I am saying that communities and organizations world wide will not only neglect to offer you the support they offer others, but actually start to work against you, based only on your lack of faith.
Funny, how atheists make fun Christians who worship a skyman, but at the same time pratically worship some ugly ass dude from the UK, that wrote some fucking book that is now their Bible. - From Deist Anon

The belief that you have an unseen supporter to assist you.
The fellowship of what is usually a majority of people.
The promise of heaven.
A get-out-of-guilt-free card. You don't have to say you're sorry. You don't even have to make amends. All you have to do, is repent.

yeah, welcome to the world we live in.
I'm not Christian but I still go to church on Sundays. Why? Because it makes my quality of life significantly better to have people locally that rally together
>>575840393
The difference there is that not every Atheist licks some dude's cunt. Christians ALL believe that there is some dude in the sky.
if i'm an athiest and god is real and after i die i'm condemned to hell for all eternity, how can it be my fault for not believing in god when i asked to see proof he exists, but he never gave me a sign i understood as proof?
Dear Christians.
Do you literally believe in God? Like, do you actually believe that there is an immortal being who resides in an alternate plane of existence, and this being created everything to ever exist? Do you actually believe that he is our king, or god, that we are all equal mortals living in his literal kingdom, and are bound to his laws as peasants are of kings? In b4 mockery of overuse of the word literally, but is this what you actually, honestly, literally believe to be the state of the universe?
If not, you're not Christian.
Also, Christians, answer pic related, please.
>>575840598
All our modern interpretations of hell are based on Divine Comedy, which has absolutely no basis in anything. Most proper depictions of hell simply explain it as being far from God. That's it. Nonbelievers don't want to be with God, he gives them what they want.

But a member of my parish does. And he live 2 doors down.
Even if he isn't around, I'm sure one of the 8 volunteer firefighters in my parish would jump at the opportunity to help
and Dave from my parish is a contractor. He'd probably help me restore my basement for much more reasonable rate than I'd get anywhere else.
Just because that's what we do for each other.
>>575842002
every single different kind of church I've ever been to you always discourage the girls from dating younger men and always steer them toward older males who were financially stable.they're always trying to get the young men to go away somewhere to do a mission or go off somewhere and I was trying to persuade the girls they didn't need to go anywhere in life(for the most part) or at least this is definitely how it feels to me
#1 Benefit of praising God: You get to be a shiity person with a clear conscience. Just pray for forgiveness. It's like having a psychologist inside your head who already knows everything you know and tells you you're right even though you're clearly wrong. Why? Because God is a figment of your imagination designed by man for exactly that purpose

Yeah. Churches vary.
I went religion shopping for a bit when I moved into town.
The local Protestants were pretty shitty but the Catholics were a good bunch. Great schools and a large parish. Surprisingly, they were pretty secular. Not big on the whole fundie stuff. I'd estimate about 15-20% are agnostic or even atheist.
They had more of an "exclusive community" vibe
So yeah, joined them

That's an interesting one. I suppose it has to do with brain development; we're by far the most adaptable species on the planet, and part of it is the sheer amount of energy that goes towards brain growth and use. We have a food source that doesn't require teeth (milk) until they grow in, in which we can eat food that is prepared for us or is extremely soft. Not to mention that the concept of tooth rot is fairly new, considering we weren't meant to eat sugars and other enamel melting substances. Some instances of entirely isolated communities have no work done on their teeth but they are just fine, considering that their diet is near immaculate.
Hope this clears it up, if not opens more intelligent discussion.

>>575843837
OP is asking about Christians, not Atheists.
>>575842390
Not necessarily. Some denominations are real shit about it, like Calvanists, who believe that as long as you're in God's book you can do what the fuck ever and you'll still go to Heaven. Catholics on the other hand, what I interpret to be one of the more 'true' representations of actual Christ-like practice, believe that it is your good deeds that help you into heaven. The rites of confession are often accompanied by requirements that you right the wrongs you confessed to, pay penance in the form of prayer, and work actively on improving yourself. It's beautiful in a way, knowing that God forgives you and wants you to be happy by having you right your wrongs.
>>575843860

And Hamsters can get stepped on. Shit happens, we have nerves for a reason (to avoid those sorts of scenarios). And since most people didn't live off of a diet of extremely sugary fruits (since fruit as we know it in 1st world countries didn't exist in that form) then their teeth would have been ok for the amount of time that they lived.

Not even Christan, currently a Deist/Agnostic. I was raised Catholic and I'm very accepting of different beliefs, Atheism included. The problem that we face is that people are absolute assholes, Catholics and other Christians included. You find assholes everywhere, in every group, and there's no way to escape it all. I hate assholes. There are some Atheists I refuse to talk to because they're irrational and condescending. There are some Catholics I refuse to talk to because they're disgusting and hypocritical. It's about finding people that are genuine in their beliefs that's a challenge, but when you do find them they can be friends for life, regardless of what they believe.

But in reality no one knows, and they're not supposed to know. That is the point of life, to re-learn everything over and over and over again.

Depends on the Christian.
I'm a Christfag, but I don't regularly go to church because of how dense people are down here in the bible belt. I'm huge into science, and firmly believe that the bible was a scripture written for the retards of the era, who were not capable of understanding that time has been going for billions of years.
And regardless of my belief, scientific progress must always come first; a society cannot advance if they remain content with their current life, which is what a religion can do to a person. I'm always open to new ideas, new concepts and new doctrines. If someone tells me that my faith is wrong, I'm not going to throw a fit and start a fight, I'm going to listen to whatever points they have and make logical counterpoints where I can, and concede where I cannot.
Thanks to this line of thinking, I have many friends who are Christian, and many who are atheist.
Science is power, yo.

>benefits of being a Christian
You don't have the burden of figuring out the universe because you already know what happens when you die and what the universe is.
>Reality
No one knows
>My two cents
No one is supposed to know. That is the point of life, to re-learn everything over and over and over again.
This is why we do not take memories with us when we die... Memories are stored in your neurons.. which are physical and die with your body.
This information (neurons, atoms, stars, etc) was not known to people who created the religions we know of today, yet it was meant to explain those things because they were unexplained at the time
Religion back then is basically an explanation of the universe at a time where science wasn't around to actually explain it.
Religion today is pseudoscience aka "traditions" that help ease people with extreme psychological issues like life after death, birth, etc.
TL:DR if the people who created religion had the scientific tools and knowledge we have today, almost all religions would be dramatically different.
>>575847465
>>575847559
The one thing that really keeps me from completely laughing at religion is, how did so many ancient civilizations (that supposedly had no contact whatsoever) come up with the ideas of living deities and divinity? It's a really weird coincidence, people forget that it wasn't just a basic human instinct to think of actual individual beings with names.
Then again, a lot of those civilizations had a LOT in common. Maybe they really were all in contact with one another, and we just don't know it.
