Neither the Americans nor the Soviets could havw bested the Third Reich alone, even with Hitler's shitty strategic meddling. I think the doctrine of focusing funding on carriers isn't very wise. I want to take the time to explain something to you. The axis powers had conquered all of Europe before US involvement. Churchil and Gaulle both adopted a policy called, get this "Appeasement" hoping if they gave Hitler what he wanted he wanted fuck them up more, which didn't work well for France or England. After Hitler invaded France the military was done for and England's military was severely crippled. England could have continued bombing germany but it's known it wouldn't have had any significant impact. The allies before US came in were badly losing the war the only other helping hand that could stop the axis powers was the Soviet union and it had a non aggression pact signed with Germany.


TL-DR Europe was losing the war to Germany, most of Germany's loses came from Russia but US helped greatly in getting a foothold on europe's soil in france.
