I have some contacts in China who run a few different factories (eye glasses, water filtration, lights, CCTV systems, probably more), and should be in a prime position to buy stuff in bulk and sell for a decent profit in the west.

I guess my question is, where would be a good place to start? An ebay store, or my own website? How do you break into a market, approach small stores or head offices of retail giants with product samples?

Pretty much the only thing I know is that these companies don't have exclusive contracts already with my country (Australia), so I should be good to go.

Another question would be: What part of the chain is easiest? Being a wholesaler/middle man, or end retailer?

Since the products would be in the thousand(s) per order, I'd much prefer to wholesale.

1. Drop ship. Don't hold stock, don't management fulfillment

2. For everything you sell, ensure it is under a brand that you own and control.

3. Sell to all nations on earth, Australia is a small market.

4. Get a UPC for all your products (universal product code).

5. Sell through Amazon.

How do you actually dropship without just giving your money away to chinks that are selling their products for near wholesale prices themselves?

1. Sounds good. Some things I won't be able to, due to minimum orders straight from factory. But others I can.

2. Never thought about this, I'll read into it.

3. Sounds good, I just figured I'd start with the country that I'm in, since I have literally zero experience. But could definitely expand internationally.

5. Sounds good. Any reason you recommend Amazon over ebay or others? I guess it'd be easier than setting up own website.
