What exactly stops intellectual property theft, copyright infringement, etc in a Anarcho-Capitalist society?

Who creates a industry standard of testing and safety for medicine and medical procedures?
What about food and drink safety?

Can this shit even work? Is Anarchocapitalism as ridiculous as Communism in that it can't work?
>>
Seeing as this will never ever happen, stop even thinking about it. Just concentrate on the already difficult enough task of succeeding under the current circumstances, not imagining succeeding under entirely fictional circumstances.

You may as well just hypothesize about erotic harry potter fiction.
>>
>>1093727
intellectual property was a mistake
>>
>>1093767

Yes because we will kill ourselves to think and invent for nothing.... Go home bernie
>>
>>1093770
patenting ideas is anti competition and anti free market. the people with the best business model should succeed, not the people who are most protected by government.
>>
>>1093749
That's a good point but I'm just curious since I'm interested in economics and economic systems.

>>1093772
So people can just steal your hard work and make a competing product that is identical to yours but at a lower cost?

Seems a little bit dysfunctional to me.
>Create great software
>Someone cracks your software or steals sourcecode
>Sells it for 1/2 your price

That's not really healthy competition , that'd arguably not competition at all.

Anyway what about standards in drugs, medicine and food?
>Bad batch of drugs because not tested well enough
>5000 people die
>>
>>1093727
Who cares?

What I love about debate anarchists and anarho capitalists , I dont need an argument because your form of aociety could never exist longer than a lunar year (looking at you spain , and the zapatistas arent anarchists)

So no , it cant work. Were much more likely to see a star trek style post scarcity utopia than an anarchist collective on any scale
>>
>>1093806
Well anarchists and communists are just plain idiots with no understanding or forethought put behind their views but Libertarianism and it's abstractions are pretty interesting to me.

I agree though, a mixed economy is definitely necessary, although it is nice to live in tax havens as well as "what if"-athize.
>>
>>1093802

That's how Capitalism works, though.

The government stepping in to protect a business from someone who can do the same job cheaper is socialism.

Do you want socialism or do you want a free market?
>>
>>1093820
But is it really?

It's not he's out competing you in this hypothetical, he's simply stealing your work and selling it at a price severely undercutting yours.
>>
>Who creates a industry standard of testing and safety for medicine and medical procedures?

>manufacturer buys only materials that meet certain specifications
>manufacturer gives supplier the specification
>requires regular audits on the supplier's site
>checks materials to ensure conformance to the specs
>drops supplier if they fail to conform

The manufacturer has a reputation to uphold. For example no one will buy a company's airplanes if they keep falling out of the sky because of shoddy materials.

Most follow industry standards like ISO, ASTM, ect. Some write up their own standards and require suppliers to conform.

As someone who has gotten his IP ripped off before you are a faggot. I spent 5 months developing a web application and the company I was contracted out to develop it for stole my proof of concept and developed their own version. Because of IP laws I was able to sue in court and regain the money, time, and effort I was out due to the theft. In other words, die in a fire.
>>
>>1093727
That's where all the libertarians and capitalists scream "save me, mommy government!" like the little bitches they are.

Apple makes inferior products and charges more for them.

But because their >>1093772
>best business model should succeed

They make more money than anyone else by putting an apple logo on everything.

Faggots would be fine without patents.

It's not like the superior products wins today anyways.
>>
>>1093823

Of course, if there's no law against him undercutting me that way, he probably hasn't put money into security and I can just break into his shit and smash up the place.

The problem with undercutting is that you cut costs from important things to undercut the other guy, like having a good security system.
>>
>>1093802
don't buy drugs from unknown companies, problem solved. the companies who make shit products that kill people will go under, and people will but from reputable vendors.
>>
>>1093828
>muh anecdotes
>muh emotions

shrekli pumps up the price of a drug 5000% and people die and no one can do shit about it because of anti-competitive IP laws.
>>
>>1093889

How do companies distinguish themselves without trademark laws?
>>
>>1093727
Bad place to ask this question. There are a bunch of edgy NEETs here who have no understanding of business. "Free market" is a joke among business professionals.

Anarcho-Capitalism already exists. Ask anyone who outsources manufacturing or prototyping in Shenzhen, China. You get your designs stolen and replicated within a month, forcing you to innovate.

If you aren't competitive enough to innovate, you aren't competitive enough to function. Step it up, shitbitch.
>>
>>1093895
Nobody died. Stop being such a sissy fag. People were dying before the drug ever existed. It costs roughly more than a billion dollars on average to bring a drug to market and you want them to give it away for free? You oblivious jerkoff. Without IP laws the drug would have never existed in the first place since no company is going to shell out that type of money to develop a drug that their competitor is going to rip off. Stop being a dumbass.
>>
>>1093953
Which is why hardly any innovation comes out of China. Why would they innovate when they can just steal someone else's design?
>>
>>1093727
>Can this shit even work? Is Anarchocapitalism as ridiculous as Communism in that it can't work?

Anarchy only lasts as long as the time it takes for someone to build up enough power and control things.

How long would it take for a completely free, no-holds-barred anything-goes economy to generate a monopolistic powerhouse?
>>
>>1093727
You can't "steal" an idea: stealing implies that you destroy the original owner's copy.

Right now, patents are by far the largest roadblock holding back technological progress. Every single important technology, from the internal combustion engine, to the airplane, to the silicon transistor, to the 3D printer, has been needlessly locked away for decades because of patents. Consider that 3D printers are technology from the 1980's that are only now becoming useable because the patents on the shitty intial FDM ones are starting to expire.

