Atheists literally believe there was absolutely nothing, not even empty space, and then in a few billionths of a second all the mass and energy in the universe just suddenly appeared out of nowhere.
It's so ridiculous when you sit down and think it through.
Yeah, and who made god? was there absolutely nothing before god?
God exists outside of time. He is not bound by our laws. God is and always was, there was nothing before him.
You can't say the same thing about our universe because all science points to a beginning.
>Implying that atheism is about belief
You need to understand that only the 13 y/o faggots claim that god doesn't exist.
Lack of belief is the proper term, we can't prove that god doesn't exist, but we lack the belief in his existence.
>/b/ is too retardet for philosophy anyways
No, they believe that which we define as our universe (i.e. that whose laws may be determined via measurable relations) began in such a manner, and all otherwise is undeterminable in all regards.
ofc god doesn't exist. We made this "God" to blame all the wonders of the world on a dude, because we simply do not understand that something can be this big and timeless.
>still being this dumb
Omg, the shittiest bait worked
No its not called agnosticism, it is near I know.
I like to call it original atheism or weak atheism - You lack the belief in his existence.
>Agnosticism claims that no one knows, hence they believe.
I've had a lot of this conversations, and talked about it with a lot of people about it.
God by definition is all powerful and all knowing right? If this is true it's a paradox.
If he is all powerful he should be able to creat information he did not know previously. If he does this, he doesn't know everything, therefore not a god because it goes against his basic definition. If he can't create the information he is not all powerful therefore once again, not a god.
ofc i can't prove, because we can't prove anything at all, we can only deal with chance and probability, but if you look in the bible, you can clearly see that its human material and not anywhere near the complicity of things in the real world we later discovered with science. That religion is still a thing still a thing, suprises me everytime i hear someone rambling about god.
Why not believe that spiderman is real? Why not believe shrek is real? But what are the chances of that being real, not really big. So why keep opressing people with this propaganda bullshit.
We need some some education up in this bitch.
What I can't understand is why theist push this idea that intelligent design IS the only answer. Have you not considered that there are millions of other possibilities when it comes to the creation of the universe and that you are just a dumb fuck by pushing the only idea your parents fucked you up with?
You think for real that the bible is bullshit?
Been on numerous lectures, check it out
Yeah there is fiction in the bible, thats for sure, I agree but the bible seems to be historically accurate, which is cool with me.
>We can't prove anything
Yes, and we shouldn't because we look like retards.
You're just stupid. Atheist believe Satan created the universe. Idiot. get your facts straight before you talk shit
>implying earth exists
No OP atheists don't all believe that. All atheists do is not believe in any gods. Atheists can think wtf they like about how the world is here, doesn't have to be based on science.
All atheism means is "don't believe in gods". Nothing more.
A cyclic view of the universe makes sense to both religious and secular people.
It's so ridiculous when you sit down and think it through.
oh you've been to lectures. then everything you say must be true. get real nigga, its 2016.
take a history book or geography book from 1800's or some shit, and compare it to a scientific article and see the differences. Then compare one of the bible's bullshit stories to a current explanation scientific explanation, and then im sure you will see what im talking about.
You will feel empty, because its scary to know that there is no god, but none the less true.
Listen /b/ros, I am no philosophy major but I am kinda experienced in the field.
For the sake of humanities I will try to teach you philosophy basics on believing, atheism and theism.
>What is confusing is the word play, lack of belief and belief of non-existence is different, keep that in mind!
>Atheism was originally supposed to be lack of belief, but over time people started to believe(in god's nonexistence)
>Atheism is now seperated in two:
>Weak atheism(agnostic atheism)(lack belief in god's existence)
>Strong atheism(claims god doesn't exist)
Now Theism claim that god does exist, which is also illogical.
>Claiming something without proof is illogical
>God can't be proven or disproven - Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence(Important to note that this is not bullshit and taught around the globe)
>Denying god's existence and saying that he exist is - illogical
>What is not illogical is lack of belief, which is absolutely normal
Matter did not just appear out if nowhere you dumb shit; all matter was condensed in a single point. There is evidence that supports The Big Bang, for instance: Cosmic Background Radiation.
I lack belief in god's existence, but if you do open a history or geography book from 1800 you will find that most of it is heavily influenced by the Enlightment and Nationalism - which is not good.
I actually study History and archeology, and yes THE BIBLE DOES CONTAIN A LOT OF HISTORICAL TRUTH(mind that historical truth can be proven and disproven anytime)
I've been to numerous lectures, and yes you should believe me, a quick search on the net might work.
We just don't feel the need to fill in the blanks in our knowledge with religious explanations.
Science believes, whatever existed before the Big Bang is meaningless, because we'll probably never know, so for the time being it's assumed it's irrelevant.
So not LITERALLY BELIEVE NOTHING EXISTED BEFORE THE BIG BANG,
Also, it does leave the possibility of God existing, EVEN NOW.
but you know, we just can't measure or see or even infer any readings from God, even though if he was invisible, we could get some reading from his influences on ANYTHING in the real world.
Which we don't, use to leave room in science for God, but systematically, in a diverse amount of fields, have come to the overwhelming conclusion from a myriad of different scientific minds over centuries, that there's no God(s).
But maybe you're personal emotional feelings and special unique look at literally no evidence or comprehension of mankind's greatest discoveries might be correct.
I doubt it. Pics or it didn't happen.
who cares if it contains historical truth. Its a bullshit book made to make people act like good people, by forcing them to believe in some fantasy novel, because we even then were fucking shitty at making great communities.
If you study history, you of all should know that history is always relative and nothing is true. Relying on a book like the bible would be straight up insane.
I can write a book, make up a story, pass it on to future generations and let's see how twisted the story will be 2k years later. I'm not saying the bible is all wrong but you cant rely on textbooks with no actual facts or events that are even close to our times. You need science. Living in the shade of books makes you delusional and it creates wars around the world on whether who has the greatest story.
>there never was a beginning nor an end.
This is the statement that was made before the discovery of the big bang
>it is more of a torus like a red blood cell
This is the best hypothesis (not even close to theory) about an eternal universe without a beginning.
String theory (More like string hypothesis) does the opposite, it says that each universe is limited in its life, but there are nearly infinite universes.
Both of these views hold little to no evidence, but the evidence of a Big Bang does exist.
We have scientific evidence that the universe is expanding from a central point. What existed before the big bang is unknown. Just because it's unknown it doesn't mean that religion needs to be the placeholder there.
Relying on anything is insane, this is why I said it can be disproven anytime. The difference is that we search the truth in the bible, we do not use the bible as a guidance. Get the difference now?
A lot of the events that happened in the bible were proven to be true(for the time being)
Biblical archeology is huge, and there are a lot of things that are confirmed already.
I've met one of the bigger archeologist in the sphere, while he was in Sofia(Bulgaria)
He was atheist, but still said that the bible was a great book, not because of its historical value, but because of its power on the human psyche, It can get you through hard times if you look at it from different perspective.
>A lot of great minds said that the bible is the greatest book of all time.
What if the big bang was the cause of another universe eventually coming together due to gravity. Then it was some kind of super star that supernova'd. I don't know, I am just a random idiot.
