uhh, well I had been improperly prescribed with a pretty heavy psych medication called seroquel for years. This medication is normally given to extreme cases of bipolar disorder and schizophrenic people. It was given to me to treat simple insomnia. The shitty doctor gave me way too high of a dosage and it fucked me up pretty bad.
One day, after having been taking it every day for two years straight, I stopped cold turkey because it was making me gain weight and I was tired of it, and uh. that was a bad idea. The following month was... really difficult and bizarre. I became emotionally attached to insignificant things I was exposed to at all during this time on an autistic scale. I had just bought Code of Princess and Marco Neko was one of the first things my autism latched onto, noticeably more severe than any of the others, for some reason.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not entirely blaming a prescription medicine for my oddities. I certainly had symptoms of autism well before that but that shit most definitely heightened it to new unseen levels of force.

anyway... I'd appreciate that.

I think that's been an issue because everyone who has come from different gens has stated what it means to be a drawfag to them, messing up what the next/current gen's idea of the word means. Other's just do whatever they like and have been doing that from when they started.

A few years ago threads like this were unheard of. The idea of barging in on another drawfag's threas was seen as rude and looked down upon. The drawfags was a performer, and the thread the stage. If you wern't good enough to keep a thread going, you didn't make them.

Drawfagging now is a lot more comfy, because good or bad, everyones all huddled into the same thread together.

Instead of "do requests or die because your shit will 404" people pick or choose what they maybe want to draw.

Storylines happen every once in a while, but they eventually get cluttered and forgotten.

Also I draw a lot, like I want to do this for a living a lot. The reason I like Drawthreads is because its liberating. On here I don't have to be critical of my work, or beat myself up over mistakes which I do with all of my work. I don't have to feel like I'm being judged harshly, like my life depends on my art being beautiful (like I feel everytime I put pencil to paper). It gives me freedom to just draw, without restraints. I feel like I can just draw for fun again... I can never draw for fun anymore. You guys give me that.
That's why I like Drawthreads: they just mean a lot to me.

Ara ara~ Its hard to pinpoint really. The shift was slow. When I started around 2007/08 individual threads were definitely still a thing. When people made requests they were usually simple funny things they wanted to see instead of the free commissions people ask for now.

But more and more people started huddling in single threads on /b/ and spent more time on other sites as well. Then around 2010-2011 ish individual threads started to die off. There were still people who would do them, even on /r9k/ of all places, but the norm was big circlejerk threads like this.

What I mean when I say no more fun is... Well my life, as it is now, isn't in the best of places. I mean its not bad, but I want it to be better. I don't know how to do much, I'm okay at some things, but art is the only thing I've ever been good at. So everyday its pen to paper, practice, practice, practice, work, work, work... that's it. I'm drawing myself out of a hole, so I can't have fun. God knows I want to, God know its what got me into drawing in the first place (the fun). But life hit, and it hit hard, now its all work to me. This is my only escape from it. I come about once a month and stay up well into the AM just drawing and drawing, because come tomorrow, its the same old stuff. Sorry didn't mean to give you a sob story, its just why I can never down a Drawthread or any request given. Sometimes I'll do them, but other times...