There is no justification for patents. They don't even protect the little guy because not only do they cost about a hundred of thousand dollars to file, but to actually enforce it you'll have to go up against a crack team of hundreds of corporate lawyers. So in the end, patents are just a tool for big businesses to protect themselves by preventing the competition from innovating and putting them out of business. Patents are technological and economic cancer.
>>
>>1093973
>$100,000 to file
Blatantly wrong. It only costs $100 per page and you don't even need a patent lawyer if you do the basic amount of research. The filing of a patent is not a barrier to entry, it is the actual R&D costs which can run into the million or billions of dollars. How do you figure that a company takes all the risk and costs to develop a new innovation should be undercut so the company who actually designs the product loses money and the one who steals it makes money? What do you think would happen? No company would ever want to spend money on R&D ever again because they wouldn't reap any benefits. Nobody would ever want to spend money on innovation.

No marx was fucking like top 10 of the smartest ever, we just confirmed the gravitational fields einstein predicted a hundred years ago right? pretty impressive?

Marx as a diagnostician? fucking look around you - late stage capitalism , he knew this would happen over 150 years ago.

He was a genius, the problem is the treatment or ministration - how to solve it - apologists argue that the soviets had to become a totalitarian dictatorship because they couldn't keep the flame of international communist revolution alight but to put things simply , even if communist revolutions had swept the globe human vices like greed would have led to the same end results (shitty banana "republics" and dictatorships that can't centrally plan efficiently enough to compete with "wasteful" capitalism)

but "owners" of the means of production getting to have more of the value created by the workers is a delusional fantasy they rammed down our throats , the reality is that the technology simply doesnt exist for communism (and to an extent the resources, although besides the second law of thermodynamics causing us to overheat the planet I see no reason why we can't endlessly recycle most things by simply re engineering a lot of it)

No I was arguing about how derptarted ancaps and anarchists are, I'm very much in awe of communisms brilliance.
>>
>>1093986
Except that's bullshit and you know it. It costs $100k to file a patent that won't get immediately thrown out when challenged because it turns out that you actually do need a lawyer to cover the legal loopholes. That, and a company who sat on its hands and stopped innovating would quickly get put out of business by another company which was innovating. Removing patents doesn't remove incentive: it just increases the rate at which new innovations occur for a company to stay ahead.

A liberal Muslim homosexual ACLU lawyer professor and abortion doctor was teaching a class on Karl Marx, known atheist
“Before the class begins, you must get on your knees and worship Marx and accept that he was the most highly-evolved being the world has ever known, even greater than Jesus Christ!”

At this moment, a brave, patriotic, pro-life Navy SEAL champion who had served 1500 tours of duty and understood the necessity of war and fully supported all military decision made by the United States stood up and held up a rock.

“How old is this rock?”

The arrogant professor smirked quite Jewishly and smugly replied “4.6 billion years, you stupid Christian”

“Wrong. It’s been 5,000 years since God created it. If it was 4.6 billion years old and evolution, as you say, is real… then it should be an animal now”

The professor was visibly shaken, and dropped his chalk and copy of Origin of the Species. He stormed out of the room crying those liberal crocodile tears.

The students applauded and all registered Republican that day and accepted Jesus as their lord and savior. An eagle named “Small Government” flew into the room and perched atop the American Flag and shed a tear on the chalk. The pledge of allegiance was read several times, and God himself showed up and enacted a flat tax rate across the country.

The professor lost his tenure and was fired the next day. He died of the gay plague AIDS and was tossed into the lake of fire for all eternity.

>$100k to file
>need lawyers or else the patent gets thrown out
You have obviously never filed a patent in your entire life. You are talking out of your ass. I have at least 10 patents out there right now and just recently 2 years ago sold one of them to a big company. I can link them if you need more proof. It costs $100 per page to file. This isn't even debatable, it is just fact.

Also, you have no idea how companies work. "You need to innovate to stay in business" is a dumb comment. There are millions of companies in China that never innovate and just rip off designs from other countries. There never needs to be one more innovation for a thriving market to exist. As I posted previously it is rare for any Chinese company to come up with a new innovation because why should they? R&D costs eat into profit and they don't benefit at all from new innovations. If anything it would be a bad business move because they would never be able to keep up with their competitors prices. They would always have to price their product more to recoup innovation costs.

Read what Mark Cuban says about patents and IP laws

There is nothing to stop it and trying to its wasting your own money.

First one to market gets the prize

MS literally files thousands of patents every year for product ideas that they don't even have any plans to work on, just so they can sue those that do.

Marx is a hack who was btfo by Stirner. Also, this isn't "late stage capitalism". Marxists have been trying to destroy capitalist economies for years now (look at South Africa, you think the ANC appeared out of nowhere?), and now that its working, they point to that destruction and say "look, capitalism doesn't work!" when in reality its retarded socialist laws that are ruining it.

This isn't "late stage capitalism" there is no fucking late "stage" of capitalism, that was just some bullshit made up by Marx and the peasents fell for it hook line and sinker.

Marx was a dipshit, Communism doesn't acheive any of the goals it claims it does as has been proven time after time, and capitalism is not "failing".

I don't care anymore. I gave up trying to convince people the way forward ages ago. There's no point, because at the end of the day, the working class are just as greedy as anyone else and they've already decided they want to raid "the rich" for everything they have so they can live a life of luxery while flipping burgers. They don't deserve capitalism. I just concentrate on me, because even my family and friends are indoctrinated. They've got the scent of money and nothing is going to stop them raiding the pots until there's nothing left. And then there isn't and everyones dying of aids and famine, they blame "da evil capitalists!" again just like the South Africans before them. And that's how humanity will end stuck on this rock forever until the Sun swollows it up, all because they wanted to go partying every weekend, thought the latest i-phone is a basic human right and watch TV instead of reading a book.
