Some are motion detection but most are just sound detection, although I just turn them on and leave them recording. These small cameras have 1 hour, 1hour twenty minutes top but I figured a way to allow them to record for hours. I just replaced their batteries of 3,7 volts a couple hundred miliamps with 3,7 volt and over 1000 miliamp ones from cell phones. The important thing is to be the same voltage, more amperage means more recording time. I charge them through USB as usual though it takes longer.

These are most of the cams I have used. Not the best of the best quality but whatever. I should get a wireless one from ebay. They are very small and supposedly good quality. Just be cautious. One mistake can cost you more than you can imagine. Ruined family/friend relations is the least consequence. And always place a duplicate of whatever setup you might decide to use in it's place after you retrieve if after recording. Disappearing and reappearing items inside a bathroom might seem suspicious to a paranoid person.
