Easy question: What is the best investment you've ever made?

My camera. It landed me a job where I got paid to travel the country, and has paid me back many times over.

Worst is probably my car. even though it was used and I bought it for only $5k, as soon as I drove it from California to texas, the engine mounts broke, and the A/C broke, $2k spent immediately, then transmission broke $3k, now brakes for $800. I've already spent over $10k for my car and still have a year left on payments

OP here, it's pretty clear cut for me. I bought Facebook the day it IPO'd and held it. got it for 38 bucks a share and its more than tripled by now.

I really wish i hadn't just put a grand into that

Worst investment: Handed a friend of mine 4k for his "startup". long story short it was shit and i didn't see one red cent back from that.

I stayed late after work to help oil traders get their m-t-ms and deals in order. I was a lease crude buyer. I bought oil at the well head from producers. One day a VP of oil trading had a problem: couldn't sell his oil. Told everyone to call all the people they knew to see of the oil could be sold. I opened a directory and started calling oil company VPs. Found one who would take it all. Told boss, he called and made the deals. Then told me to move next to his office and he would make me a junior oil trader. That was 35 years ago. It's been a wonderful life with plenty of thrills and pussy.

Best investment: Staying late and helping when it wasn't required of me. Can't think of a bad one; some not so great but I am good at risk management and cut losses before they cut my wallet.

My education -- its the thing that has allowed me to have any sort of life beyond a trailer park.
