I don't know, I never really tried skating desu. I've tried bmx before but I mainly just use my bmx to get myself around. I'm from the Netherlands. Surf here is not great but I try to go to hit up the atlantic coast in south of france, north of spain and portugese coast.

Nah I'm not sponsored. I just try to save up a bit and travel on budget airlines. I wouldn't say I have a crew but just a couple of friends I sometimes hit waves with. I've only been surfing for 4 years now since I didn't live near a coastline before. Then I moved and I just got obsessed with it and decided to take a few classes as an introduction. I don't think I'm an amazing surfer or anything but there's nothing better than spending an entire day at the beach catching waves, having a few joints and watching the sun go down.

I do most of my surfing here, because I live about 10 minutes away from the shore. Unfortunately weather is often bad here so the water will be cold as shit. Favourite surfer currently is probably Dane Reynolds still.

I don't know if it's easier, but for me overcoming the fear of biffing was easy with surfing as I've always been a decent swimmer and not afraid of water. I once fell right with my chin on the handlebars of my BMX and had a massive fucking gap on my chin that needed quite a few stitches so I don't know if the streets are for me.

i'm just getting back on my board again after a few years hiatus because someone stole my motorcycle. it's a big old fiberglass deck that i got when i was 16 in 2001.
i love the way it rides but it's banged up around the edges and itches like crazy if it touches my skin
can i sand it? and/ or seal the edges up somehow?
everything i've read online about sanding fiberglass sounds pretty intense but i think it's mostly about building decks from scratch, not just smoothing out edges
or should i just get a new deck?

Giger's method for teaching ollies is to land on your front truck first. Which is a good habit for new skaters, because, like anon discovered, it encourages levelling out ollies, which has the bonus effect of adding height to ollies.

Bingo; this entire time, I was raising my front foot think if I pop hard enough, it would level out, but my front foot was going too high up to actually control the board. "Landing" your front foot on the trucks in mid air slaps the board to your back foot. Basic stuff, but it's still a trip for me because it took a decade to understand. I can also fs 180 far more consistently because the back isn't just slamming into the ground
