Sadly, traditionally attractive people usually date other traditionally attractive people. That's just how our society works and it has to do with both biology and culture (probably more so culture). So if you are an unattractive guy and are going after really attractive girls because they represent some image of beauty to you, then you are likely setting yourself up for failure. This is not to say you should just settle for some person you find ugly, but maybe just try not focusing so much on physical attractiveness (but that is hard given that men are constantly surrounded by images of hyper-sexualized women of a certain few types). After all, when you fall in love with someone their physical appearance doesn't really matter, unless you're completely shallow, and in that case, you should just fuck off.

Having said that, I see unattractive girls with traditionally attractive guys and unattractive guys with traditionally attractive girls relatively often. There are a lot of external pressures on people. A girl might not only turn down a nice but ugly dude because of her personal preference but also because of the fear of being judged by her peers, by society. We put these pressures on ourselves and each other, but it is slowly getting better. No need to be so upset and stressed about it. Obsessing over sex and "getting the girl" is the problem, not "not getting the girl".
