ITT: Metal thread.
Post whatever. Favorite band(s), album, whatever you're currently listening to, local music, etc.
And fuck off with the elitist bullshit. Nobody gives a dick whether such and such band is progdeaththrashfolkindiepunkcore or not.
Listening to some Rage
Kinda cliched but I like it. Most other Viking metal bands are laughably stupid.
lol i was listening to this yesterday, First song of the album is 10/10 genuinely awesome,
generally, I loved the first and the last songs the best, others were good too but those two were the better ones.
Favorite bands? Oh boy, haha. I have a lot from every genre so it will be pretty diverse.
Iron Maiden (Dianno and Dickinson era, equally)
Protest The Hero
Scale the Summit (favorite instrumental prog)
The Heavy Eyes
Desert rock all the way
I've heard of Silent scythe before, for sure! Totally forgot about them and was just thinking of some of their songs lately... thanks dude, totally going to add some of their stuff on my ipod
yeah are you kidding, shades of.. is one of my top albums ever.
mathfags this is the best the genre will ever get:
I played their opus eponymous debut like 20 times in a week, got bored afterwards.
Elizabeth and Ritual are still on my playlist tho :D
What is your opinion on Dagoba?
I really dig their album "Face the Colossus"
That albums is amazing.
It keeps building til there is nowhere to go,
and ends up imploding on itself sonically
forgot to link track from my first post.
im on a roll today
Here are my comfiest for all time albums
Seven - Cymatics
Proghma-C - Bar-Do Travel
S.t.r.a.i.g.h.t. - nejsem tvuj spasitel
Saturate - The point of no return
Hesus Attor - Senorai
Indukti - Idmen
This is from The Mountain as well.
I think it's almost perfect musically
also, both of the bands are from the InsideOutMusic record label. They have a youtube. Some really good prog metal on there
OP is most def not a fag for this one
One of my faves and most brutal american grind.
Anybody else love Obscura? Omnivium is one of my favorite albums of all time
nice stuff. Anyone hyped for the new Contortionist album?
They're guitarist and drummer just left, made me really sad because they made some beautiful music together but they started a new progressive metal band so we will see how that goes
My man. Been listening to Ghost Reveries a whole bunch lately.
Love me some Fallujah man! That record is absolutely amazing
I'm as hyped as I could be. Didn't get in Intrinsic that much, but loved Exoplanet. Whatever way the new album is going, I can't wait to get it.
Also, pic related. Last album I listened to.
>Breakdown of Sanity.
Check out Deftones.
slipknots new song - the negative one. hooked on it getting me pumped for the new album. as far as favourite bands go metallica get the number one spot for me closely followed by slipknot. although metallica are my favourite band I am not that keen on their new song.
agreed, I cant stop listening to their new tune.
Exoplanet is great and Intrinsic is growing on me more and more. Just listened to breakdown of sanity for the first time and I'm really digging it.
While I'm at it. Shout-out to a band from region of Quebec City that are doing amazing death/folk metal.

another metal thread with a bunch of weak as shit albums..
Fuck you, youtube video that doesn't want to be embedded. Anyway, look them up, they're called Kälter. They got a bandcamp where you can listen to everything they made.
>Sleep - Dopesmoker
Favorite metal album of all time
Cardinal Wyrm. Nice doom.
Local band. Super ambient, progressive/melodic hardcore. New, good shit.
Best doom/ stoner album of all time.
wow this thread is bout to get better
I'm amazed at the good taste /b/ actually has. Given I lured everybody in with prog/sludge metal, that seems to be the key to bring out a diverse selection of good metal. You guys rock
More good stoner/doom stuff.
Blood Mountain is a beast. You're sure to bring people with great taste when you post it. Some days ago, I saw threads with Periphery 2 and Kezia, and it did the same thing (though I don't place P2 nowhere near Blood Mountain and Kezia on a scale of awesomeness).
/b/ got some decent metal taste
Anyone know these guys? Their stuff seems pretty hard to find.
I had a feeling you were the one who started these too. Is there any chance you were the guy with whom I talked about PTH and Corelia, and whom wanted to get into Between The Buried An Me ?
KVELERTAK. I love these guys so much.
Veldlokk. Free black metal.
Okay here some of my favourite bands:
Between the Buried and Me
Devin Townsend Project
Protest the Hero
I'm always looking for new tunes. Can someone recommend me some stuff?
That exact guy. I actually got into them thanks to you, if you are the one who suggested them to me. Silent Circus is fucking god-tier.
You. I like you.
I definitely recommend Scale the Summit if you are a fan of Periphery, PTH and DTP.
More doom/ sludge/ stoner stuff. Takes a bit to get used to but is really good.
I'm the one who suggested Colors, as it seems to be the most popular among the fans. Not my personal favorite, but it's amazing nonetheless.
I'd also rank The Silent Circus above Colors. The angst in that album, the energy, everything, it's amazing.
