Right now ether is getting shilled to the fucking moon on the interweb. please DON'T fall for it, you are making some russian nerds rich, who are going to virtually throat fuck you. Keep this thread alive so everyone won't maybe fall for this ether~shit.
Stay poor and mad. The price will go up for a straight month before you'll see a week where it doesn't rise.
This thread you made is the contrarian indicator that lets smart people know this shit is headed to the moon.
/biz/ hates Ethereum because it's extremely complicated, and there's nothing that compares to it in finance or undergraduate economics. This triggers /biz/'s classical insecurities about their education, wall street quants, technical trading, silicon valley, and HFT all at once, and in general makes them feel stupid
Every post about ethereum on this forum is either shilling or insecurity at this point
I am American and I am getting rich off this too.
How about that.
$1000 --> $2000 in less than a week.
You are just mad because you were too technologically inept to work out how to buy in while it was cheap.
Just as predicted by forbes in 2014
Damn those jews are smart!
My problem with Ethereum is what stops bugs in the code causing massive real world problems.
And with no roll back features what's there to fix these kinds of messups that will no doubt happen when you let ANYONE program ANY contract.
What are you going to beta test the contract code you write on?
How will this even work>
Maybe you should roll up your copy of the financial times put your bowler hat back on and fuck off back to the 70's
Well it adds freedom.
But I can see it, I want to pay for my bus tickets with a contract I program.
Oh shit, I bought the wrong bus ticket, now the company is dodgy and won't terminate the code.
Money is forever seeping out of my account.
Because of a coding error. There's no rollbacks.
Do I trust the bus company to write the code up?
What If I run a buisness and want to sell something? A major video game release? Woops there's a loophole in the code that no one thought of. My release flopped I just lost billions over a coding error? There's no rollbacks, no regulatory authority that I can plead to, to make it all right?
How will this actually function in the real world where we can't beta test contracts for 6 months before implementing it to buy a pizza.
Well, it's not even in Beta now, that's planned to be the next implementation. But I think the only way to be sure the contracts are kosher would be to read them first.
It's irritating. I just want to understand and be involved with the tech because I think it's cool, and here I am being stressed out about the price of tokens.
""We are currently focusing on only the very top of the architecture stack where legal prose is connected to business logic and we are effectively agnostic of the various underlying smart contract and distributed ledger technologies. There are quite a few different underlying technologies, such as Ethereum, that consortia and institutions are currently experimenting with and evaluating."
To the moon.
I agree with you its getting pumped hard and it's not smart to invest right now, but overall ethereum is a neat concept with lots of potential. I was so close to investing serious cash into it 3 months ago, but after this dump i will invest, and others should to imo.
>Try to mine with my 660 Ti
>Miner won't detect OpenCL
>I have cuda installed
Well, i guess i'll wait for bitcoin classic.
People still see ETH as just a coin, just another pump and dump game. I've been margin trading for 4 straight days now, I'm holding everything for the long run
Are you serious? I was pissed because I thought I mined some but then you guys said the testnet are not real coins. Today I open my wallet (not on testnet) and I have 46.05 ether. what the fuck.
Do some fundamentals on this shit. check the balance sheet of these company, check the SEC filings. It´s a pure pump and dump boyz.
I enjoy cryptocoin trading but the chats and forums piss me off.
>"OBVIOUSLY a dead cat bounce"
>"CLEARLY a bull trap"
99% of their tripe does not correlate to the market behavior at all. The worst part is, they seem to believe what they're saying.
I think it's intentional at this point, and I also think a major reason for all the shilling on 4chan is because this is still seen as a place to find intelligent members of the counterculture. Why else would anyone come here?
I think it's the inevitable future mate. More and more our industry is becoming tech orientated and industries keep replacing their workers for automatized production.
Of course I understand your fear of contracts with thousands of lines of code and the pain it would be to audit them, but this is still very beta so we should see how it progresses.
Yes, banks and regulators appear to be stuck there. On the other hand once you release your money from the friction of the creaking fiat system everything after that is frictionless plain sailing.
The only thing Ethereum is going to do is make coders fuck up far less.
