ITT: /b/ realizes how stupid they are for not knowing that an Intel i5 is objectively better than an Intel i7 for gaming. Not even talking about bang for buck.
what the ooga did you just say, you little booga?
No shit sherlock, you don't fucking buy a cpu for its gaming performance. You buy a decent gpu with a decent i5 or i7. Only an i7 if you do a lot of multitasking like rendering, streaming and high performance gaming at once. Heres a place where you can splooge this shit because no one on /b/ cares
Hyperthreading which means that the CPU has more than 4 threads to do it's processing on increases the temperature of the CPU without providing any benefit in gaming. This is because no games are made to utilize more than 4 threads because it's a huge pain in the ass to make games that way. 4 threads which is the amount of threads an i5 has is already a pain for them.
Well, it does make an argument that an i5 is suitable at all, i guess. Still not how it's superior to an i7. I never have temp issues when gaming because I'm not a fucking pleb.
wew lad, get back to school
This is true but I doubt that many people are going to be running 4k set ups with max graphics and etc. I know games like GTA and the witcher care about cpu hyperthreading, core performance and clocks but for the majority of gaming a normal i5 or i7 should be more than enough. Good point though
>someone somewhere actually thinks this
I have had the comp i;ve had for 3 years, and have not over heated once. I play everything on its highest setting as well.
I say the same thing. You may have perfectly good reason to like your i5, but i have no regrets about my i7
That's also true. But my laptop doesn't have over heat issues ever. Sometimes the fans run high, but a good system, and being a non-scrub who knows to clean their pc periodically can get years out of his system.
I'm this guy.
>Talks about cpu's for gaming
>not a single mention about graphics cards
Op is a poorfag who cant afford an i7
Also the superduper secret brotipp was to buy a Xeon CPU, same as the i7 without the integrated graphics but a lot cheaper.
Unfortunately that doesnt work with the newest generation, you need a workstation board now.
great now post a graph for every other fucking game ever and I will believe you.
you said "no games use HT" remember?
You're forgetting something though, What if I want to watch a movie on a second monitor or stream my play. Run a listen server from the rig im playing on or play one of the games that can use HT?
Sure i5 is subjectively better for gaming, EG if price matters but its not objectively better.