Glad I helped you like them. You cannot be a huge Protest The Hero fan and not like Between The Buried & Me. Anatomically impossible, I'm pretty sure.
Enter Shikari - Take to the Skies
Not really typical metal but I'm enjoying it.
They are great live. They talk to the to fans in the crowd like they're long time friends.
I saw them in April or May, can't remember, and they delivered. Solid performance!
And I'm seeing The Faceless this Thursday, along with Rings Of Saturn and Fallujah. I'm hyped as fuck!
blackwater park > the rest
I haven't seen much folk metal here yet.
Saw this bro at a Mournful Congregation concert in Denver a couple years ago.
Yeah, I've already seen them live twice, they're like the coolest dudes. So if you see them thursday I guess you're from Canada?
So many people with great taste in one thread!
Blackwater Park is beast, but I also really like Heritage, even if it's not really metal anymore.
Fuuuuck, nice taste bro!
I'm doing one right now with a bunch of newer death and black metal bands. Unless you're talking about the patch in which case you could probably have one made for about $10-15 somewhere.
Obscura is some of the best tech-death i've ever heard. Up there with Decapitated and Necrophagist for me. Also, you should give Arsis a listen, they are fucking heavy and really talented, for being not so well-known
Horn of the Rhino. Imagine a Spanish Danzig singing for a Neurosis cover band
Imagine if Tool were black metal, and inspired by Hunter S. Thompson and Ernest Hemingway. Lots of American bands have made black metal, but these guys make black metal American.
These guys put on the best live show ever, especially for a 3 piece.
Love all of these albums. Can anyone show me something I would like based on that?
Scale The Summit
i had never heard their songs, but i checked on their last album!
i have to say that the war/heroic concept earn my respect for this band. also powerfull sounding riffs was good
If you haven't listened to Baroness yet, you will probably like them based off your other likes.
>ctrl + f
>no electric wizard
Anyone else like Rhapsody or Luca Turilli? Cheesy as hell, yeah, but if my mother hadn't accidentally downloaded Black Dragon when I was 12 I probably would never have gotten into metal. Hadn't listened to them in a while, but Aeons of Raging Darkness by Rhapsody came up on my Pandora and I was blown away.
Anyone into Illdisposed ?
>mfw i find their last album is cool, but not as good as Sense The Darkness
It leaked already? fuck should I listen to it now or wait?
Saw them live a few weeks ago - they ware awesome. support was pic related, fucking great live band!
Do you know The Safety Fire? Their newest album is great!
If you like neurosis or isis, this is in the same vein.
Fuck The Safety Fire. All I've got to say..
It's in the Top 3 with The Olive Tree and The Traveler.
Fucking love The Migration! Last week I finally learned all guitar parts of the album
One of my favourite albums
All are fucking awesome
Erra - Alpha Seed
Corelia - Treetops
Misery Signals - Luminary
Insomnium - Lay the Ghost to Rest
This is the best metal album of all time.
wait a little bit more. the current leak is awful with 2 or 3 secs at the beginning of every song cut off and 256kbps quality.
in a week or so there should be a nice .flac rip.
Recently ive been listening to a lot of Mastodon, Halestorm, Wovenwar, Kyng and Scar the Martyr. Kyng is by far my favorite at the moment.
Probably you've heard of Woods of Ypres, but you might not have heard of Thrawsunblat, formed from the remains of WoY after David Gold died. Damn good stuff.
NIGGERS I HAVE THE MOTHERLOAD FOR YOU
DON'T EVEN THANK ME, BE CURIOUS AND LEARN. I CAN GUARANTEE YOU WON'T BE DISSAPOINTED. ?
>Catacombs - In The Depths Of R'lyeh (2006) [full album]
>PlanetAIDS - ApocalypticAIDS
>Pharaoh Overlord - Skyline
>Wormphlegm - In an Excruciating Way Infested with Vermin and Violated by Executioners Who Practise Incendiarism and Desanctifying the Pious
I appreciate you guys.
Alvacast old band from 1989, they have plans to joining again.
THAT fucking album, there's nothing even close to this.
Sure, the albums are okay for the genre. But not a single one of the band members can handle their instrument.
I'll just have to hope they get to Sweden then...
Who wants to burn a church later?
maybe the greatest new thrash band imo..i see great future on those guys .Space thrash fckers
For those who like instrumental space prog metal kind of stuff, try:
Voivod has been doing scifi-thrash since the early 80's. Vektor's logo even looks a little er, 'inspired.'
Don't get me wrong. It sounds good, even if it doesn't have the jazz/prog elements that make Voivod timeless.
one of the most brutally heavy records ever
>But not a single one of the band members can handle their instrument.
lel thats the truth, they had to bring in that old dude from children of bodom to do their solos in studio.
yes obviously vektor are inspired by voivod they said it themselves also..the thing is their music style is very different and unique despite the fact that you can hear some voivod elements in the more proggresive parts
