'd like to read. So maybe talk about walks you took with cool pictures. Polaroid show off's, book reccomendations. Maybe even herb gathering in a forest to brew tea at home. Those kinda things.
I think these type of blogs might be better with more writers to one blog, to keep a stream of content going.
So does OP or anyone else want to actually contribute to the thread? I've posted all but maybe 15 of the images itt, and I'm not the one who made it.
If you're not going to stick around for the thread, why make one?
That does sounds amazing anon! Your life does sound like a blog I would love to read.
I'm also into photography myself, I own a polaroid but also a DSLR.
I would love to write a blog with others, but like I said. I am afraid I'll have nothing to write about.
recently got this dress for casual wear, but was wondering if I could incorporate it with mori? I'm usually more of a fairy kei girl, but I love the mori aesthetic & want to try it out
Thanks to the anon(s) for contributing!
I think this would work! I would suggest pairing it with a looser cardigan/shawl in a lighter color and some tights or socks with a bit of detailing or lace. Maybe even a very light, shorter, asymmetric skirt underneath.
A vest like pic related might be cute, too (not my favorite example for mori, but it shows the idea).
Don't reply and just report.
Attention is like cake to trolls and shit posters.
That plastic walnuts necklace is really tacky.
These aren't mori. It's bad taste nineties core. They give off a sad Clueless vibe.
Finally a fash that suits fatty chans!
What's a google machine?
Mori would be really easy to sew, since nothing has to be fitted. Imperfections? Slap some layers over it.
That looks easy. Find some jumper jeans and old curtains in a thrift store, sew them together.
Does anyone know of good mori shops that aren't aliexpress? I'm one of the few states that doesn't allow shipping from there and the last mori thread had a bunch of shops only from aliexpress...
How long have you all been mori girls?
I fell in love with mori girl from 2010-2012. From mori girl I became a classic lolita, but now I am drifting back to mori girl and really love natural kei (pink house.) I guess natural kei is my favorite of the three now, but I love all of them.
Please try to be selective with Pink House stuff, because a lot of it is actually natural kei, not mori.
Or at least post that it's nk so that even more people don't start to confuse the two.
If you can't do aliexpress or taobao, look into cawaii and wonder rocket (they've moved away from mori in the last few years but still put out a few good pieces once in a while). y!japan auctions is also pretty decent for picking up used moriable clothing on the cheap.
How about Favorite? They've got both a Rakuten store and regular webshop.
I quite like their stuff. I think they can cater to both mori and natural kei fans.
This is not me,
But this is. I don't want this thread to get derailed too. I understand if she/he is concerned by seeing how the dark mori girl thread turned out. Anon probably doesn't want the thread to get hijacked by natural kei pictures.
Yes, pink house and my other favorite brand axes femme is not considered mori girl, but can have mori girl items.
this coord was made with mostly axes femme items.
I'm seeing an increase in mori items listed on ebay, storenvy, and bits here and there on amazon, so search those places.
Also if you can purchase from Japan, try the second hand shops on rakuten.
Normal retail shops
I got into mori around 2012. I'm still into mori but am moving a bit more into natural as well.
I prefer brands like SM2, Chou chou de maman and Studio Clip.
I'm in love with this more English country aesthetic but I can't seem to find any pictures or much of anything of it. Can any of you help me? I've been trawling pinterest and knitting catalogues but there's only some overly posed models wearing ugly jumpers with some pseudo-Celtic patterns which isn't quite what I'm looking for (something a bit more romantic and girly)
I love looking at pinkhouse items.
So intricate, like they took so much time to sew.
This thread is a good source of inspiration for sewing. I think I am going to try to make a tote bag, hairpiece, and mori girl tank top before going back to work on Monday.
To be honest, I was sticker shock when I first saw how much some of the more intricate pink house dress cost used (300 USD or more.) However, some day I would like to afford one of these dresses.
This is cute.
I love-love-love these. I'm not big on browns, and I prefer black, so I like seeing the focus of an outfit to include black. I wish there were more layers to their outfit, so I could see how they play with color. I want to see more dark palettes. Most people who attempt it get into the dark mori category that's popular on tumblr, and it's cute, but not really mori imo.
Yeah, I would love to see more examples of it layered up, but they seem to keep that one basic.
Your best bet is probably checking out lookbooks for brands since I don't think I've seen any magazines for the style. Also in terms of knitting books, have you looked up anything by Rowan?
I want this cat dress sooooo bad, and the hoodie! Have no idea were I would even look for these
That image is a brand feature for Marble Sud (マーブルシュッド) so maybe try checking mbok or y!japan for the brand name every once in a while. The dress is from like 2011, though, so your chances probably aren't that great. Good news is that the brand seems to produce a lot of pretty cute stuff, with a good deal of it being cat or other animal related. Most of it isn't really mori-able, but that's whatever
I know this threads almost done, but have you guys seen the episode of Hotter than my daughter with the little girl who likes Mori? I guess it's not too fantastic but it's nice to see a different j-fash besides lolita in mainstream media
This girl used to be super well-known in the online community, it's been a while since her episode was brought up here. I can't remember what her username used to be, I don't think she dresses in this style anymore...
OH NO, THIS POOR GIRL. They made her look so awful - what did they do to her hair? It doesn't suit her at all. You can tell by the way she comments on it that she doesn't like it; she sounds like me, using that squeaky "s'good" because she doesn't want to be rude. Eugh, I feel so bad for her.
I've never seen this episode till now. I suddenly feel so sad and bitter...why couldn't her mother accept her for who she was...she seemed so sweet & carefree about her life. Being a Mori Girl made her feel comfortable.
wow I didn't need this feel....
Oh my word they RUINED her! She was so cute before! At best they should have plucked her eyebrows and maybe did something with her hair, but they completely fucked her up. This actually made me angry.
I remember now, she was sugarplummilk on Tumblr (don't go there, she must've changed her URL because it turned into a porn blog). I think I saw her reblogging a bunch of larme a while back but I don't really know what all she's been up to.
A lot of the brands that explicitly catered to mori girl at its peak have either changed direction or shut down entirely since the fashion went out of style. The ones that remain lean more natural-kei but can still be used, like SM2. People shared some links of places to buy stuff in this thread already, just go through the previous posts.
If you live in the US and have a little more budget room, Free People has a lot of cute clothes. Moriville on yessyle has some cute clothes too. I haven't used yesstyle in about 5 years, so I don't know how they are now.
Anyone got some mori head wear pictures?
Need some inspiration for when I mod my isolating earmuffs.
In Japan yes, it's pretty dead.
The extreme layering, and bag lady looks have been pared back for the most part.
Looks to me like Natural/Casual is the new mori.
