Well I hate accountants because in my industry we have huge problems with loud mouth accountants thinking they know more than they do, especially when they blab to clients who actually trust these bozos.

Accountants often have to give advice and can branch out to consulting type shenanigans where they guide a business in the overall strategic direction that they think it should go.

That's not really imagination, more like analysis. None of that involves actually creating something that will make people's lives better, or changes the economy in any fundamental way, it's just an assessment of what company X needs to do in order to make Y shekels, with the priorities being defined by company execs, not by accountants themselves at any stage

But, yes, I have heard this kneejerk response before when accountants are described as unimaginative.

For the general public, because it's boring.

For someone working at a company, they both over exaggerate their importance and when they fuck up they say not their problem. Auditor misses million dollar multi year fraud that would be uncovered under slightest scrutiny? "Audits don't guarantee against fraud"