If you seriously fucked up that badly that you had an infinite loop in your code, then you shouldn't be programming contracts in the first place.
Coders are just going to learn not to fuck up and to think about the concepts of what they code before they release it.
Think about the big corporations that are going to lose money, if and when, they go about using Ethereum to try and cut out third parties. Think about all of the scams that people are going to pull, and guess who will take the brunt of it all? The coder who designed the dapp/contract. Ethereum are going to turn a swath of code monkeys into underpaid bootlicking code monkeys.
Ethereum/whatever succeeds is going to make coding a low-paying blue collar job for the next generation.
You're going to have a conversation with your grandson about how he can't decide on the military, a coding job, or a hyperloop train mechanic.
Well theres a white elephant if I ever saw one.
I wouldnt want to be a us taxpayer when that shit gets funded
They cant even get the channel tunnel to turn a profit i dread to think what will pan out with that novelty train set
It cant even carry freight and is slower than a plane. Why cant america just get hyundai to build an actual high speed rail system are they dumb
>To the moon.
wh....who...who are you people
Dont sell your ETH because its going down because of the Kraken maintenance, tomorrow it will rise again and we will all be fine.
ETH isnt a pump and dump, give it a while to get going.
Its going to take a while for ETH to rise but a crypto currency that gets shilled on /biz/, reddit, several websites and youtube channels and gets a place into Microshill Azure isnt going to go down just like that.
Give it time, we got the Brutus of BTC in our hands.
Days from now you're going to be wishing you bought double.
I want to buy in because i know it will go up in value because a lot will invest. I do not think it will actually work of course. but if I Invest wait for it to go up then want to sell for real cash how would i do that? What could you even buy with this currency if you couldn't get back real cash. That is the main reason i am wary of investing in this.
>a crypto currency that gets shilled on /biz/, reddit, several websites and youtube channels and gets a place into Microshill Azure isnt going to go down just like that.
>a crypto currency that gets shilled on /biz/, reddit, several websites and youtube channels
So... you mean just like every other shitcoin?
>Hey Fred, how is are we going to make this shitcoin different from the rest?
>I don't know Bill, but maybe if it gets more love then people will buy it
>What about real world application?
>Naw let's just throw around a rumor that banks are using it
>Wtf, banks are really using it?
>No, that's just what were going to say
>Fucking brilliant, Fred.
>>Eth isnt a pump and dump
>>gets shilled on /biz/, reddit, several websites, youtube channels
You pretty much just outlined the reasons why it's a pump and dump. Microsoft is, again, going to be taken for a ride. The poor schmucks will never learn.
They're just supporting it because they believe that it could be the future for coding. But they don't realize that their cloud computing platform is going to get royally fucked whenever the MAID system and Storj comes online along with Eth just being one giant bubble concocted by some Russian who had the bright idea to conjoin a coding language and a cryptocurrency.
Back on track better strap on your moon boots this one will be bigger than the last
All aboard the eth train! We're going to the moon boys!
>run-time is extremely slow
>highly expensive computations
>computational decisions take 60s
I'm thinking of buying $100 in Ether just for kicks.
Also I have a mac, so what's the best way to buy some and store it on my computer?
I don't know anything about macs. But you can store it like bitcoin in a paper wallet generated here: myetherwallet
>not buying dogecoin
>buying shitty ether coins instead
>also this is now a DOGE thread
Are you fucking retarded? Where you born a sperg? Did your mother drop you? The reason it takes forever is, because of the financial crisis. Banks will not give you a loan until they check your grandmas pussy.
This system is so complex the Founders literally tell you they don't know what it is. This is good for a short-term investment, because they are trying to shill their complex product before anyone figures out its trash.
Won't this just go to the moon since people in general are pretty stupid? I mean can't it consistently go up and be bullshit? I'm seriously considering buying a lot on that logic. I'm pretty drunk though idk. I'm gonna do it.
I look at the candlestick charts of ETH/XBT and see a shadow dump every day of a large volume of ETH. It averages out to 15%-20% drop in ETH/XBT every day someone does this dump, but the market recovers.
What does this mean? Who does large dumps almost on a daily basis?
