Does anyone have any experience working with wholesalers? I'm importing an alcohol from a foreign country and selling it to wholesalers and distibutioners. I have no experience with this, could someone give me some tips?
Sure. The business is all about respect, and trust.
Shave clean. Short hair, Dress respectively. God bless this, thank you sir that.
You want them to feel comfortable handing you millions of dollars, and knowing you won't steal, lie, or cheat.
Your REPUTATION is the ONLY thing you have. PROTECT IT!
You will run into lots of situations where you lose $5,000 but protect your name- DO THE RIGHT THING. IF YOURE MAKING $10,000 A WEEK, DO YOU WANT TO FUCK SOMEONE OUT OF 5K AND THROW IT ALL AWAY?
PROTIP: SOONER OR LATER AFTER ENOUGH GOD BLESS AND THANK YOU SIRS SOMEONE WILL TRY TO SET YOU UP WITH THEIR SINGLE, UNEMPLOYED DAUGHTER.
TURN. THEM, DOWN. NO. MATTER. HOW.HOT.SHE.IS!
One more thing- lots of clients will like to take 1,2,3, hours of your time PER PHONE CALL.
Chit chat, THEN close the sale.
After the sale is closed, have your secretary create some distraction for you, have her get on the phone line and say that there is a customer waiting for you, etc.
This cuts the conversation short by 1+ hours
How does one get into importing and selling a product? Specifically, how do you get the product into the hands of the wholesaler and how do you convince them it will sell? Do you have to promote it so retailers know it exists? Wouldnt it be easier to sell directly to a retailer if you were starting all grass roots?
I am getting it imported, we are shipping it from a warehouse to the wholesalers, the logistics of everything need to be worked out. Techically as an importer we are unable to sell our product to retailers, only to wholesalers; because of the 3 tier system of alcohol in the US
