Why did Jarrod being a pedophile not impact subway sales in the slightest? Doesnt this go against everything we know about business?
Because Subway knew about Jared's shit way before he was accused of it.
Subway made a huge effort to use him less and less in their campaigns (by using Michael Phelps and shit instead), which signaled to the consumer that the company is moving on from Jared.
Whenever the news broke everyone didn't really give a fuck. Hell, the "additives that are in shoe polish was found in Subway bread" hurt them way more than this.
Why? Because they were fucking with the consumer first-hand.
Subway consumer after food additive news: "FUCK! HOW COULD THEY FOOL ME, THE CONSUMER, WITH THIS SHIT? MY MEATBALL MARINARA WILL NEVER TASTE THE SAME!"
Subway consumer after Jared news: "Jared kept child porn on his computer? Cool, the nigga aired in a few commercials and shit but that doesn't affect the taste of their succulent meatball marinara that I love! :)))"
tl;dr: if u think like a /b/tard, then you can become the greatest marketer/trader known to man.
I haven't seen a jared ad or promotion in nearly a decade, his tie to subway was basically nonexistant by the scandal
he's also like an f- celebrity so it didn't make that many waves like Cosby
Subway had distanced Jared from their marketing campaign. They shifted from a "Subway can help you lose weight" message to a "food for athletes" marketing campaign, with athletes like Michael Phelps, RG3, etc.
Also when the news came out, Subway IMMEDIATELY dropped him as a spokesperson and demonized his actions.
The dihydrogen monoxide hoax involves calling water by the unfamiliar chemical name "dihydrogen monoxide" (DHMO), and listing some of water's effects in an alarming manner, such as the fact that it accelerates corrosion and can cause severe burns. The hoax often calls for dihydrogen monoxide to be regulated, labeled as hazardous, or banned. It illustrates how the lack of scientific literacy and an exaggerated analysis can lead to misplaced fears
